First off...I love you! Love your work and your infectiously upbeat personality! I looked and didn't see this tip mentioned. I work with epoxy on tumblers, and trust me... I've had my share of epoxy hair and drips etc. I keep baby wipes on my desk. Add long as I catch it while wet.... it cones right off. I even use it to wipe up my gloves in the middle of a project.

Also, for cleaning resin off table tops or work station, 91% isopropyl alcohol works really well. It also works well if you’re a messy artist (like me) and get it on your skin. I usually keep a rag wetted with alcohol next to me so I can wipe my gloved hands on so I don’t get resin on any other tools I’m using. I know it’s really hard to find rubbing alcohol right now, but you can also use denatured alcohol (99%) and that’s usually an easy find at Lowe’s or Walmart. I’ve been binging your vids for the last 3 days! And your work is absolutely beautiful! Something new for me to try. I actually found one of your videos (about using white to sink color) when I was just starting to use alcohol ink in my resin last year. It was SO helpful! You’re a joy to watch and have such an infectious personality!

Okay I have a serious question and you are the flower queen so you are the go to person to ask. Dandelions in resin. ....like the blow and make a wish dandelions,.... ...there are dozens of videos where people put them in resin but NO ONE mentions drying it out first. .....but as we know, drying flowers before casting them in resin is a must and a dandelion is a flower. I just bought a mini popsicle mold tray that has six little circles that are perfect for dandelions but I need your expertise before I launch into it.

Hi Heather! Thank you so much for your video with all the super helpful tips. Can I please ask how you dry flowers with silica gel without the silica gel making little gel dents on the petals? I love you all the way from Australia 💗 PS: 1) I've experimented 3 layers, 4 layers, 5 layers and 6 layers of ink ang there is no difference! How weird but true! 2) Small flowers also shrink in silica gel 😔 maybe try a dehydrator?

Just wanna add if you buy resin at a craft store make sure even if it says clear resin if its tinted in any way yellowish or brownish... This color will not fade when you mix it n will ruin your pieces you make. My first kit was tinted n i started with jewelry thinking the $25 dollar kit will last forever doing pendants. Was not worth it. I now use art resin with no prob n no VOCs they say. Less fumes too. There are others like it. If you watch enough resin vids everyone kind of has theyre go to brands. Some brands depend on what you wanna make so definitely learn from others mistakes. But theres is alot of help out there. Its a great community i found. I also found disposable cups n wood sticks are best. I triedsilicone reusable stuff like measuring cups n silicone sticks n the clean up was insane because how much n how often i make stuff.

For picking colours, I sometimes use the colour wheel and the “rules” of neighbours, opposites, same quarter theory. But mostly I just look to Mother Nature, if she puts colours together, I will too. So I look to colours from nature, from blended shades of one colour, to totally gaudy clashes.

I've been binge watching your videos for the past 3 days! And everything you do is so amazing!! and right up my alley of what I try. @krittenhs
@krittenhs 4 жыл бұрын
BaileyButton11 I used that at first and it worked really well. Now that I’m more experienced using it, I like the art n glow that she mentioned, but I also use a good heat resistant resin for making coasters and trivets (it’s heat resistant to 500°). For that, I like Stone Coat Countertops art coat resin and Faux Rizzle. I haven’t tried the Counter Culture that Heather uses, but I’m thinking about giving it a try.

I just wanted to give a tip on getting sticky resin out of grooved molds. I am not sure if you have already heard of this but OMG it saved my brand new candy dish mold and I was so happy. 1)put on gloves 2) Try and gently scrape as much of the sticky, goopy resin out of the mold as you can. 3) stick your molds in the freezer for about two hours. 4) put gloves back on and start gently cracking the hardened pieces out of the mold! you will have to clean the mold with nail polish remover to get the sticky residue off but wow what a life saver. - Syndie Martin

I just found your channel and love it. I am going through all your videos right now..but I do have a question I have not seen yet... I have an object I want to incase in Resin...it needs to be in the middle of the resin sphere (of course..otherwise it would look off ) but it has some weight to it so I want to pour some resin in first. let it cure and then after 24 hours I will be able to sit my object on the cured resin and pour the rest over it.... (does that make sense...?) BUT I heard that you will see a line where the two layers are..is there a way to avoid that? Thanks for all the info and help in your videos.. your bubbly personality makes me smile a lot :)

it’s important to keep the temp of the molds & resin the same, some people recommend putting the resin/molds in a lukewarm bath (in a plastic, water proof bag of course). dipping any enclosures in resin beforehand will also help to reduce surface tension tht produces tiny bubbles :-) there’s many more tips for reducing surface tension online as well tht might help you

I need some education!! What’s the difference in epoxy and resin? Can you use epoxy for the same concept? Also..counter culture is out of stock!! What do you suggest??
@Bobo-gm9fd
@Bobo-gm9fd 4 жыл бұрын
The main difference between both adhesive types is the drying time. Both epoxy and resin adhesives require mixing before use, but epoxy hardens much faster than resin glue. ... Resin glues take longer to cure, about 8-10 hours, while epoxy adhesive only takes about 6-30 minutes
