The Ant-Man movies are such a breath of fresh air in the MCU. While they still have finagle Scott's storylines a bit here and there to mesh with the MCU's overarching plot, they have their own unique energy that's undoubtedly fun and chaotic, but also really wholesome. Scott is the Everyman hero who lets us know that you don't have to be anything more than a good dad with a kind heart who's just along for the ride and trying to do the right thing in a world full of super-soldiers, demi-gods, trained assassins, and genius billionaire playboy philanthropists.

Usesless comic Info: The Character Bill Foster (played by Laurence Fishburne in the MCU) also known as Giant-man II or Goliath fought alongside Captain America during the super hero civil war vs Ironman and his super human registration act in the comics. He was the first one to die in civil war and kicked the story into overdrive. "Thor" killed him in one of the confrontations. Later it was revealed that it wasn't Thor, Thor wasn't seen on earth for a long time because he died in Ragnarok. Tony cloned him from a strand of hair and used this fake Thor for PR for his registration act. "look, even a god supports my side!". After it got revealed what Tony did (they killed the clone-thor) a lot of heroes started to switch sides and questioned Tonys actions. Even Spider--man who lived with Tony at the time left and Tonys ego couldn't handle it, so he send a group of villains after Peter to kill him. The Civil war comic was soooooo good, these years were some of the best for comic book fans!

In the theater I had a sincere sense of panic thinking about how Scott is gonna get out!

Great reaction to another great (til the credits) Ant-Man movie! When I was a kid, one of my friends and I read the comics his dad and uncle had, which included a few comics with a non-super hero Asian character named Jimmy Woo who was an Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. and then an FBI agent, so it was a super-secret Easter Egg from the 60s to have Jimmy Woo, FBI agent, being Scott's nanny cop. 😀 I really liked Ava/Ghost as a semi-villain in this, though Sonny Burch was the actual villain/comic relief. Learning how Ghost's every cell is torn asunder and then repaired over and over constantly and that this leaves her in constant pain feeds our sympathy for her character, even if we hate how she's going about trying to get better before she dies. Bill Foster was a great gray area character who really wants to do the best for everyone but there's so much conflict that he feels torn over what he should do to help everyone. But he was solid with the plan to try to make sure that everyone got the help they needed. Also a big thing for Ava was that, even though she could have escaped at the end, she said she wanted to stand up and accept the consequences for the awful things she had done and now regretted. And Bill stood by her. There's probably very little happy in that ending, but it is a hero's choice and not a villain's choice. I'm a fan of redemption arcs though. Freely admitted. That first post-credit scene was awful. Such a kick to the guts. 😞 On towards Endgame and the end of the MCU!

How dare a woman be one of the most powerful people in the universe, eh? It's happening again with the sequel, obviously. _Three_ female leads sent KZbinrs into meltdown! @@JLRules Project, much? It didn't help that Brie Larson made so many pronouncements that anyone with a negative take on the movie was misogynist. GIRRRRL POWER!!! It's a perfectly valid criticism to say she's over-powered. She's like Superman. She's so powerful the rest of the Avengers become redundant, which is (thematically speaking) boring. DC writers had to invent Kryptonite just to make the character interesting, otherwise each issue would be Superman steps in, defeats the current villain with one of his super powers, end of story. Again. {yawn} There's no vulnerability. I'm a straight guy, and I grew up reading Poul Anderson, Robert Heinlein, and James H. Schmitz, so don't lecture me about strong women characters, mmmkay? Thematically, Larson seemed to be wooden for most of the film. I wonder if it's because she hadn't gotten a handle on the character, and stayed with a Stoic performance. 8:56-9:00 "If Scott's on house arrest how is he making money?" Makor reason Luis dropped by his place. He's consulting. Remember he's an experienced cat burglar and has a Master's in Electrical Engineering. The plans can be brought to him, he does the planning and design elements, then sends the plans back out the door with Luis. Easy. (Even easier post 2020 when almost _every_ meeting became a conference call or zoom. 24:08-24:12 While time effectively doesn't exist in the quantum realm, in our (well, the MCU) world, things are changing with time, it would be another century from the perspective of Earth before it would be possible again, but then there wouldn't be anyone who knew Janet on Earth left to find and retrieve her. If you assume there's only 1 variable, and it changes every 3650 days (10 years) and goes from 0-9. It needs to be between 1 and 2 that would give a year that it would be in that range, but if they discovered the way to get there and the coordinates when it was at 1.999, there's a very short time before it moves past 2.0 after which it will be about 90-95 years before it comes back around. [this is a simplified explanation, because I don't know what exactly they were going for, nor do I have knowledge of quantum physics/mechanics beyond the scope of "it's very out of my league, and is predominantly not understood well by the greatest scientists of our world] ankle bracelet off and on. Since Hank knows all that anyone could know about the size altering properties of the Pym particle, I would wager it is based on "not changing the bracelet, while changing the size of the wearer." When shrunk, the ankle monitor would be a decent sized room to Scott, likewise the ant would be incredibly tiny to it, so just getting the ant to put a leg before being enlarged. when shrinking the wearer just has to "fall out of contact with it" the tricky part would when growing, getting your leg in the right position that it's not around your thigh (cutting off blood flow and prompting a lot of explanations how it got there) 27:55-27:59 "Can't you just stay tiny?" I'm sure they could, but operating on matchbox car scale, which is 1:64 so for every for every foot of the vehicle in normal size it is only 0.1875 inches, keep in mind this includes the tires, and as you reduce the size of a wheel/tire it has to dramatically increase rotations to cover the same distance. So they would have their existing speed when they shrank, but I would wager they couldn't _maintain_ a speed of more than 5 miles per hour if they stayed that small, and most people can achieve that with a brisk walk. I would presume, on the benign side, those things are coming at the vehicle Hank is in, because it's something new, they want to find out what it is (and on the less benign side possibly determine "can we eat it?"") Question about Ghost/Ava. "can she take other things with her?" Good question, I would say as handled in this movie, no. The suit can move with her because it is designed to work with her cellular/molecular instability. But most things shouldn't be able to make that transition. But her ability to manipulate things in a fully or partially phased state is a thought provoking line of inquiry. 35:07-35:09 It is Infinity War in the MCU. It's one war involving infinite possibilities (Doctor Strange only viewed the possibilities involving them, because they were in the sphere of influence of all the Infinity Stones, if you were questioning why he saw only millions of possibilities) Post credit scene concern... Since the ant playing drums is here, after the snap... What happens when someone forecloses on the house, or the house runs out of food for the ant? Post movie nightmare fuel: What if it wasn't actually Janet that we brought back from the quantum realm, but something from the quantum realm that comprehended enough about Janet from her time there, and in point of fact we have unleashed the next horror from beyond? [Never give a creative mind the opportunity to find a really twisted way to pan out your plot] of course the Thanos snap put that down, by removing the "now Janet"

Ant-Man and the Wasp is a delightful cinematic experience that doesn't get the recognition it deserves. Ant-Man and the Wasp was an excellent film! Since 1987, I've been a huge fan of Dr. Hank Pym, the original Ant-Man, and Janet Van Dyne, the original Wasp. It was in 1993 that I became a fan of Scott Lang, the second Ant-Man. Dr. Henry Jonathan "Hank" Pym is a fictional character that appears in comic books published by Marvel Comics. He was brought to life by the talented team of penciller Jack Kirby, editor-plotter Stan Lee, and writer Larry Lieber. Pym first appeared in Tales to Astonish #27 in January 1962. Janet van Dyne, also known as The Wasp, is a fictional character that can be found in Marvel Comics. She was brought to life by the creative minds of Stan Lee, Ernie Hart, and Jack Kirby. The character debuted in Tales to Astonish #44 in June 1963. Scott Lang, also known as Ant-Man, is a made-up character that can be found in Marvel Comics. He was brought to life by the creative minds of David Michelinie, Bob Layton, and John Byrne. Scott Lang debuted in The Avengers #181 in March 1979 and later appeared in Marvel Premiere #47 in April 1979. He is the second superhero in the Marvel Universe to take on the Ant-Man persona.

@@reactswithjax No, thank you. You frequently catch details I never even noticed, even on a second watch. You analyze more than the average reaction channel, imo, you even try to understand the in-world technical details. Other reaction channels are "this is how I feel, the end". And you seem so sincere... you and PiB are my top two favorites.

8:55 "If Scott's under house arrest, how is he making money?" Maybe the same way that 1.2 million people are making money under prison arrest. Usually, the sentencing of a guilty criminal doesn't include provisions for that criminal's ability to earn an income. Luckily for Scott, there are some ways to make money on the internet. Maybe he does movie reaction videos? :) Or, he could try selling his body on Craigslist - I mean, he was People Magazine's Sexiest Man Alive in 2021 - I bet his "customers" would be willing to drive to his house...

Useless ant trivia of the day; the ants with the wide open mandibles are named trapjaw ants. Their mandibles are like a bear trap; they snap closed so fast that it's quite literally the fastest single motion in the animal kingdom. If they point their mandibles at the ground and close them, they can launch themselves backwards so fast it looks like they're teleporting. You can find clips of it on KZbin!

pretty sure time doesn't exist in the quantum realm, but it does in the regular world. So they had a window at that time for things to align up, which wasn't needed in the quantum realm since that is always ready, but they needed a certain time in the real world. Like saying the earth revolves around the sun and you have to wait until noon. The sun is already ready for that time it just sits there, you have to wait for the earth to move around it until its noon where you are at. The quantum realm is the sun, it's always there and ready.

I really was not feeling up to it today. I was not looking forward to the work project I have to work on, it was cold and I would have to be outside a good portion of the day. It was the pits! Then I remembered it is Friday and that meant Jax is reacting to a Marvel movie and my day got so much better! Wonderful reaction as always Jax! So fun watching movies with you. I know we would be fast friends IRL. And yes, Michelle Pfeiffer is always a win!

I know you've got enough on your plate with the mainline MCU, but you really should do the TV shows also. I'd argue the Netflix shows are skippable, as well as Agents of SHIELD, though you'd probably enjoy AoS. Wandavision, Falcoln and Winter Soldier, and Loki are all relative to your interests, and involve characters you love doing things you will love. Ms. Marvel, the main outlier, is an entirely new character, and has only appeared in one MCU movie to date, but she's a fantastic character and a lot of fun to watch. Likewise with She Hulk, though I could argue She Hulk is more entwined with the MCU movies than Ms. Marvel is. In short, I think you should watch Wandavision, Falcon and Winter soldier, Loki, She Hulk, and Ms. Marvel. Most of these series are only 6 ish episodes long per season, and most are only one season, Loki being the welcome exception. You could easily cover each series in a single longish video if you were up to it.

I will definitely continue my MCU journey into phase 4. Although, I don't know how long it will take to post the shows on YT. Phase 4 should be fun!

Awesome! So you HAVE seen The Matrix! Yes, do long as Ghost was foiled and guarded against harming others, I did feel bad for Ghost! I'm pretty sure all mobile living beings are affected. Ant-Man and the Wasp are the team, yup. Yup. I like that there are villains out there that are there even if there's a big bad villain. Makes it a more realistic, even powered world. Captain Marvel next!
