Congratulations! I retired from practicing law two years ago and have really enjoyed having more time for other projects. I would like videos of 20-30 min, but I would encourage you to do what you need to do, at least in the short-term, to build your audience. For content, I'd be curious to see some dives into your collection -- for example, what is the best taupe eyeshadow you own, regardless of what palette it's in. Also, since your work is transitioning, how is your style and your tastes changing? I also think a subscription would be good. Perhaps an add-on members only once a month? Something like that?

Videos / content for the future: In depth reviews with tutorials such as Byredo Mineralscapes ( how I found you) you had inspired me so much I bought the palette immediately . Hair: most used products, take us through your routine and recommendations . ( gorgeous 💇🏽‍♀️) coloring ,shine, style etc. Best luxury palettes from year . Favorite pick from All the collections in a curated palette 6-12. 2. Time on videos: Short & sweet maybe 1-2 week. Longer in depth at least 1 -2 week, at least 1 dedicated on hidden gems. 3. Thank you for allowing your viewers the chance to voice their 2c. There are so few who care what we think and don't want viewer input. 1. I adore your recent venture into more contemplative beauty topics. More of these please, and keep up the Salty Saturdays. Your delve into your own stash are welcome topics too. 2. I'd be happy with one longer video on the weekends and 1-2 shorter videos. 3. Really depends upon what is offered to be honest. Something I'd need to assess as it comes. In all honesty, I watch your videos because I work in a very male dominated industry and I have no female friends of my age group who love makeup. Call it a parasocial relationship, but it is what it is. You keep me company at 6am on my train ride to the city and are a reprieve from the male world of trucks, clutch dust and I can pretend I am still part of a group of intelligent, educated women who love fine beauty. 😊

Omg I’m excited we will get to see more of you now on KZbin. The kind of videos I love that you do and would love to see more of is of you showing pieces you love from previous collections from Chanel or Dior etc and you incorporate them with newer collections so we can see what you are still using and loving. I wish to see the products from years past that we all bought so we can use them and continue to love them. The longer the video in my opinion the better. That’s why KZbin is my favorite format. Instagram is a close second for beauty releases coming and available for purchase along with swatches and quick reviews. So when you do a 30-45 minute video I love it!! I love to hear what you’re loving, how you recommend to use it etc. even better when it’s a get ready with me video showcasing those products. New and old and limited edition all great! I hope that is helpful. I never downloaded TikTok and hopefully never will. It’s just not my preferred style of watching videos and content. 1. I enjoy videos featuring older collections. Loved the one you did recently revisiting Chanel holiday over the years. So maybe the spring collections of 2022, basically doing an overview/demo highlighting beautiful collections a lot of us probably have but forget to enjoy. Of course I love seeing the new releases, but as a person trying to reign in my shopping, I’d personally like to focus on using what I have already. Also maybe some instruction on constructing entire looks- how to select the right blush and/or lip color, etc.. maybe how to manage large collections so people,like me don’t get overwhelmed and suffer from paralysis from analysis when deciding what to wear 😂 I find the lives hard to watch bc they are so long and hard to watch after the fact, and rarely am I able to actually participate in lives. I’d love it if you could offer personal consults. I know I have a lot to learn and love your aesthetic so much, I would trust you 💯- I don’t trust the department store people so much… 2. I prefer about 30 minutes. Short form is overwhelming to me bc I hate jumping around and finding things to keep my attention. 3. Consider personal consultations? That’s my suggestion for a new side plot for your channel. Retired lawyer here as well. Also graduated in 1997! From BC Law, and went on to work in Boston, PA, and CA, then back to MA. 3 bars jn 4 years- don’t recommend lol. Two kids, a dog, plus middle age- the law world was too much. so glad you are able to step away from the stressful grind and take care of you and hopefully have more fun in the beauty space! I love that this is the direction you’ve decided to go. You have been hinting that a change was in store, and I was afraid that meant you were retiring from You Tube. Whew! Please continue to keep it classy and luxurious. I love the smaller channels because they seen more personal and real. For programming I love a 30 minute video and also the Instagram Stories. Please continue rankings, top products by brand, thoughtful opinion pieces on the direction of luxury, and joint videos with Rhiannon, and of course, Sophia!! I would love to see more lives or have more chances to interact with you in the moment. I also love when you pull makeup out from seasons ago and put a look together (like I think normal humans do makeup?) rather than just featuring a whole new collection as some other YTers do. I think tutorials might be great as well for your viewers to get a better understanding of how to use certain products and since you do your own makeup so beautifully - something we can try to aspire to ourselves. No matter the content, you're still my absolute favorite person making beauty content on YT.

Yeah! I’m so glad we will be seeing more of you. Like you, I use KZbin as a break from life and a chance to indulge my passion for makeup and luxury. In terms of content, I’d love to see more Chanel (can never have too much). I tend to prefer longer videos and lives are fine here and there but generally not my favorite format. I’m in my mid 40s so mature friendly tips and skincare is always appreciated. I’m glad you are prioritizing health and you will do great! ❤

I’m so glad you are prioritizing your health and taking care of yourself. 💕💕 As for videos, I’d like having up to date brand guides-rundowns on products, must have shades, differences between lip or foundation formulas for the brand, what products to try first, what to pass on, etc. I’d love to see these for Chanel, Dior, Tom Ford, YSL, Prada, Chantecaille, Sisley. Or similarly but slightly different, videos comparing formulas of say blushes or foundation, etc. between the brands you cover. I like new release videos, of course, but I also like informative videos about makeup that wasn’t necessarily just released. I also love when you do Industry News and previews on upcoming releases. I’m a fan of long videos. I think 30 minutes is perfect, but I love when a video is 45 minutes. However, you have to do what you have to do to please the algorithm. I’ll watch shorter videos, too! I think a membership is a great idea, too!

Hi Jennifer, I would like to see videos where you show unique or special pieces from past collections, from Tom Ford, Chanel, etc. I would also appreciate tutorials on how to wear tricky eyeshadow palettes (like Tom Ford's Honeymoon), or taking us fully through an eye look for a palette we already own, including lining eyes, or showing how to line bottom lash line so it doesn't close the eye. I don't mind longer videos on You Tube. I also like seeing swatch comparisons in pre-taped segments vs in real time. I appreciate your focus on issues related to aging, like skincare and eyeshadow application on hooded eyes. You have a knack for creating beautiful eye looks that are different from others who review the same product. I really enjoyed your series on older makeup being of a higher quality than some of today's makeup. I applaud that you are taking time to stabilize and hopefully improve your health. I have a health condition that can make me quite ill. It required diagnosis and specialized treatment to stabilize. I am able to do so much more now. I applaud you for focusing your health at this time in your life.

Congratulations for hitting 10K. . . well deserved and more than due. 1. I like all your content but the commentary and the dips into perfume and fashion is especially welcome. I especially adore the monthly, quarterly, half year and final year summary reviews. Knowing what you go back to time and time again or what stood past the initial release does help all of us a lot. 2. I am very old school and love the longer videos. But knowing YT, it is fine with the 20 minute sweet spot they like. 3- A membership could include early access to videos or even just a once a month or twice a month lives we can ask you direct question. I love GRWMs whether to go out or going to bed. Videos on using older collections or products, possible dupes, and how you incorporate them in your routines. Reviews on products after a while to see how they’ve worked and kind of a “final thoughts” idea. Full face of XYZ. Length of videos I prefer to watch are 20-30 minutes. I’m okay with 40, depending on the content or I watch in parts. But please, nothing over an hour lol I don’t really subscribe to memberships so I can’t say much about that, but I do think it can be a good addition to your channel. So happy to be seeing more of you! More so, that you are tending to your needs and listening to what is most important and what remains in your best interest. I thoroughly enjoy your channel and it was within this luxury space that I have found a home. In keeping with that, I would still love to see your tutorials. Old makeup, new makeup, it doesn't matter at all, also introducing us to the brushes in your collection (I'm glad I'm not the only one who love brushes.) I find that an unrushed video is ideal for me to watch and learn from and is just plain fun. If longer videos won't be beneficial for you due to the algorithm, then shorter videos it is. I haven’t found anything that has wanted me to subscribe to any content creator..if I want something, I can usually find it on regular KZbin. As far as length, short form is good for things like swatches, lip swatches, or a tease of showing what’s in a collection. Regular videos I prefer 20-30 minutes. Rankings and best of the year type videos can go up to an hour. I’m pretty much only interested in luxury beauty, not fashion or bags or jewelry. I find vlogs and lives to be tedious if they get rambly. I love comparisons most - like taking a new collection and showing how it’s close to coveted past products, or how to get the vibe of a new collection with other products or brands. For example I missed out on Reve de Camilla, so I’m interested in new products that are similar. Or like comparing YSL Over Noir to Guerlain Imperial Moon or Hermes Ombré Fume. I’m 52, so I feel ya about perimenopause, and I enjoy content that helps navigating my increasingly hooded eyes and less elastic skin. 😊

Congrats on your 10K! I have been watching you for quite a while now, having originally found you when I was looking for someone with the same skin shade as myself. I’m happy you’re taking more care of yourself - as someone with an autoimmune condition as well I can relate. I’d like to see more tutorials, especially geared towards more mature women and new product reviews with a slant to how they work on more mature skin. My preference for video length is between 20 and 30 minutes, but outliers can happen naturally and that’s no problem. This brings me to ‘lives’ - I generally don’t watch them, because they’re often not convenient and there is to much chaos, which makes them much longer than needed. I do like vlogs, like when you met with Michelle and Sofia. I do prefer makeup and skincare over fashion, etc, btw. I’m not sure about the subscription model - don’t know what it would offer me that I already get from the few channels I regularly watch. Good luck with your endeavors - I’ll be watching! Glad to hear that you will be taking better care of yourself (I know about health stuff and enjoy the beauty distractions, including your channel!) and that we will be seeing more of you! Mostly answering the first question: I love to see swatches and your comparisons, especially of shades and older releases, since you have a large collection and historical and institutional knowledge! I also like videos focusing on one brand or comparing maybe 2 or 3 similar brands. Tutorials occasionally! I do feel disappointed though when the products aren’t available (like that Dolce powder and the Chanel Rosy Beige cream … how you made me lust for those products and check for them for months!). 20 to 30 minutes is ideal. Mature skin stuff yes, though I have to brag that my skin at 70 is pretty great (at least the texture!) i don’t do Instagram and I’m way too old for Tik Tok. Our skin tones are close and I have reddish hair so I like your color choices!

If Prada and Cle de Peau will be available in Australia I’ll be interested in these two as well. -suggestions about makeup application like: - what brush (shape, hair type) works best for Sisley/ Gucci/Hermes etc. blushes - what eye brushes (shape, hair type) works best for all over the lid, outer corner, inner corner etc. for different eyeshadow formulas - application techniques for eyeshadows (for different eye shapes/eye colours, skin colours etc.) - brand reviews (best/not so great makeup) - when a new release comes out I would like to see (if any) comparison with similar products (colour story, texture etc. and where the product is made - more videos about existent makeup - brand history, who owns the brand and how this affect the company I am interested only in makeup related videos. Q2 I prefer 20-40min or even a bit longer if I am very interested about the content. I watch KZbin mostly and max 10-15min/day Instagram. I don’t have a TikTok account and no plan to create one. I don’t like lives (they last forever and it’s a lot of time waisted with no valuable information and no possibility to put time stamps) and collabs are fine as long as they are 3-4/year. Congrats! Excited to see how you continue to grow your channel. I like seeing new product launches being tested and overviews of favorites from particular brands. 15-20 minutes is the sweet spot for video length. Lives are fun if watching live, but often too long to rewatch later if I couldn’t join live. Currently don’t belong to any private membership. I haven’t been convinced of the value of that, but would be curious to see what you’d create in that space.

What a fun and exciting new chapter for you! I would love to see more makeup looks using your favorite products, even if they are older (shop my stash). I know a lot of people like to see what's new but I like to see what is good. I appreciate information on formulas such as what blurs pores best, lipsticks that don't dry out the lips, eyeliners that don't transfer, etc. I have found that my sweet spot is 20-25 minutes but if it's a topic I am really interested in, I will watch regardless of the duration. Loved your collab with Sophia in which you focused on the business aspect of some of the companies. I don't hear anyone else talking about such things. I hope everyone has a great holiday season!!❤

Jen, I so appreciate your channel and all the work you put in. It is a lot of work. The biggest value add for me in subscribing to your channel and Patreon is getting earliest reveal and reviews of product from the Chanel, Dior , Prada, Tom Ford, Hermes, etc. the earlier the better for me. I buy just about all of every luxury collection for a very long time when product is good. Lots of not great product these days so I really do appreciate knowing in advance which products are not good buys. Hope to see a lot of your videos next year.

I also suffer from several auto immune diseases. 10 years ago, I quit my career and walked away from a lot of money to preserve my health and wellbeing. Luckily I have support from my husband but I have zero regrets at all about quitting work after a very successful, high profile job. Feeling better is more important than money and having so much. Now i have time to enjoy all my beautiful purchases I didn’t have before. They are more meaningful to me now.

Hi Jen--I first watched this video a few days after you posted it--I was surprised by your news but also very pleased for you! Anyway, to answer your questions: 1) Beauty video content: I enjoy all kinds of beauty videos, but my favorites are those that feature careful, thought-out perspectives with a distinct point of view. You once made a video giving your extensive thoughts on Tom Ford quads, providing some historical info on the formulas and how they all performed. I just love it when people go into deep dives like that. Maybe because it shows their expertise and passion for the product, service, technique, etc.--but also I think it's just showcasing an authentic interest, which is always great to see, IMO. On a more generic level though, I do love product comparisons and tutorials. I will say, as someone in menopause who struggles with making her health a priority--I'd love to hear about your health journey--but I also totally understand the desire to keep your private life separate from your channel. 2) Video length: I do appreciate longer videos but tend to save those for weekend viewing. And before I watch (or listen to) a video, I do check the time before I dig in. I tend to feel relieved when a video is about 11-12 minutes but 15-20 min is also great. I do enjoy YT shorts and IG reels (I do love reels that show eyeshadow swatches). But hey, the YT algorithm is king, so I would go with whatever you need to do to make sure the channel gets visibility! 3) Subscriptions: I've been intrigued by YT subscriptions but have not signed up for any yet. I do have maintain a handful of Patreon subscriptions, which I put careful thought into before signing up. I have been a low-tier Patreon subscriber of yours for a while. Honestly it's not because I wanted to get special access to your videos, but rather because I just kind of relate to you (I'm also 50+ years old, very career driven, enjoy creative pursuits and *love* dogs), and I wanted to support your work on the channel in some small way. I don't know what special offering would induce me to sign up for a YT subscription, but I'd be open to signing up for one. Hope this helps in some way. So excited for you as you make this change in your life--I'll be cheering you on from this side of the screen!

Answers to questions. I prefer 25-40 minute videos, nothing shorter than 8-9 minutes. Detest shorts. I don’t mind really long videos of up to an hour if the topic is interesting like declutters or industry news or new releases. Some tutorials are fine, but not too many. I watch only KZbin, not instagram or TikTok. As for what kind of videos I would like to see - definitely industry news without the “outrage” factor that seems to be the focus of so many other beauty news channels. An example of industry content could be going to the factory of a company to see how they manufacture products, if any will allow that, or interviewing business owners. Loved the interview Sofia did with Amit. Or something like a video highlighting unique beauty or fragrance boutiques in a city. I was in Boston for a conference last month and I had a free day. I ended up walking the Freedom Trail, but I would have loved a tip on where to find a cool perfume shop or beauty shop (not Ulta or Sephora or designers). There must be some unique shops in Boston that you could highlight. Wasn’t Fresh started in Boston? I usually scope out cool needlework shops when I travel, but I would love to know where the fragrance and beauty shops are too. For example, there is supposed to be a great fragrance shop in San Francisco where you can sniff hundreds of niche perfumes. Something like that. I stumbled upon a Trudon boutique in NYC and it was super fun to go in and sniff everything. I intend to scope out some other places in NY in the future. Or where you can go to get a good makeover to try new products. I feel like big dept stores kind of limit you to one brand. Or maybe it is just the Nordstrom’s where I live that is not the most comfortable place for a try-on. As for a subscription, probably not unless you did this travel/industry focus kind of content that I cannot seem to find for free. Lastly, I really enjoy seeing the old beauty products and how they swatch next to newer ones. I have purchased some older products on EBay based on your videos. And please keep commenting on the amount of glitter in certain products. Several times I was really tempted by a product and you commented on the glitter factor which saved me money. I am not that interested in jewelry and handbags, but I can just skip those videos if you do dedicated content rather than mixing them with beauty content in one video. Glad you will be able to spend more time doing what you enjoy.
