I have 4 mares and 2 donkeys. My husband and I moved to our property which is quite remote 4 yrs ago, we have 25 acres of scrub and forest running beside a river. I have the same experiences you have with your herd. I talk to them all the time and sing (they love being sung to while they are eating). What I have noticed is that the birds flock around - primarily of course to pick up the oats the horses drop - but they fly around me really closely, even landing on the toe of my boot. My horses are just like yours and I have noticed that I only have to think, "move over girl", and that horse moves. I have shared my experiences with others and they "think I am nuts". Our fourth mare we bought last year, ex. trotting racer and she was very aggressive towards me, to the extent that I was feeding out hay one morning after having 3 weeks of rain the paddock was a mud hole in places and I got stuck fast. The new mare came up and started backing up to me, flattened her tail and I had no doubt what was about to happen. Our herd leader came from "nowhere", I didn't see her coming and bit the new horse on the rump. I have no doubt she probably saved my life. Since then I have done a lot of talking to the newbie and can now walk behind past her with no worry that she might lash out. She seeks me out now too. I can only imagine the horrors she has had to endure in her racing life. I recently found out that they wean the foals as early as 3 months old, shut them up in stables for hours on end, no wonder they have no trust. She is 6 yrs old, we have had her 9 mths and she has had 4 owners in her short life. She is also a wind sucker/cribber so needs a lot of memory healing. I just want to thank you for putting up these videos and encourage you to keep doing so. I also work with my horses at liberty from just hanging out with them to trimming their feet and just like your experience, occasionally I get "not today thank you" come back tomorrow, so I do, I never force them to do anything, that is one of the reasons I stopped getting the farrier in. He was always in a rush and they played up terribly.

I love revisiting the videos 😁. Melani Baker here. I was inspired by your words Gini. I feel you invite us, those who resonate with you, whether we realize it yet or not LOL, to consider looking at our behaviors and spaces we hold. Especially before we thrust our perspectives and beliefs in actions and ways of caring for any other being(s) without considering if serves the highest good for all involved. Practice makes perfect lol. This is my perspective and like you, lol, my opinions and perspectives are subject to change at any moment due to expansion LOL. I learn and grow every day hopefully so that means anytime things can change a little or a lot lol. Okay I hope I made you smile you certainly warmed my heart like always sending you love and if you're busy you don't have to respond I'm not telepathic yet but I know you are LOL LOL 😁🤣 so many hugs to you and much respect and love to the herd. ☺️

It's so wonderful that you are sharing your journey in your herds world. It's so refreshing to find people without an agenda that wish to love and be a part of nature. That is truly what it's about. When i put out food for wild birds and have them surrounding me with their high energies, and feeling those emotional states, and sometimes it's almost a magical thing where a wonderful state of peace is within all of us, and everything becomes still, sometimes wonderful things happen. If we weren't willing to give up those human ego states, that just couldn't happen. So thank you for sharing.

VERY well described Len! I often think that if my videos featured elephants - rather than horses - I would not get the same kind of criticism. People seem much more able to accept and recognize that elephants (whales, lions, etc) are fully sentient beings, where it's worth it just to BE around them!

ListenToYourHorse Not to be critical of my species, but yes you are right. How wonderful it is that you have the support of like minded people to share experiences, to have help when needed. Sharing knowledge like you do encourages others to do the same. Each person who is thereby touched and encouraged to reach out and cherish other species makes the world seem brighter. That joy spreads out like the rings that happen when a pebble is dropped in water. 🐴. 🦉

Jini you are my inspiration!!! When others ask who would you share time with if you could ( other than my mom who passed away 1 year ago) its you! Your team and especially you, have opened up my world to understanding horses, listening to horses and especially now, emmersing myself amongst their presence! Because of you, and how at peace you are, I began volunteering at 2 horse ranches 1 year ago!!! Back then, I knew nothing about them, other than what I heard people were doing with them, however if I was honest it really upset me. I too believe, that they should just be themselves, and not for human profit or any other selfish means. You opened my eyes and I'm so grateful for it. I began volunteering at one ranch here in Edmonton, Alberta where 3 beautiful horses and 3 donkeys reside. After my moms passing I took it hard! See, ever since I was 5 yrs old, I grieved the day when I knew I would lose her! So, when she intuitively connected with me ( and it was loud and clear), I suddenly had a yearning to be on the land and amongst these animals. It was then that I began researching how to truly connect with horses, and came across a lot of videos, but it wasn't until I found yours, did I begin my true spiritual journey of understanding who I was. I'm now at a horse rescue ranch where the owner ( who is so like you), has 75 rescued horses, freed from the most tragic abuse and neglect I've heard of. And who have been saved from being bid , on at auction to be slaughtered. ( FOR HUMAN CONSUMPTION) I've watched your videos over and over, as they remind me of how far I've come in understanding them. I mourned when Montarro and the boys moved afar, and grieved not ever seeing them ( I still do). They were a huge part of my journey, and because of your herd and all you do, I'm now understanding more the gift I've always had with animals, but never knew truly how to listen, until now. Now, I love just holding space with them, and when I'm invited I massage and move energy in them that I can intuitively feel and sense within myself. Every technique you've taught me has inspired me to spend more and more time with them, practicing this gift and learning more about the human-equine spiritual relationship. To be honest, these horses saved my life, as dreading the day when my mom would pass, I always knew it was a way out for me! So, continue to ignore all those who may never have the opportunity to truly connect with these beings, and keep posting more videos....You are my inspiration and role model, and I can only hope one day to finally meet with you, and all your amazing team. I am here, loving life more than I ever could imagine, and finally discovering my true purpose ❤ Lots of love 💘 💕

Love you, Jini and Crew. You are super human beings that are always open to new experiences and learning from your horses. Humans are so conditioned to think a certain way that it is predictable. The horse I spend the most time with is a feral arabian stallion. He has taken up reaching over and giving me a little touch with his nose every several steps as we walk together. I put his leadrope on if there are other people around but otherwise we don't need it. Sometimes he wishes to be touched but other times he'd rather not. I had to place a sign on his gate telling people not to enter because someone has been trying to touch him. That will get someone hurt. It takes awhile for him to decide if he's willing to allow any given person to be around him unless I'm standing right there letting him know it's okay. It took spending a lot of time with him before he decided to trust me and know I'm looking out for him and will watch his back when we're out and about or when there's another person around. I was mistaken when I thought his trust would include other humans. It doesn't. He takes each one individually.

Personally, I’ve been watching your videos for about a year and I love everything you do with these horses. I love that you respect them so much, give them choices and all them to have their voice heard. I am very inspired by your stories and how they have changed your life. Wild horses are not your typical horse and you have found an incredible way of being with them. I know you have taught them stuff for their own safety such as fires and needing them to load. Your care for them is exceptional and it’s obvious to me because of how all the horses look. I loved how happy your barn assistant was to be there with them. He is quite remarkable in how open he is to the concepts of these wild horses. I love, love, love what all of you are doing here so much!!! Keep up the great work and keep those videos coming!!

i got taught so much by my mare that i eventually changed and you are so right. my mare got me out into nature. she showed me the life she wanted to live. at home she was standing in front of the door and wanted to leave. eventually she got her own daughter because i had saved a foal from slaughter but they did not get on well. both had their own daughters. now my mare is dead for two years and she was 31 years old. but at least she had the life she wanted with her foal and two other horses with their foals from the same stallion. i used to graze a lot with the whole herd taking them out into the dehesa. i cannot explain why i like horses but seeing them happy makes me happy. i will never want to go back to the horse stables with tacky people. i czn see clearly now that the horse industry is big business and all is there for the sake of money. newcomers are usually impressed by the elegant gear and powerful horse athletes. but horses are more than glamour. horses are lovely beings. and so fragile. even the most violent horse has no change against a nasty handler who breaks his will and forces him into obedience turning a sound creature into a cripple. horses are so fragile to negligence in places where they do not belong like dark boxes with dirty water feeders. horses are so fragile handled by the unexperience covering the horses with three layers of blankets. horses are so fragile when they get colic and nothing helps.❤❤❤

Just being around them, accepted by them, friends with them us my ultimate dream. Screw the haters! Let them rant and rave in their domineering fashion. They dont matter. I feel bad for them. There is nothing like true love from another creature (horse or otherwise) who, by their OWN choice, CHOOSES to accept you, love you, to befriend you. We have become a culture where bullying others into conformity and feeling threatened by those who walk a different path is so common as to seem "normal" when it isn't. It's sad you have to defend yourself. It was cool to hear your perspectives though. I'm not a horse person. I love horses, but I've been on one no more than ten times. Otherwise I admire them from a far! I have a cat whom I know is perceptive and spiritual and this has ignited an interest in animal communication. I watch your videos to hear a new perspective on life and animals. I completely resonate with what you said about respect, and also, even when you respect someone, finding your own path and not blindly following. Thank you for confirming my own intuition on that. Recently we visited someone who had adopted two older kittens. They were training them to accept being touched everywhere so that a vet can do that and they seemed confused by my asking the cats if I could touch them. These cats don't know me so I don't have standing permission like I do with my own cat. Even so, I respect when our cat doesn't want to be touched or held or picked up. To a degree I have trained this elderly rescue cat to accept being picked up briefly, but I put him down when he insists, which has built trust on him to know that we will put him down when he asks. Because of this, the neighbor's two year old grandchild last summer picked him up very awkwardly and he accepted it with grace. I was so proud of him! If he gets disrespectful and pissy, I hold him firmly longer and tell him it's okay to want to get down but not okay to be disrespectful. Usually I try to respect his wishes in most things. After visiting this other family, I felt uncertain of my approach, wondering whether I should be training him to accept his paws being touched. Considering his distrustful background, I haven't wanted to create a situation where he associates me with being touched in ways he hates. He's 17 and his back claws don't retract. If he doesn't get them worn down outside now that spring is here, I will have to clip them, particularly the dew claw. I have been a bit concerned about that. Your video affirmed my desire to respect the cat's boundaries as much as is reasonable and to remember that he knows when I'm trying to help him verses when I'm just trying to dominate him. Thank you!

I'm a disabled NYC 55 yr old woman who was born & bred there. I got to your channel today thru a rabbit hole of video's that started with Cesar Millan leading to your vid with Güliz Ünlü. . I have been exposed to horses probably the most via a mounted cop. Childhood brought on a fear of horses after a pony ride, where I slid off. Teenage-hood a HS trip to a "ranch" with trail riding brought me nothing but humiliation from fellow classmates. So, I never really had a good relationship with my experience of the noble breed. Your above mentioned video [ & blog listentoyourhorse.com/equine-bodytalk-animal-communication-healing-session ] has deepened my appreciation & now great fondness for horses. . I tell you all this to say that, now with toxic social media & the source of that toxicity seemingly to be never spreading, it is difficult to have a media account like KZbin without being influenced by it. We can choose to ignore it by utilizing the mute setting on commenting or we can choose to address it, as you have. And, I might add, your comments were spot on in my opinion. In the beginning you came out with your strength & then you softened beautifully. Stand your ground for what you believe in is my motto in life & you did that with great dignity, knowledge, & experience. . I someday hope to ride a horse. TY. You have inspired me. #StandStrong

The people who are telling you that you are doing this and that wrong don't understand what you are doing there. They think that we as humans need/have to impose our will on others, be it animal or human. That humans know what is "best". I love what you're doing. As an energy worker I have tried to allow myself to go with my instinct and intuition concerning many aspects of my own life. It has at times put me in conflict with people who think I am nuts, that I need to do things this way or that. I literally go with my gut when making decisions, if something is right it feels "right". If something is wrong it feels "wrong". What you are doing is what more people probably should be doing. Contrary to popular belief we have not been given dominion over the animals but instead are supposed to be good stewards of the planet.

I love what y'all are going for here.. Who's being so defensive here?? No really? Is that noise in your head You? That's the ontological inquiry that seperates the what ever it is that they seperate . We/well I ain't agin ya there deery. You doing God's work some of it anyway. You keep on.

I think a lot of our limited mind set also comes with the notion of growing up, I mean, looking at children they might be naive and young but because of their innocence they can see things clearly from an un biased point of view at times, they see things we don’t. Something we forget as we grow and mature around a limited mindset culture. I think sometimes we have to look at children as a good example or insight to understand other species and the planet itself. And we also need to remind ourselves not to force our modern culture small minded nature onto our children just because that is what WE were taught, or the way WE were taught.

Brilliant! Totally agree and I've received the same reactions from people over how we've raised our 3 children as the horses ;)

I’ve been watching your videos for a long time, almost since you started filming and putting them out there, and I love them. And I love how you approach it. But. I think when it comes to care, that is to prevent damage from happening later on is also important. However, I think there is a way that that care can coincide with how you interact with your horses. That’s interactive clicker “training” and honestly I wouldn’t really call it training, because a horse can either decide it wants to or if it doesn’t want to. Yet, because you are giving them rewards and goodies, it has something they might want at the end of it. Forming an interactive and playful way to look I to the care they need. They use it at zoos all the time to work with the animals, and yea, sometimes the animals don’t want to do it that day, and it’s their choice. I think that’s what your looking for care wise. Something that’s their choice, and something they enjoy, while you’re making sure they are in perfect health so they can live long and happy lives.
@ListenToYourHorse5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for sharing your ideas and I always look forward to your comments :) I've studied clicker training and Kesia learned it and used it for a while. Yes, it does work. And yes, the horse/animal has choice whether to perform for the treat, or not. So for people wanting a lower-pressure way to produce a desired result, it works well. It still assumes that the human knows best. And that it is the human's right to dictate the conditions of another being's body. I don't. And I am totally fine with a horse choosing to be in pain, rather than ingest bute which damages their gut - because their body wisdom chooses that (for example). I believe that - because they are fully sentient - the animal is FULLY aware of what is happening with their body and the consequence. If Cobra chooses to be lame for a week and trim his own hoof - that is his choice. Because he owns his body and he has autonomy over it. He watched Kaliah and Makah (also wild and don't want to be touched) have their hooves trimmed because THEY chose that. He is fully aware of the choice he has. He chose No. I respect that.

I know you and Rick Gore don't see eye-to-eye on a lot of things but just maybe you should consider offering your condolences to him on his loss of Mr. T. There are times when it's best to put aside differences.

Can you still contact/talk with domesticated horses? Can you still have the same relationship with a horse that is alone in a pasture because you can't afford another horse?
@ListenToYourHorse5 жыл бұрын
We can talk/listen to ALL animals - regardless of circumstance. I don't think it's about having the 'same' relationship, as even within this herd, I have different relationships with each one of them. I think you and your ranch are amazing! I absolutely love what you're NOT doing with those beautiful beasts... dominating and forcing them to do what you want. How loved they must feel!!! Ignore the haters ... maybe someday they'll realize we all have souls, and stop living in their egos. :) tc

I couldn't agree more! People are so narrow minded and live ine that little precious "human society" bubble just to make themselves feel safe and secure and overreact over stupid things just because we don't do things how they think. I'm totally with you on the love of horses. I mean I want to ride but not because I think they have to be ridden but because I enjoy sharing the experience with them. However more than anything I just love to be with them and rarely ride anyway. Infact I take mine for walks mainly, sometimes even off the halter, though in some cases I can't due to public pathways and roads. Have you heard of New Forest in England? They let the ponies free roam and keep them feral there, you'd love it!

Yes I have heard of them, my friend Kesia went there last year and thoroughly enjoyed herself - and they instantly employed her superior scratching abilities :)

Rick Gore is a bully! I watched a lot of his videos until he made misogynistic statements in several of his videos. Not only that but Rick Gore wouldn’t accept or even understand energy communication! Horses are FAR more intuitive than we as humans give them credit because we are arrogant and think animals can’t think or feel.
@ListenToYourHorse4 жыл бұрын
Yeah he's sarcastic, insulting, and misogynistic BUT he has done a LOT of good for the horse. So I'm glad he's around to counter all the abusive trainers. I actually think his horses do communicate with him - whatever label he might (or might not) give it. I haven't watched a whole lot of his videos though - his style/tone/attitude doesn't appeal to me - but I've watched enough to know he's honestly trying to make life better for the horse.

Respect is a human concept and has absolutely nothing to do with horses.
@ListenToYourHorse5 жыл бұрын
I have never even heard a good definition of "respect" - it's a very strange concept.
@leealexander35075 жыл бұрын
@@ListenToYourHorse It seems to be uniquely human. It's when you greatly admire someone for either their accomplishments or simply for who they are. I don't have the right words, it seems. You can respect your horse or another human. But I question whether any other creature even has such a concept. What most people mean when they say "make the horse respect you" or "make the horse respect your space" is make your horse fear the consequences of not doing as you wish. If I didn't want a horse in my space I wouldn't have horses.

Hi.. I like to watch your videos. They are different n not at all I am your leader so you have no option but accept me as your leader kind of videos.. although i have one question.. this may sound to be a foolish question but am curious.. so you don't train them you are not in a hurry to have them listen to you so wat exactly is happening at your end.. are they just like eating n having fun at your place.. I don't know our minds are trained such tat I find it hard to accept tat you are having them feeding them and let them chill at your place without aggressively training them to listen to you or teaching them so tat you can ride.. find it a bit confusing.. also it's just past 3 days I have started watching your videos.. also I have never been around a horse in my life.. but I love them they are majestic... Thanks

I think you have to view it in the same way you view a buddhist monk or an Indian yogi - what do they DO all day? Just sit around and meditate? How can that be enough of a life? Just keep watching, you'll get it :)

I think also, you are not running a "stable" of race horses or horses that have been trained to do a job or stuff like that. Your horses are free horses, or wild horses or untainted horses or horses that have maybe been abused?? not sure on that last one, but i see the difference.....
@AnjolieFM2 күн бұрын
So when you do need vet intervention, your horses will suffer because you refuse to train them to be handled. Abuse. Hilarious you said theres no such thing as herd dynamics, then the guy rxplains all about the herd' s pecking order. You have no clue about anything horse related and have no business owning any horse let alone a feral herd. SMFH
