People very well may have sent letters. But a priest's bishop doesn't have to respond. They might have pastoral reasons for not acting yet. Who knows? It's also possible that this priest's congregation is more liberal and never sent letters.

Welcome to the Catholic Church my friend! Most of the bishops are incompetent and the fact we've lasted 2,000 years in spite of the incompetence of leadership is evidence of the truth of our claims. The fact is, the majority of bishops are administrators and don't want to ruffle the feathers of the culture. They think you can serve both God and Mammon or be neutral in the struggle between them. Tldr we're happy you're here - now get ready to bang your head against a wall until Christ calls you home!

@@2304rcb If your friend asked you to pray for him, would you tell him, "there is only one mediator between God and Man"? If you were visited by an angel, I'm sure you would not say, "you are not to be mediator, as Jesus is the only mediator between God and humanity!". I don't think Paul meant that we are never to get spiritual guidance/intercession/whatever spiritual roles fufilled from anyone who isn't Jesus. He meant that humanity's ne mediator to God is Christ, that humanity is wholly dependent on Christ's mediation to get to God. He goes on to say that Christ ransomed himself for us, suggesting that Jesus's perfect sacrifice for our sins is this mediation. We becomes children of God through Christ, we gain inheritance through Him (and not through the Saints, Angels, or anyone else. This is the mediation Paul is speaking of, not intercessory prayer. There is a lot to suggest in the New Testament that we should be helping each other as we are members of the body of Christ. "We, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another” (Romans 12:5). If we are the same body, helping each other is necessary, which is why we ask for help from the Saints and even each other on earth.

THE GOSPEL OF THE WORD OF ALMIGHTY GOD "is a great last day that He will save man" (God returned and brought the age to the end. When the Age of Law His name was Jehovah, and in the Age of Grace and redemption the name Jesus represented God. But in this Last Day His name is Almighty God, taken He this name belongs to His disposition) Almighty God said "GOD'S WORK throughout His ADMINISTRATION is VERY CLEAR. The AGE of GRACE is the age of grace, and the LAST DAY is the last day. THERE are CLEAR DIFFERENCES BETWEEN each AGE, because in each age there is His work will represent that age. To FULFILL the WORK in the LAST DAYS, there MUST be OBEDIENCE, JUDGMENT, PUNISHMENT, HATE, and DESTRUCTION to END the AGE. The LAST DAYS are, REFERRING to the FINAL AGE. In the final age, won't He end the age? And ONLY through CHASTISEMENT and JUDGMENT CAN the AGE be BROUGHT to an END." ☀️ "In fact, in the AGE of LAW, JEHOVAH is the NAME of GOD, and in the AGE of GRACE, the NAME JESUS represents GOD. PEOPLE have NEVER PARTAKEN of Me, NEVER KNOWN Me and ALWAYS IGNORANT of My DISPOSITION. FROM the CREATION of the WORLD UNTIL NOW, NO ONE has KNOWN Me. There is NOT one PERSON or THING that MY WORDS will NOT JUDGE, and there is not ONE PERSON or THING that WILL NOT be PURIFIED BY the FIRE. IN the END all NATIONS will be BLESSED because of My WORDS, and will ALSO be BROKEN into PIECES because of My WORDS. In this WAY all PEOPLE DURING the LAST DAYS will SEE that I AM the SAVIOR who has RETURNED. I AM the ALMIGHTY GOD who will CONQUER ALL mankind. 🙏 And for MAN I was ONCE the SIN OFFERING, BUT in the LAST DAYS I WILL be the FLAMES of the SUN that will BURN EVERYTHING, as WELL as the SUN of RIGHTEOUSNESS that will REVEAL EVERYTHING. SUCH is My WORK in the LAST DAYS. I TOOK this NAME and I OWN this DISPOSITION, so that ALL PEOPLE may SEE that I AM a RIGHTEOUS GOD, and I AM the BURNING SUN and the BURNING FIRE. It doesn't matter when the term "transubstantiation" became used in any language. What's important is that the concept is blatantly in the Bible. We could still be without a term for it today and it would still not change the fact that bread and wine change to Jesus' body and blood because He said it at the last supper. In other parts of the Gospels, the Apostles ask Jesus to clarify things like parables and He does. But with the Last Supper, they do not ask for clarification because they know they are the seeing the fulfillment of Jesus' prophecy when He said "Unless you eat my flesh and drink my blood..." They know without a doubt that this is not a symbol. And when Jesus says, "Do this in memory of me," they know He's telling them to perform this supper again and again for the world.

Some are, not necessarily on a national level, but a Diocesan one. Many Dioceses are creating new initiatives to make an increase of a return to faith for members of the Church. Many heresies have been countered this way with increased education as well. This also seems to be a problem seen more in countries considered first world where we take many things for granted, causing us to become lazy and look for problems where there isn't. This is seen in the increase of heretical views by dissenters who wish to discredit our Church and increase confusion. Throughout history, our Church has encountered many heresies like Arianism, and despite terrible misteps we have won out. The Church will ultimately get over this as we have in the past.

Remember the Our Father uses the word ἐπιούσιον bread (Supersubstantial/suprasubstantial ), it is a word which appears only twice in the Bible and is a made up word in Koine Greek. It doesn't mean daily bread. There was the Holy Bread lachem haPanim - the bread of the presence aka as the Bread of the Face in the inner sanctuary of the First Temple. Only the priests could eat it, Three times a year the priests would take the holy bread out raise it up for the jewish pilgrims to see and say "Behold G_ds love for you". Eucharist is our manna, our holy bread and each time we participate in Mass and consume it we return to that moment of redemption. It is not a wheel of time. It is a spiral. We return to the same point but at a higher level by our continued observance. This is Jacob’s spiracle ladder to heaven.
@someperson2789
@someperson2789 Жыл бұрын
I'm not a Roman Catholic but I want to voice my view in the distinction of and rejection regarding the view that the "Eucharist is Manna or Holy Bread," because the sacrament is preceded by the words of Jesus, spoken from His living self to eat bread in His remembrance, so with that distinction cleared out it would mean that Jesus Himself directly, and in a vacuum (or in the most technical and precise way) so to speak is the living bread or manna of heaven, the sacrament of the Eucharist is merely a portion or subset of what it means to eat the bread of heavevn or in other words _to obey Jesus._ Considering Jesus' words are about obeying Him, or in other words to partake of His Divine nature by conforming one's self to it, a person eats the living bread from heaven every time they genuinely turn away from sin at the moment of temptation as one example. Jesus Himself, the Living word is what sanctifies any sort of sacrament. Jesus precedes the sacrament of communion not the other way around and neither are the two on equal grounds, for no matter how much the latter in it's nature is necessary and reflective of the former, what I say is true because eating the bread of heaven is a title of knowing God, and the pharisees, had they been born in the Christian age would be probably some of the best communion/mass service attenders and yet they would still not go to heaven.

@@someperson2789 Jesus gave out 2 types of bread at the Last Supper. One type of bread Jesus gave to Judas which is a metaphor for the bread of “spiritual death”, this bread was unholy and unblessed and identified Judas as His traitor. He then gave out another type of Bread to the Apostles with the words: "Take, eat this is MY BODY." He took, blessed, broke and gave this blessed holy bread to His Apostles that if they eat it they will have eternal life. John 13: 26-30. Those who eat the first type of bread (unblessed/unholy) don’t believe Jesus in John 6 when He said “those who eat my flesh and drink my blood abide in me and I abide in them.” They are like those who turned their backs on Jesus and left because they couldn’t accept that teaching about the Eucharist. Some in John 6 waited for Jesus to correct/clarify Himself but He doesn't, in fact He doubles down on what He said. They/protestants couldn't make the connection to the Manna (Bread from Heaven) or the connection to the Bread of the Presence (Bread of the Face) which was kept in the holy of holies in Solomons Temple. PESACH: consume the lamb/flat bread in memory of the exodus/escape from slavery EUCHARIST: consume the lamb/bread in memory of the escape from slavery of sin The Todah was the one of the most important and popular sacrifices of ancient Jews. Ancient Rabbinic dictum states: “In the coming Messianic age all sacrifices will end but the thanks- offering of the todah will never cease." The todah sacrifice is what links and underlies the Passover and the Mass. Introduced in the Old Testament, the todah-in contrast to the yearly celebration of Passover-was a continual sacrifice of thanks and praise to G_d for His saving actions: A todah sacrifice would be offered by someone whose life had been delivered from great peril. Just as the Passover was a sacrifice in memory of when the Jewish people had been saved from death during their exile in Egypt, so too, the Mass is a continual sacrifice of thanksgiving for our salvation. This is why every hour of every day there is a Mass being celebrated in a town/city somewhere in the world for thanksgiving to Christ for His sacrifice and saving us .

In (sort of) defense of the statements in the "boring homilies" article: I have been meditating quite a lot of late about the beautiful variety of spiritual and intellectual styles within the Church. From contemplative hermits to plain clothed charity workers, from intellectual and liturgical Dominicans to humble Minims Friars, etc. etc. One could go further into the various charisms and gifts people have, better minds than mine have at length. Just as I am fortified by a homily that encourages my own inclinations, I am often strengthened in faith when I hear something I wouldn't have focused on or even considered. The Napoleon anecdote is well placed. Whenever I come across a statement that begins to get my scandal senses tingling, I often have to check that pride problem to make sure I haven't closed my own heart to an element of truth in whatever I am reacting to. Christ's truth being complete, it is little wonder that flawed and limited beings such as ourselves are only gifted with the grace to see a fraction of it at a time.

@@Chile2011 I never said Jesus lied, but the passage you refer to in John is pretty clear when Jesus says that the flesh means nothing. It becomes more and more obvious that he is referring to spiritual substance. This passage from John is an event that happened distinctly separate from the last supper. He wasn’t referring to atonement on the cross that we commemorate with communion. Jesus uses metaphor all throughout the gospel and we never see other uses of metaphor as “lying.” When he says he’s a “door,” we don’t assume he means he’s a literal door. The way he speaks in the last supper is exactly consistent with the same metaphorical language patterns he has used throughout the gospel. “Do this in remembrance of me” is the command. He is obviously creating symbolism. If he wanted us to think of it as eating his physical or spiritual self, he would have said something like, “Do this to draw me near,” or “Do this to be with me always.” He didn’t say either of those things. Congratulations & welcome. I can possibly give 2 reasons 1)possibly he just went thru seminary giving all the right answers & never questioned or disagreed before ordination 2) it's possible that he was completely faithful & the world, along with the evil one led him to question his faith. We may never know why he's trying to mislead & divide our church. But I'm more convinced they all need our prayers. They give us so much, our prayers need to be given for them. Welcome into our church, we are blessed to have you, it will become home to you. And you'll be in my prayers

As someone who was himself educated by the Jesuits, I am amazed that Fr. Reese consistently commits several logical fallacies, which I was taught by my (older and better) Jesuit teachers to avoid. His favorite one seems to be the "Argument from Ignorance," which fallaciously claims that just because I or others ("Modern Man") do not understand a term or argument (or simply have not heard of it), it must be wrong, meaningless or unimportant. As Trent puts it so well, it is literally Fr. Reese's job to know, clarify and communicate the meaning of these terms, which have been well-defined throughout Church history. But my guess is the Fr. Reese does understand what these terms and teachings mean, but pretends not to understand them because he doesn't like or believe them.

Your “empty ritual” to me is spot on. It is my belief that these progressive Catholics are creating a situation for someone that rejects Catholic moral teaching to decide if they want to be Catholic and have to actually do things like go to Mass or not be a Catholic and not have to go about our sacred traditions and requirements (like going to Mass). Why should someone be Catholic if they can follow the same moral code outside a religion? This to me is why we have lost so many people at church. These progressives, woke, leftist or however they would be identified as have effectively made the Mass an “empty ritual” by teaching people that they do not have to abide by the moral requirements to say partake in the Eucharist. They have made the Eucharist an empty ritual.

I'm not sure I understand your comment properly. People could follow some moral code without being Catholic even before now, regardless of Catholics believing in Eucharistic presence. Such teachings hardly affect that. They have more impact on people, who want to be Catholic, but are unsure about doctrine or are having doubts and are thus more easily led astray.

I read an older apologetic work which discussed how Protestants and others have problems believing the Eucharistic doctrines. The writer said "Yes, it is very difficult for us to understand, but I thought to myself "Why should it not be?" At that moment my doubts began to fade. If God could do all the things that the Church says that He did then why should He not make the Eucharist the Body and Blood of Christ? It's a very simple insight, but it works for me. Why shouldn't God do it? He is able to do anything, so why not?

At 11:37 Trent says "Jesus says this is not bread and wine, but his flesh and blood." Does Jesus ever explicitly say it's not bread? or is that just inferred because he simply refers to it as his body? Because then in 1 Corinthians 11:26-28, Paul does refer to the sacrament as bread. Paul also says those eating the bread must discern the body, but he calls it bread...

That ending quote! That's Cardinal Ercole Consalvi, 1st Secretary of State of Pope Pius VII, who allegedly said that. Napoleon; "We will destroy your Church" (and BOY he did try!) Consalvi: "Majesty, it has been 20 centuries that we ourselves have been trying to do this and we did not manage to..." Cardinal Ettore Consalvi, apart from this funny anevdote, is a very interesting figure to dive ourselves in; he had to govern the State when the Pope was deported and the State under the revolution. I think his best quote, written in his Memories, and that gives us exactly what kind of man he was, is this: "The Revolution had changed everything and destroyed much. From this evil it was possible, in restoring things, to derive good. However wise the institutions of papal government were, there is no doubt, however, that some had degenerated from their earliest origins; others had been mixed, altered, corrupted; others no longer suited the times, new ideas, new uses. The very effects of the Revolution and its spirit, which had not ceased with its cessation, demanded considerations and considerations, for the very advantage of the government that was to be re-established, as well as of the governed." A man unshrinkable by history and adversities.

Trent: My understanding is that philosophy is the "handmaiden" of theology not its master. Yes, how many of us really are able to buy into ancient Aristotelian philosophival categories like "substance' and "accidents" to explain what we really mean when we talk about Christ's real presence in the Eucharist? When it comes to explaining "reality" we live in a world of atoms, quarks and vibrating waves of energy. I just recently returned to the church and noticed thst in the creed "of one being with the Father" has been changed back to "consubstantial" with the Father. That really helps ?

In the LAST DAYS, His NAME will be ALMIGHTY GOD----the Almighty. 🙏 And He USES His POWER to GUIDE MAN, CONQUER MAN, GAIN MAN, and ULTIMATELY, END the AGE," I have ONCE been RECOGNIZED as JEHOVAH. I have ALSO been CALLED the MESSIAH, sometimes PEOPLE CALLED Me JESUS, SAVIOR because they LOVED and RESPECTED Me. But NOW I AM NO LONGER the JEHOVAH or JESUS that PEOPLE have KNOWN in PAST TIMES-----I AM the GOD who RETURNS in the LAST DAYS, the ONE who WILL BRING in the TIME of the END. ☀️ I AM the GOD who RISE from the ENDS of the WORLD, I AM FULL of MY DISPOSITION and FULL of AUTHORITY, HONOR, and GLORY. PEOPLE have NEVER PARTAKEN of Me, NEVER KNOWN Me and ALWAYS IGNORANT of My DISPOSITION. FROM the CREATION of the WORLD UNTIL NOW, NO ONE has KNOWN Me. This is the GOD who APPEARS to MAN in the LAST DAYS but is HIDDEN from PEOPLE. ☀️ HE DWELLS with MEN, TRUE and BURNING FIRE, FULL of POWER and OVERFLOWING AUTHORITY. It is so that ALL WILL WORSHIP ME, the ONLY TRUE GOD. And so they see My TRUE FACE: I AM NOT JUST the GOD of the ISRAELITES, and I AM NOT JUST the REDEEMER-----I AM the GOD of ALL CREATION in the WHOLE SKY and EARTH and SEA." 🙏 From " The WORD Appears in the Flesh " 🌸 holy book. His Kingdom sent down from heaven standing in the air or KZbin! fulfillment of "In the LAST DAY, the mountain on which Jehovah's Temple stands will stand out above all the mountains. All nations will flock to it." (Isaiah 2:2) 💐 "THE CHURCH OF ALMIGHTY GOD" 💐 fulfillment of (Matthew 16:18) The Lord Jesus said to Peter, "And I say to you, you are Peter, UPON THIS ROCK I WILL BUILD MY CHURCH, that even the power of death will not prevail against it." "I will write the name of my God, the name of the city of my God, which will come down from heaven from My God.....And I will also write My NEW NAME." (Revelation 3:12) "For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be laid upon his shoulder: and his NAME SHALL BE CALLED Wonderful, Counselor, ALMIGHTY GOD, Everlasting FATHER, Prince of Peace." (Isaiah 9:6) I heard a loud voice from the throne, "Now, the house of God is with the people! They will dwell with them, and they will be his people. They will be with God forever (and he will be their God). "They WILL SEE His FACE, and HIS NAME WILL BE WRITTEN ON THEIR FOREHEAD." (Revelation 21:3 and 22:4)

Simply put, the gold medal in confusion goes to those who, when speaking and writing, can link truth and lies without the person being able to distinguish, when something seems great but in essence it is not. When the message is so ambiguous that everyone in the same room can interpret the message differently and believe that everyone understands the same thing. The one who uses ambiguity and confusion and is able to reach the top of the hierarchy. Certainly a Gold medal winner.

It's important to remember that truth is not a democracy. No matter what private opinions are publicly expressed by this priest or that friar, the truth is safeguarded infallibly in the Church itself, in the deposit of faith. Even when the Pope speaks on an issue, it is important to distinguish whether he is speaking infallibly, on matters essential to the faith, or simply sharing his personal thoughts and opinions. The best defense against falsehood is not necessarily censorship of every controversial voice (although that would be very effective), but to be firmly grounded in knowledge of the truth.

I think it has a lot to do with a couple of things: first and foremost, Jesuit are highly involved in higher education, which has grown progressively more leftist, secular and socialist since the 1960s. And second but lesser so, the Jesuit themselves take vows of poverty and communal lifestyles where they do not own anything. Sounds rather socialist in nature...They were often in conflict with the right-wing dictators the US propped up in South America during the cold War in the name of fighting communism. Even in the 90s there was a lot of anti-American sentiment over things like the School of Americas at the Jesuit college I attended.

Will be exposed to a whole lot of it, cajolled to accept, believer and spread heresy, will hear it out of the mouths of Bishops and Pope(s), but never BOUND to it. This brings up a very important point. It is incumbent upon each and everyone of us to know, love and live the true faith. We cannot count on those in the Hierarchy to teach us the truth, or even hold it themselves. We have to know the truth of Christ, in spite of those who infest the hierarchy. Learn and Study.
