James, it seems ironic you're thanking us for watching, all the while we're thanking you for posting and sharing all the info you have gathered and learned over the past 20 years you've been working. At this point, it seems you understand how much you're videos are appreciated, and how helpful you've been to so many of us working on our own rigs. But maybe because it's what you do every day, and it all seems rather routine to you, it's difficult to understand just how valuable your sharing of your skill set really is. The way you put your videos together, and the time you take to explain how things are done, it makes it possible to tackle projects that might otherwise seem too daunting to do ourselves. You have a great channel, and now owning your own coach, it's great to see you working on it and teaching us even more. Specifically, in this one, addressing the size and pound question with the struts was one I was wondering about, and now I have my answer, so once again, thank you for your help!

I'm so happy to have come across your channel! Really enjoy your patience in explaining processes! 😅 We're wanting to take on a conversion project to use for family vacations, but I'm a bit hesitant. I think my biggest hesitation is that the engines are old and I'd hate to put money into the conversion only to have the engine go down to the point it can't be fixed. 😬 I looked at the cost of replacing these big engines and it's really costly! 😭 Makes considering an older bus a bit intimidating, but then I remember all the space! 🤷🏽♀️ Trying to educate myself as much as I can, and why I count my blessings when I come across channels like yours!! 🙏🏽 Thank you for being willing to put all this info out there! ☺️

James, I designed solar for three years later in my 35 year career. As long as your max voltage is within the window of your equipment it will work. If your watts or amps are higher, you are still good and suggested. You may have some unused energy at peak level, but you will have max input longer. Do you double it? No, but you could. Our optimum amount over inverter size was around 1.23 multiplier of energy/cost relationship. Thanks for showing the gas strut replacement. Best wishes, Kevin

Most everything I bought as a camper I turned around and sold before the season was over never wanted to own a camper over winter myself, inlaws and other did and it did not seem helpful to need to winterize and store it. Your enthusiasm is infectious for your rig, nice to see someone that cares about their equipment and takes care of it. Stay safe and healthy James.

Owner of my first diesel pusher motorhome for 4 months now (2017 Fleetwood Pace Arrow 33D) and really like the videos. Would like to see the generator oil/coolant change video when you do it? I did the chassis filters with my neighbors help and plan to do the generator service this fall when it cools down here in Tucson. Also would like to add solar and would not mind seeing a video from you on that too? My unit is pre-wired for solar and found the solar connection on the roof. Have not found where it goes down into the coach by the batteries and will need to have a controller. Owners need to have some knowledge of how the systems work on their RV’s and just like the analysis you had done, you don’t need to be a rocket scientist and know every tiny detail and you just need to have some foundational knowledge to help you out when things do not work as they should. Great job as always and can’t wait for the outtakes you toss in at the end!

Hi James, always fun to watch your videos. Real laid back and easy going. I think I'm in the same boat as you.....I recently bought a 2007 HR 45' Navigator w/tag, 4 slides, 525 Cummins. It screams quality and I am obsessed with it. My wife refers to it as "the mistress" because I spend so much time and money on it. I love tinkering with it and am constantly making little upgrades or doing maintenance on it, even if it really doesn't need it....just because I like doing it and it's a labor of love. I'll even just take a break and sit in a lawn chair and stare at it. Sometimes I'll start it up and just listen to it. I know...kind of crazy. Like you, I too can't believe that I own it. A few years back, I would have never thought I'd own something so nice and somewhat expensive but I think it's worth every penny that I spent. It actually makes me happy to go and tinker with it, all alone in the quiet...just me and the mistress. Love it. Thanks for sharing and look forward to the next video!!

Seems like we’re doing a lot of the same maintenance to our rvs. I’m in Deming, NM and have Steer Safe come out to install there steering stabilizer today. I’m definitely disappointed at the magnum chassis’s drive ability. Seems like I spent way to much effort in herding it down the road and correcting when being passed by a semi truck. I would have expected it to be better having the tag axle.

If you're going to do the solar upgrade, PLEASE do an extremely thorough installation series. There are many videos out there with the highlights but none of the installation nitty-gritty. That I'd truly love to see. Thanks in advance. Also, I'd like to see if you were available for consultation on an hourly rate basis for advice and answering the myriad of questions I have before upgrading to a larger Class A, as well as general maintenance questions which pop up all the time. I have so many questions and trying to find answers online is like sifting through the Sahara. Having a true RV professional helping me would be invaluable. If you offer this type of service, please contact me through the contact on my KZbin channel. Thanks again, and great video here, as always. Nicely done acquisition on the Beaver! When I changed the oil immediately after purchasing my Duramax 2500HD, I had the oil analysis done and it came back with a hand-written note which said "Your oil was still perfectly fine, but since you changed it already anyways, please send us another sample at the next change so we can get the trend." Hurts a little bit to know you've spent money unnecessarily, but such is life sometimes.

just because the oil analysis says it's clean doesn't mean it's mechanically sound, it's a good reference but how it was drivin and other factors play a part. Was it lugged for miles and miles, did it do alot of hill climbing while towing. Driving habits contribute a lot to transmission life. Curious to know if you have budgeted in the replacement of that there Allison, could be a deal breaker on retaining it 🤔

I have been looking for a similar coach and they are fairly rare. There are subtle differences between them all and they appear to have been individually built to order. I have seen 455's and 505's. I am not sure I trust the accuracy of the listing claims. I am wondering which of the three tunings is the most fuel efficient.
@joe-aj0yz2 жыл бұрын
Speaking as a truck driver, that fuel efficiency may also depend on the transmission gearing ratios, final drive ratio, and rear end ratio. In my world, sometimes it's more fuel efficient to turn a 15L engine up closer to 600 HP, and other times it's better to leave it down around 450.
@cullenmiller81702 жыл бұрын
I have a 42’ Marquis that has the 505 C-12. I wouldn’t worry to much about the horse power number and rather look at the torque spec and rpm. The max horsepower is achieved at an rpm you really don’t want to run at. I averaged about 8.5-8.6 mpg on mine over the last 3000+ miles. I pull a small pickup behind it too. I spent month looking for mine and already have spent thousands in maintenance repairs and upgrades. It had two previous owners, was stored in buildings and had only 50,000 miles on it. Those coaches aren’t for the faint hearted for sure and have a good budget for maintenance set a side.

Not generally, but I'm sure everyone will correct me. I would check your local state, country, and concerned Karens for laws

Cowboy it's a good thing you guys got a shop, now everyone can show what a true marksman you guys really are. the paint came out nice I would dare to say he's just working on his target practice 🎯 ,⁽;⁽)〉¥〈(⁾⁾ (⁾" ⁽°⁾ ?⁽°⁾ .. definitely ) ⁽ go with the Well Fargo scheme look that is if you want to be the the real Jesse James, Cowboy! Own it like you stole it fresh out of the Bank . give it the western flare James. the guys would work on there computer Sketch on how your Thunder should look like, the Southern western style of a stealthy solar desert Bandit steeling the energy right out of the desert Sun ☀🌵Yo .

Go get em Cowboy .

I also enjoy adventuring! Throwing stuff into campfires and poking stuff with a stick. Not much has changed since age 12.
