🥰 I'm at the part of the video where you ask what our hobbies are. My hobbies are plants and cooking like you but as soon as I found out that I was going to be a grandma this summer (he, Matteo, was born on July 19th) I've been crocheting non stop for several months! I've made so many things for him and continue to do so. I'm also crocheting for my daughters and the ladies in my family and myself as well. I LOVE it!! This is a FANTASTIC video. xxx

Yayyyyy, thanks for answering my question about Olive!!! What a cute little baby, my heart 😍❤🐶 I laughed because my dog also loves carrots and she'll sprint across the house if she hears me chopping one. Olive is so lucky to have you as her mama and that your mom also adopted one of her buddies! And I love a long Fern videoooooo 🎉

Hobbies, I also consider food a hobby. It's motivated by having Crohn's disease, but fortunately I also enjoy cooking for myself and prioritizing food that is minimally processed/low additives so that I can try and keep my symptoms under control with my diet. Between food and plants, that's all the time I have for hobbies lol, but I'm always striving to find more time to get outside. Thanks for all the videos Fern, you add so much to our lives!! 💜💜💜

I just forgot how good your videos feel. I was busy because I had my final exams before university, like end of high school and I hadn't had my for it. I fell behind with every channel I watched. My plants are barely living. I worked when my holidays started so the only thing I had the energy for was just pop them in the tub and sprinkle some tap water on them from the shower handle. I haven't repotted any of them, didn't even fertalised. They just somehow managed to survive the summer heats but there is like no growth. But now I have September to just unwind before the university starts. I gonna repot the plants that need that, take care of them more, do some thinking whether I wanna keep them all or not. Finally I have the time and mind to just sit with my tea and watch your chatty repots. I'm looking forward to seeing your spooky videos soon. Like I liked the autumn because of you. You know, sometimes you feel like we're on the journey with you, but at least for me some creators just travel with me as well. I love to look back and say "lets watch fern like on a cozy winter evening 2 years ago" its just so comforting. Im glad to catch up on your channel, plants, how your lifes going. I missed out on you buying the house but Im happy about it. And I want the cuprea now lmao such impressive leaves!!!

I’ve been watching your videos since before you were a plant channel and I’ve loved to see how you’ve grown over the years! big congrats on the new house, new space, new plant display in the back, everything's looking great! appreciate the open honesty. as for WFH/ self employed time management, I'm still figuring that out lmao. I'm super ADHD so time tends to slip away from me, but something that helps me is preparing my schedule the night before + I try really hard to do the longest or most unpleasant/ unfun tasks first so I feel super accomplished even if I don't do much else that day. I tend to do better when I do workouts/ meditation first then start my working day afterwards. You will figure out your best routine, you're dealing w lots of changes right now so it might take awhile just be gentle with yourself :)

I just love watching your videos! They are so relaxing and informative! I can’t tell you how many plants I’ve purchased after watching your videos (alocasia cuprea is now on my list lol) lol! I’m at the “hobby” part of this one … so thought I’d chime in with my hobbies. I love all things planty, I have a cute little Goldendoodle that takes up a lot of my time and attention and a betta fish that I’m trying so hard to keep aquatic plants alive for him… they’re not as easy as houseplants lol. I am a quilter and love to sit at my sewing machine and make things. I did recently start crocheting and I find it very relaxing, especially at night when the hubs is watching tv. I also enjoy reading and just recently (today) decided to give audible a try and am thinking that I can listen to a book while I crochet at night …. We’ll see how that goes! Thank you for sharing your hobby and houseplants with us!

I love all your videos and chats because it’s too gosh darn relatable! Doggy DNA kits... I did it and LOVED it. There are lots out there but I chose Embark because the interface is so nice and user friendly, plus it has so many cool features and the explanations are top notch. Some are like genetic breed result, a health summary or genetic risks which also gives you an option to share your results with your vet and it even lets you know if they have relatives based on other people who did the DNA test for their doggos. 10/10 for sure! Home ownership... I’m in my “do what makes me happy” era so this was a big realization for me. I’ve owned my house for almost 6 years now and I’ve been hesitant to make certain changes because people will put in your head the desire to consider resale which is so not important. Always putting resale first and making decisions based on that makes it feel like your renting and making your house for someone else. This is YOUR house, do whatever you want! I hate that it took me so long to realize that because I am loving the unique changes I’ve made that make me feel so joyful. Biggest piece of advice, do whatever you want! You can always just make another change ❤

We have a friend who fosters dogs and cats for her local shelter and she was caring for a pregnant stray and actually helped her deliver her *twelve* puppies 😅 me and my husband had been talking about getting a dog in the next year or two so when this happened it just seemed perfect! Our best friend took one as well and she actually got a DNA test for hers so it was so cool to find out what breeds they were mixed with! They definitely aren't totally accurate but it at least gives you an idea🤷🏻♀️ so we are now the PROUD parents of a pit/lab mix! And such a sweatie🥰

I used to be such a huge reader ❤ I need to get back into it so badly, and love watching book content! I have a decent sized book collection but I’d like to expand it, and I have some unread books I need to get to. I just end up sucked into my phone or tv, I put it on for background noise, then end up sucked into it instead.. I need to figure out my bedroom setup & get my cozy corner set up with the love seat & plant table, so I have a spot to read with no distractions…📚🪴 I’ll need to acclimate certain plants to the bedroom first, since it’s way different conditions in there compared to the main living/kitchen area, where I keep 99% of my plants 🪴😅 I’m working with only south facing windows in our apartment, but the living room has a covered balcony that prevents direct light from hitting my plants. The kitchen and bedroom don’t have that, so there’s direct sun on certain areas, so I need to be careful about which plants I put where 😅 Also sorry for the novel lmao 😅❤

Really enjoyed watching you upsize those beauties 👏🏼👏🏼 Also as a mum with a daughter who suffers from high levels of anxiety I can say with conviction that quitting coffee ( and caffeine in general) will REALLY help. I have seen such an improvement in my daughter since quitting caffeine. And I'm glad you were able to get out of that toxic work environment...I did the same a few years ago and haven't looked back. Small plants. I have a very 8:38 small area to repot. The biggest I did was my bird of paradise which was leaning to one direction and the soil on the other side was heaving out of the pot. So it got a new bigger pole. Took me a While to get it upright and balanced. looking beautiful where it is doing great. Then I made my first moss pole. Ugh. It’s crooked in the pot. I tried to use grafting tape but I couldn’t get it to work at all. I ended up looking for plant velcro that came with the poles. It’s lopsided but the pole is still intact and upright. It’s doing well. Two monstera plants on one pole. One has two leaves with fenestrations the other has none.

We moved in a week before lockdown, so was in a new house with no family or friends around ! i feel so grateful as here in the UK the prices are ridiculous, i hope it wasnt too bad for you Fern? also our mortgage is good right now but im hoping in the next two years it will calm when we have to renew. also people who are looking to buy, definatly look at who you go with for solicitors ect. Fern, trust me, you want to live in your home for at least a full year before you start landscaping. There are so many things to look at. Micro climates, drainage, sun/shade, soil condition, etc etc. When I bought my first house, I rushed into the landscaping and made some costly mistakes. Ended up having my brother design the space for me, and he worked out a great and beautiful space that worked with the conditions of my yard. He is not a landscaper or designer, but he's a fantastic gardener.

Another fan from the US, this time from Idaho. My daughter is a nurse, and she definately works hard at staying positive. She worked in a Neuro dept for many years, and recently moved to a out patient surgery dept. She no longer has to witness the trauma of death and dying which is so difficult. I recall her torn up about whether patients received proper care or not. Anyway, I am sure you are so much happier outside of that life. You do still contribute to the well being of others though. I started trying hobbies by going to the hobby store and spending $30-$40 on the basics for one hobby at a time. I've learned how to crochet, paint, oil pastel, work with clay, resin, fabric dying, jewelry making, and more from doing this. Besides plants and reading I’m an avid quilter. I’ve made several hundred quilts. I’ve stopped selling quilts and only gift them now. I also do some journaling.

Hobbies I enjoy are painting and needle felting. I have tried crocheting and I just can not get the hang of it, but my husband enjoys it.

I love Q&A videos! I agree with you. It somehow brings us closer to you and that’s really nice 💛 this one makes me want to start so many conversations with you while watching it lol but I wanted to comment on 2 remarks: you don’t know this, but I’ve found so many great reads by following you on Goodreads, and the last one was Quiet. It helped me understand myself as an introvert and make peace with some traits I have that are not socially accepted in a loud society. On the other hand, regarding hobbies, I’ve been attending pottery classes and I’m so happy with it! For some reason I picture you enjoying it as well. Let me know if I’m right or not 🙌🏻 much love from Colombia 🇨🇴

I got a dog DNA test as a Christmas gift one year. It was so cool learning about my dogs breeds and was surprising to see the results. Its so easy and fun! Definitely recommend getting one

I agree with you, sometimes you have to just say no to new hobbies. Right now, my main home hobbies are homebrewing and plants. I am also into a bunch of outdoor sports, but as you say, that's more of a personal maintenance thing (physical + mental health) than a hobby in my opinion. I snowboard, bike, hike, camp, rock climb, etc... I thought I would get into macrame for the plants but I bought all the stuff but have yet to use it, we'll see.

Omg I love the fall themed credits 😍🎃, I really get your time managment struggle! What I try to do is give myself one or two hours for a task (cleaning for example), after that I just stop doing that task even if I’m not done completely to move on to a new task. Maybe this can work for you, although I get that with making videos you just have to finish it on time and cannot stop halfway. I really enjoyed this video! It was heartbreaking to hear about your father😢💔 and I hope your insomnia and anxiety will get better now that the buying process and moving is over. Lots of love!! 💕

My hobbies, listening to true crime and murder mystery podcasts while I garden, outside and inside. I have a large property so have many garden areas I am slowly building up and rejuvenating. I was lucky to have some well established fruit trees when I bought my home. I built some veggie gardens and a chicken.pen, because chickens are a gardeners best friend. Free poo, free eggs, free pest control and soil aeration. Also have a worm farm, 4 slow composts, a cat, a dog and 3 fish. My next big project is setting up an aquaponic pond. I don't eat fish so will likely use koi, but I can't wait to add to my food output. Aiming at self sufficiency as much as possible so I can work less ❤
