"I'd rather not have kids and regret it than have kids and regret it". Well said. This sums up my exact viewpoint too. My mom told me at one point, only have kids if you *really* want them. That feeling never came, and no regrets.
@nataliaregnarsson Жыл бұрын
Same here. A lot of people is like: "Och you don't know how it is. You will have kids and love them. Sure it's difficult sometimes but the love is overwhelming" etc. But I'm just not interested in that 😅 good it works for other people but I just don't want / need that. And I'm pretty sure I would not like my situation after some time and why should the kids be to blame and suffer because of my choices.

As a mother myself, and a single mum of 3 at that, I think you're absolutely spot on that the only reason anyone should have kids is because they're passionate about being a parent. Fear of missing out is definitely not the right reason, kids are SO all encompassing, So life changing...if you think a dog is a big commitment...lol! My kids are my life, they come before me, before anything else, and I actually think they deserve that. So - yours are words of wisdom, enjoy and contribute in other ways, in all the ways that you are passionate about. We're all here for different reasons I think. Great video, thanks for sharing :) :) :)

@@wildfern I like to think that i played a big role in her living so long as we rescued her when she was 10 years old in Maidstone Saskatchewan from a puppy mill situation! She got her final chance at the life that she truely deserved sadly she had to wait 10 years to get it. But i made her last 9 the best of her life! She even got to paddle board for the first time last spring.

I just lost my almost 12 year old rescue schnoodle yesterday. I had him 11 years, so since I was 25. I am a complete mess and can agree that the costs, both financially and emotionally, are a lot. But I cannot imagine the last decade of my life without my best friend Charlie. I’m so glad I had him in my 20s because those were some tough years and I needed him. I highly recommend rescuing, just be willing to sacrifice for them. ♥️ Much love to anyone who feels the same pain I do right now.

Loved this Q&A!! Just wanted to throw out another rescue pup perspective for you: in my experience, staggering my rescue fur-babies by at least 5-6 yr age gaps has actually been quite helpful for my emotional well-being during the unthinkable transition that we all end up going through at some point. I have been amazed at how much my heart grows to accommodate more love for a new addition without detracting from the love/affection I felt for my O.G. babes whatsoever. It can also be very rejuvenating for older pups to bond and play with a younger friend, & it seems to give them more vitality in their later years:) I guess I’m just suggesting that if Olive enjoys interacting with other pups, it could end up being helpful to the both of you to expand the family well before she’s ready to move on♥️

You're very personable. Again, I really like your style of plant vids. You don't get overhyped about the plants you get. I can't deal with the "OMG OMG OMG" dramatic reactions. You also give good facts about plants you're working with that's helpful for us newbies. Thank you for sharing with us. ❤💚 I have a YT channel as well. I completely understand about keeping your personal life private. I'm married to a psychologist, and I always try to keep our private life away from social media. I was a nurse for 19 years, and I'm now a writer, author (just got my first book deal. I'm writing a book about the missing and murdered Indigenous), and have a small rare plant shop. Orchid...get it out of the moss and into chunky bark, lots of drainage. If you mount it it will do fine but you will need to water it at least every other day. You for sure can and should repot orchids..don't get water in the crown. Except when mounted biggest way to kill them is over watering.

Hi Fern, I’ve been growing orchids for years (20+) and as far as I know you need to get your orchid out of that plastic nursery pot. You can put it back in new moss very lightly fluffed up and if you decide to mount it that would be excellent too. The nursery pots have the moss jammed in too tightly which can lead to root tot. It’s your choice in the end. Good luck.

@danceplants-h8u Жыл бұрын
About orchids. I'm still experimenting but I think unless they come in a very good media they will die soon after they flower. I think we must repot most of them, but being very careful with the transition to the new medium. If they are in a very thin, wet medium - that will kill them - and we repot them in the adequate airy medium they will also die. So I am trying to mix a bit of coco peat and/or sphagnum moss to the chunky airy orchid bark to ease the transition. They are the first ones that survived so far...
@laurabay8626 Жыл бұрын
That was a very nice video to listen to, thank you. As far as the orchids, go… I repot mine when I feel like it. I grow mine in moss and if the moss gets icky or full of algae, I just unpot it, add different moss and put it right back in the same pot. Mine don’t seem to need to be a up-potted very often, only when the roots are pretty much filling the pot. I don’t ever see any signs of stress from messing with the roots on mine though, so it’s not something that worries me. They just keep on blooming… Have a great day.

For your staghorn, you're right about the consistency. I've had mine for about a year and it's doing great mounted like yours. I water weekly by soaking it under the shower head and let it drip off in the tub. It should be fine mounted until it gets so large that you can't even see the bark it is mounted on. By then you should be able to cut it up into different babies.

Hi! I grow a lot of orchids and you should sometimes repot them. do not leave them voor years in te same potting medium. You have a Phalaenopsis. There is a lot of information about these orchids on the internet. Mounting it is a possibility because most orchids are epifitic. But when you mount you orchid you probably have to water is more often then when you keep them in a pot.
@giovannifina8068 Жыл бұрын
The few things I know about orchid is not repot when they are blooming. Not leave water on the leaves and in the space between leaves or they'll rot and wither away. Of course they would need repot sometimes, more because some roots die naturally overtime and would be medium for root rot or fungi desease, orchid like phalenopsis don't grow so much fast so maybe repot after 2 or 3 years
