My best advice is just spending time with your Skye (and future children). Prioritize family dinners, asking them about their days, getting to know their friends. I already know you're going to provide the physical requirements (clothing, food etc.). Regarding the screen time, definitely try to limit. Encourage books and physical activity. You don't want them to use iPad to self soothe themselves. Build healthy habits young and then when she's a little older, you can allow screen time.

It's exactly what I came to say. Gentle parenting is about being in touch and sensitive to big feelings and certain situations but also putting boundaries in place. There are content creators that are showing different techniques and setting boundaries. Gentle parenting has a huge stigma for being known as permissive and this isn't true.

Yesss it hurts to hear them cry but it helps so they learn self soothing 😢 and my son didn't sleep with me until he turned 3 and he learned to climb on my bed and he sleeps longer. (I am a single mom) Then n on I didn't mind it because he doesn't move all over the bed at night lol. 😅 man as a baby 6 months n on he would everywhere in his crib at night 😅

Permissive parenting is when you basically let your kids walk all over you and do whatever you want. But to me gentle parenting is an authoritative parent which means you don’t hit. Any consequences make sense to the action like if you break a vase you have to help clean it up and then depending on age help save up money to buy a new one. Not being grounded for a week because those two don’t correlate. You also just set boundaries with them and follow through with those!

Exactly gentle parenting is confused for permissive parenting and this is not the case. It's helping manage feelings in a calm collected way but with having boundaries in place. ''It's okay for you to feel angry, but hitting is not okay. Lets find a different way to help you outlet these feelings.'' This is gentle parenting, permissive parenting is just ignoring it and letting the feelings/outburst manifest in whatever way suits them even if it's unacceptable.
