I agree but she isn't going to open up her farm. She's talking about doing it somewhere like Highpoint where VS Code Red is so people wouldn't come to her farm. They would go there instead for it. Her farm is her safe place and it definitely wouldn't be good to have it there because people can be crazy and they do some shady things.
@Lextacy064 ай бұрын
@JessicaNace-km8vi No, she's talking about Running Springs. She said she'd consider doing something like Highpoint does with their open house event. I don't think it would be a good idea, at all. Not with how psychotic some fans are... sneaking on their property, going to the Vet clinic to "visit" seven, attacking other horse owners/breeders, and attacking clients of Running Springs. That's just asking for trouble.

I cannot believe that someone who has probably never spent one day on a farm, thinks that your animals are being used or however they put it. I'll tell you most animals would go crazy to live on such a wonderful farm. I think people forget that they are animals not humans. They have been here living hard lives way before the internet came along and used to make people a living and a lot of time for food. Farming is not all a glamorous life and too many trolls do not understand actual farm life. Your animals are so well loved and taken care of while still being working animals. Katie stay strong and don't let these trolls get you down. They know not what they speak.😊❤

If your animals are under “torment and misery,” I would’t mind being “tormented miserable” as one of your animals. Your animals know nothing but love and that shows in every single one of your videos. The amount of trust they show not just you but your barn staff and vets is incredible. ❤

Add to the fact that the horses (and cows) are doing what they would normally do, have babies every year or so. It's natural. Katie just decides when it's going to happen for the horses and, she makes sure they end up on good farms.

Katie-no reason to open your farm to the public. You give enough via social media. Maybe someday, have an official petting zoo as a non-profit for schools to be able to use as field trips & little kid birthday parties. You could charge extra for meet & greets that could go towards saving a mare from a kill pen to be a recip mare. Lots of ideas to connect to the public in person without having them in your home.
@LillyLou4 ай бұрын
I’m a little late to the party, but yes. Don’t open up Running Springs to the weird public we have today. Maybe, some day in the future, Katie could buy a separate property for the mini farm and use that as a petting zoo (as you mentioned) or something else. Maybe bring a few of the ‘less’ valuable horses from time to time. But keep your home private.

I think the perfect example that shows how deeply you care about your horses is Phoebe. (Very sorry if i spelled that wrong) She’s a recip you don’t even own. Yet you took the time to desensitize & make her feel better by trimming her main. Just look at how her actual owners took care of her. Just like a puppy mill that has no respect for the breed or values on life. Long time fan though and keep doing what you’re doing Katie!

The name for the video: The behind the scenes with Katie! I 100% agree with the question that was asked “can people come visit your farm” people doesn’t realize that’s where you live and where your homestead is!! I wouldn’t want complete strangers around my property and where I’m from we confront strangers in the country way! 😂 it’s a liability when you have a farm and you have so many animals to protect! Your advise about what you would give to younger self is beautiful, your super blessed to be where you are and you have every right to tell people you made it! You’re inspiring and love watching the animals! Don’t stress and love what you’re doing! Although from the videos I see it always looks like you’re super happy and just meant to be on camera!

Love the q&a. Love your posts! If I were younger I would come work for you. 😊 Having worked on a Arabian horse farm and owning my own stallion was the best part of my life. There are so many things available now that we didn't have then. The science that goes into now is interesting. Our horses goats and other animals were very pampered like yours. We even had a Xmas party for them. Which took months of preparation. Usually 100 people or more attending. It's a gift God gives us to be able to communicate with animals. Keep up the great work!!

the demon voice! They did Katie dirty? Some people need to realize the idea about opening Running Springs to the public is that not only is Katie responsible for her horses but, also horses that people pay Katie to boarder there. I believe it's only a handful. But, it would not be good if something were to happen to those horses and her horses because Katie opened Running Springs up to the public.

Completely understand not wanting the liability of tours, especially since it is also your home. However, it is a great way to introduce people to the sport and show off your horses. You could do an annual appreciation day and limit access to friendly areas, and access to limited merch. Until Secretariat, TB farms did not do public tours. Penny Chenery asked Claiborne how they were going to handle his fans. They said they weren't. She said they would have to. Ever since them TB farms have regular public tours. Since I have an extremely well-bred mare, I can visit any farm with little notice and they will pull the top stallions out for me (Curlin and American Pharoah are quite impressive in person). Lane's End let me pet the most expensive horse in the world, Flightline, who is worth $184MM and Gainesway let me pet Flightline's sire of sires and my colt's grandsire, Tapit, worth about $130MM, though he is close to retirement at 23. My currently chestnut colt may go gray thanks to his pink skin and Tapit, but I forgive him.
