There are a range of issues when it comes to installing Resolve on different Linux distro's and DE's, some distro's and DE's play nice with Resolve while others just plain don't. And this you only find out when trying to install it on said distro, especially when you are someone coming from windows, you do not expect to have to hunt down packages and libraries to make a program that is supposed to be supported work. If you have done this a few times it becomes easier for you to do, but, you should not have to do this, BMD should make their software work with current distro's and DE's, this would refine the experience, even on Resolve19 with Nobara40 both KDE and GNOME I had to skip the package check because of a naming convention issues with libraries..... This should not be down to the user to have to sort out... I run an Nvidia card and the card was not the issue, the software and it's dependancies are though....This is 100% a BMD thing...

What I was about to say however is that Distrobox needs to run on more point release distros like Debian Stable or Mint. Sure it'd be yet another option next to its own packages, Flatpak, AppImages and even Snaps, given distrobox also works for terminal based software and make use of say the AUR and OBS inside their respective containers, it'd be a real handy tool to have on hands while keeping the base system untouched. Then again, this would also lead into another rabbit hole :,D

Michael, What about adding internal drives on a desktop? There are multiple ways of doing this. When coming over from windows this can become a task as, the drives only show up in "other locations" in Fedora files (GNOME) and are not writable, not to mention, when loading the OS it is better to not have those drives installed as the install may (this has happened to me) span those hard drives and if something fails when this is the case you loos all your data because of the spanning, Fedora KDE has the drives already picked up and working but Fedora GNOME does not and this could catch out a lot of people... Thank you for your video..

From a security perspective it makes sense to not automount drives that could potentially be new. Gnome allows this with Gnome Disks, where you have a toggle for automount. It should be easy enough since there are a couple of ways how people end up there

I disagree with the CrossOver/WIne section. If I am not mistaken the code weavers devs are contributing code to wine as they go, so wine is gaining from this. It is not that they take the code and build upon that just for themselves. Also CrossOver has a polish that Wine does not, and this is the product this team is making. Yeah no, usb stick or ssd going write protected in most most and again most cases means the flash controler on it died making it literaly trash. A dangerous trash because u cant delete any files on it yet sometimes u can still copy them back meaning someone who finds it in the trash can use the data. Its recomended to physicaly break the stick then. Most common causes are idiots on the internet promoting flashing software such as balena etcher. Normal bootable pendrive creators like the microsoft tool, ventoy and rufus create 2 standard as f* partitions, one for grub one for data, while flashing tools like rufus delete all data and partition tables on the drive and create a read only image partition that is exact copy of everything in iso file which operating system can no longer read as a flash drive. That also means ANY AND ALL stupidity in the iso file like dvd video or old af music-cd encoding will be enforced upon partition which might degrade the life of a controler which now has no idea what the hell is it forced to read but does it anyway. This is also why when u connect such flashed pendrive to a windows machine it has no clue what the data is displaying a prompt to re-format the disk. It is not Windows being ahole but a flash drive being forced into cdfs against its will.
