Kids really need a revive in learning to type. I can't believe how many 3rd and 4th graders can barely make their way around the keyboard as an online instructor!

I think with so many tasks performed on smartphones and via voice, there is seemingly less of a need for typing skills. But once they start in a job where lots of typing is needed, they will be much slower than their peers who’ve worked on their typing skill

@@AnsonAlexander Programming is still high in demand, AI and voice isn't going anywhere with that. As I taught minecraft education edition, many kids had a hard time navigating the keyboard

I never knew there were so many typing games out there. I think that the fruit one would be very useful for someone who is just started out and is practicing hitting all of the right keys without looking at the keyboard. Which do you think is the most challenging, typerx?

Hey Cody! Yeah there are quite a few but I I think there's room for some more that are at the level of Nitro Type. I do some game coding on the side as a hobby and am seriously thinking about building a speed test first for my website and then using that code to create a typing game some day. And, yes, TyperX was the most challenging for me by far because of the high reading level of their paragraphs.

Is there a music game like Guitar Hero or Rock Band? It just seems like a natural direction to go with a typing game to me, but I don't know anything about typing. I remember this Play Station game (called Frequency I think) where you just pressed the buttons on the gamepad as they moved across the screen, similar to Guitar Hero. I thought I would hate the concept but I actually found it to be pretty fun, enough that I actually played it for a while.

Huh, these games look awesome, being honest here I found another game called typer shark deluxe which offers as well something similar to the 2nd game early in the video, not only it does have difficulties to pick but also lessons and an endless mode, going to tutor mode is awesome to learn to type fast but you could also test yourself before playing by pressing the previous "lesson" in lesson 1 which will put like a test to determine WPM along with errors, once done writing the text given, difficulty recommended is given (and of course not forgetting your WPM and errors. Oh and to add, the game you can find it on steam)

All typing websites are fundamentally the same. Words are displayed on the screen and you have to copy them. That's it.

I mean, yeah, just like roads are the same, you drive on them. They don’t all take you to the same destination though and some are better for practicing driving skills than others.

When you type the word "because" (just as an example, but this applies to all words) do you have a different way of typing it on Monkeytype, to the way you'd type it on Typeracer? And is the way you'd type it on Typeracer different to the way you'd type it on Nitrotype? And is the way you'd type it on Nitrotype different to the way you'd typed on Key Hero? I could keep going and list hundreds of typing sites, some of them barely known and barely used, but I think you get the point. If you can type a word perfectly well on one website, you can type it perfectly well on all websites.

Another good game is Typing of the Dead. Sadly it is Abandonware and so there is no legal way to get it unless you previously own it. There are other means, but I wouldn't recommend them unless you're sure those sights are safe.

There's a Dreamcast version as well as a PC one. And the Dreamcast is one of the easiest consols to emulate
