I love the fact that Strange brought Pepper to the final battle. Because he knew Tony was going to die, so he wanted Tony to be surrounded by his loved ones one last time. There were so many epic moments in this movie that my theatre went wild. (including me) xD.

Pretty sure this all thing with cap is bullshit. Cap, if not immortal, just doesn't age like other humans. So even if he had stayed in the past, he still would have been young in appearance, maybe his early 40s max. They just killed the guy to give the shield to a DEI eligible recipient.

@@reactswithjaxThanks a lot. Yeah, 2nd language barrier and all... makes it sound as if this is still ongoing, I guess. This was actually all around a decade ago. A few years of medication and help from others (therapy and family) helped me get better. And by now I am very good in seeing signs when I am in danger of getting worse again (in my experience with depression it's often kinda like with sober alcoholics, most are never really "cured"). So I am comfortable with that part of my life now. Though it hit during my diploma thesis and even after I was better, in the end I never managed to finish my studies... so I guess it derailed my career a bit 🤔 But I am happy now and got a good (and very well-paid) job regardless. 😊

What I love about the Vormir scene is that Clint and Nat basically go through the same ordeal that Thanos and Gamora did in Infinity War, but we see the difference between genuine love, and the superficial "love" Thanos had for Gamora. Thanos dragged Gamora off that ledge kicking and screaming, while Clint and Nat were both determined to die for the other.

The Avengers seem to represent different stages of grief in this film: Steve is Denial, telling others to move on, but not doing so himself. Clint is Anger, attacking badguys who he thinks unjustly survived. Natasha is Bargaining, still trying to work to atone for her past. Thor is Depression, drinking and isolating himself from others, and ignoring self-care. Tony is Acceptance, moving on and starting a family. (Bruce might fit here too).

This movie had a tremendous amount of callbacks too. Sam saying "On your left" refers back to the beginning of Winter Soldier. The hug from Tony to Peter refers back to Homecoming where Tony said "I'm not hugging you, just getting the door. We're not there yet" and Black Panther calling Hawkeye Clint refers back to Civil War where Hawkeye said "We haven't met, I'm Clint" and Black Panther replied "I don't care." Lastly the reason Cap gave Sam the shield refers back to the first Captain America movie where Steve was chosen because he was a good man, the same thing he tells Sam when giving him the shield.

I dont wanna be "that guy", but Tony proved Steve wrong in basically every movie. When my parents got married in 1945, my mom told me that "It's Been a Long, Long Time" was played at their wedding. 1:10:47 That cheeseburgers line… hit me like a brick wall in the theater. During the funeral and the subsequent scenes before it, I felt as if my heart was being carpet bombed with emotions. “I am Iron Man” “You can rest now” “I love you 3000”. The entire time I can feel that emotion pushing me to the breaking point, but some how I’m still holding it in. And then as the camera zooms out during the funeral I’m thinking about the first Iron Man movie. When we first saw Stark. When he got back home and asked for only two things: a press conference and cheeseburgers. Then Happy asks Morgan if she wants anything. In my head I was thinking: “Don’t you say it…”. When she said: “cheeseburgers”. All those emotion bombs finally hit. It broke me… I’m not ashamed to say I cried.

Except, by going back and living his life with her would’ve created an alternate timeline. So in that timeline he lives his life with her, and then returns back to his home timeline. Hence, why she could’ve still married someone else and had kids with that guy. I think Cap goes back to that other timeline because that’s where he lived an entire life. He had lifelong accomplishments, friends and probably kids and grandkids. I think that’s why they treat the topic like he’s gone/dead, because he technically is gone, just in a different timeline.

The "Hail Hydra" moment was based on an extremely controversial Captain America comic. In the Marvel comics, nothing gets reset, everything that happened since the real world 1940's to now is all in the same canon. So when he said "Hail Hydra" in the comics it meant for almost 80 years of Cap comics, Cap was secretly Hydra. Of course most of us saw that it was going to he reality manipulation and he was going to change back, but it blew up the internet back then. So many lines from the series get recontextualized with Iron Man's death, from Steve's "You're not the guy to lay down on the line and let the other guys crawl over you" to Dr. Yinsen's "Don't waste your life Stark." The directors wanted to have a training montage where Thor gets back into shape but Chris Hemsworth thought it was better for the character if he didn't. He wanted to show that even being out of shape as he was and as thoroughly beaten to his knees by loss and trauma as he is, none of that took away from Thor's worthiness. No hard-knocks or periods of regression can ever take away that anybody is still worthy. At one point Thanos lifts Tony above his head, which is a reference to a famous elseworld comic panel where Thanos rips Tony in half with his bare hands. There's a semi-popular theory that since the X-Men were re-acquired by Marvel when this film came out, the blade Thanos used to break Steve's shield was actually Adamantium, which is what Wolverine's claws and Caps shield in the comics are made of. Adamantium being far stronger than vibranium, and Caps shield being a mix of both but they couldn't say so in the first Cap movie because Fox owned the rights. But of course the _far_ more popular theory is that those were the blades of the Thanoscopter. This movie at one point was the highest grossing film of all time, not counting Gone With The Wind since it was rereleased dozens of times over decades. It currently sits at 2 (with only James Cameron's first Avatar overtaking it again) which puts 4 Marvel movies in the top 10 highest grossing list, one of which you haven't seen yet (and it's gooood). In spite of that though, there was actually one movie in 2019 which beat it with a higher opening weekend: John Wick Chapter 3: Parabellum. Both feature the line "No, I don't think I will" towards the end. From this point on the MCU gets a little messy, with shows being prerequisites to watch some of the movies. Some of it really good and some of it frankly really bad, but imo the highs beat out the lows. Personally, while this tied up the original phases up with a nice bow, and had one of the best happy-sad endings in the MCU, my favorite movie is yet to come, and the ending of that one imo blows my mind more than this.

The metal sound at the end of the post-credits is Tony Stark building his first Iron Man suit in the first Iron Man movie. They made the post-credits sound as kind of a tribute to Tony Stark like a silent salute where someone makes a clanging sound in front of a crowd of soldiers to honor a fallen soldier. That was the idea and it's definitely a beautiful idea to have a silent salute at the end of the credits.

@@BeeWhistler I love that when Thor hits Thanos in the chest in Infinity War he says, "I told you you'd die for that", which is a callback to what Thor tells Thanos when he kills Heimdall at the start of the movie. Not only is it nice that this means Thor has been thinking about avenging Heimdall the entire film, it also means that a part of him, deep inside, doesn't really believe Loki is dead, or it would be a Loki-related taunt Thor is saying here. (No offense to Heimdal, but I think Loki would be a higher priority.) Which makes it doubly sad that not only is Loki in fact very dead (as dead as Heimdall and Gamora and Vision), but that half the universe is gone because Thor took that moment to taunt Thanos. And so even after 5 years of drinking, he makes his penance in this fight. (I'd argue that chopping off Thanos's arm worked just fine at the start of this film, but it wouldn't kill Thanos immediately and Thor doesn't want to risk Thanos having a spare set of stones in his back pocket or whatever.)

The one thing that upset me in this movie is there was a pretty big name drop that unless you had the captions on you would miss it. When Steve is in Peggy's office and she is talking to that shield agent he tells her "Braddock's unit has been stopped". that is a reference to Brian Braddock AKA Captain Britain, the first British superhero in Marvel comics and younger twin brother of Betsy Braddock who later becomes Psylocke. You're literally the only reactor I've ever seen that actually caught the hammering sound at the end of the credits... did someone tip you off on that? lol! That was actually the sound of Tony hammering together his original suit in the cave in Iron Man 1. :D Out of all the things that could've made me emotional, it wasn't Tony dying, or Cap reuniting with Peggy and growing old, or even the "I love you 3000." For me it was when Happy told Morgan "I'll get you all the cheeseburgers you want." @@reactswithjax I really enjoyed this series and watching you experience these movies, mostly, for the first time. Technically you only needed to watch 22 of then to follow the "Infinity Saga" since movies like The Eternals and Shang-Chi aren't directly connected to the rest of the story. 23:40 Thor, for the record, is nothing like Vslkyrie. While he did find himself in a downward spiral, he never abandoned his values, while she abandoned them all together. Vslkyrie comited multiples acts of treason. These include Desertion (after the fight with Hela), assaulting a member of the Asgardian royal family (Thor), selling a fellow Asgardian (Thor again) into forced servitude as a gladiator), and basically became an honourless low life and a drunk . She will develope a history of abandoning her friends, like when Thanos attacked the Refugee Ship at the start of Infinity War, and will literally allow Thor to be abused and humiliated publicly in the 5th Thor movie. I'm surprised she didn't sell out New Asgard to the Grandmaster while Thor was off adventuring with the Guardians of the Galaxy. Topaz was right (not rude) when she called Val trash. 1:14:34 It is possible that this entire time Peggy was married to Steve and that he's been sitting on his hands not wanting to interfier with the natural order of things. I'm sure it's painful knowing Natasha and Tony were going to die, but what else could he do... 1 in 14 million was the odds they were facing.

The clinking metal is the sound of Tony making his first suit in the cave, the scene we see as RDJ's credit shows, the last image of the story. From Tony in the cave to Tony in the grave, a hero's journey. (Tony isn't a hero until Yinsen helps make him one, of course.) ************** While I love the film, there are few scenes that don't add up. I always hate the "She's not alone" ALL of the women shot, because it's ridiculous that they suddenly ALL showed up. (Natasha rescuing Wanda in Infinity War was great, because Nat had been mentoring Wanda personally and because Nat also *really* disliked Proxima Midnight, who was threatening Wanda at the time.) And the scene on Vormir rather tests the logic skills… CLINT: What, we're supposed to believe him [about one of us needing to die], just because he knew your father's name? NATASHA: I didn't. ME: Then how do you know he isn't bluffing? Maybe your dad's name is Bob. Or Louie. Darth Vader?

Like banner said “you can’t change the past” so when Peggy was talking about her husband she was actually talking about Steve. When he went back he probably told her the whole story and “future” Steve just assumed another identity more than likely and just lived a normal life as a nobody. Also I’d like to think he took her name, so the kids are probably carters not Rogers to help stay hidden.

It was an awesome experience watching it in theaters. Listening to your reviews. There was a part that I felt you were mistaken. Steve didn't rewrite his relationship with Peggy. When Steve was carrying Peggy's casket, at her funeral. There was an old man on the other side of the casket, ya only saw the back of his head. But that was old man Steve Rogers. When Steve went back to Peggy, he changed his name to Roger Stevens. And lived a full life with her. When Captain America Civil War first came out, that was the big theory on who the old man was.

Yep time travel has been a pretty big aspect of the comics but unlike the MCU the comics kind of used all time travel theorises. basically differant forms of time travel could work differently. For the MCU they use the quantum mechanics interpretation where the universe is always splitting into parallel universes. So when the Avengers go back in time they enter a new reality that branches off from the Earth-616 MCU timeline, everything up until the timeline branches in the same as the MCU. This means that any changes done in the past will have zero effect on Earth-616 as the Avengers aren't in there original timeline. They cannot stop the Snap from happening but they can go back and gather the stones from other timelines, these being what we see in Endgame. We also see the Avengers having pretty big effects on these other timelines from Loki getting away with the tesseract, this never happened at the end of Avengers (2012) and a universe where 2014 Thanos travelled to the present day of the mainline MCU and got snapped along with his army, 2014 Nebula died, and Gamora became good. This leaves a universe without a Thanos and possibly without a Guardians of the Galaxy as Peter was knocked out by War Machine among other things. The MCU could have other forms of time travel as well where they travel to the past of there own universe, but my guess is that Earth-616 is a fixed timeline so any past actions made have already happened as in that the person going back in time was always meant to travel back in time so nothing breaks or changes. If only we had an organization that maintained these other timelines..... 🤔

Okay, so to tie it in a bow, I at first thought that would be the case, in a fantasy setting, say if Dark World Thor was without his hammer, BUT Steve did go to those exact points in space AND time to return those items. Plus they had a rousing discussion about fictional time travel paradoxes that just couldn't be in their quantum physics based universe.

This movie does use the classic time travel as well, Steve didn't come back from the gate he entered but still showed up in the "main" at an old age, that rewrites a lot of things with the shield and Peggy and implies you can go to the past of your own universe and not actually branch off

In the opening scene onboard the Benatar, Nebula’s behavior is a result of her trauma. She spent years withstanding punishment from Thanos for losing. Now that she finally won something, a sign of congratulation feels very foreign to her. Something worth noting is that certain characters like Doctor Strange had a bigger role in Avengers: Infinity War whereas Nebula had a smaller role by comparison. This time, it’s the other way around. Tony saying he had no trust for Steve means that he’s clearly still mad about what happened in Civil War. Half of the population vanished in 2018. Now we’re in 2023. Welcome to the future. Fans have been calling him Bruce’s new incarnation Professor Hulk. That’s actually a thing in the comics. However, the Russo Brothers and the movie’s embedded subtitles confirm that he’s actually Smart Hulk. We didn’t see Korg, Miek, and Valkyrie in Avengers: Infinity War, but it was for good reason. They evacuated as many as they could from the Statesman while Thor, Loki, Heimdall, Hulk, and anyone else who could fight stayed behind to hold off Thanos and his crew. You can tell Rocket didn’t wanna draw the beer card on Thor. The Russo Brothers wanted the concept of time travel in this movie to be as unique as possible. They even brought in Dr. Clifford V. Johnson and Professor Sean Michael Carroll as consultants on theoretical physics. The way it works in this movie is a close interpretation as to how it would work in real life if it existed. Cap could’ve fought the STRIKE team in the elevator again if he wanted. However, the idea is to not draw attention. The only major flaw in the Avengers’ plan was where to get the Tesseract. I would’ve gotten it from Odin’s vault in Asgard 2013, but at least you now saw what kickstarts Loki’s series. More on that later. This film was Stan Lee’s final cameo, but he went out like a boss. He’s basically telling us the audience that he would be gone soon and he’s entrusting us with our planet and its’ future. None of this would be possible without you, Stan the Man. Thank you for everything. Unlike Mjolnir, Stormbreaker doesn’t have Odin’s enchanting. As for Cap’s shield, Vibranium might be considered the strongest metal on Earth but that doesn’t mean it’s the strongest in the universe. The first time I saw this movie in theaters, I felt the same sense of relief and hope that Cap felt when T'Challa emerged out of a portal. The music playing in the background elevated that emotion. This scene hits differently now that Chadwick Boseman is gone, but he left a positive mark on the world. Pepper in her own suit is known as Rescue. Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige confirmed that Wanda is powerful enough to kill Thanos one on one. We’re missing Nat, Sif, and Ava Starr/Ghost, but the girl power scene got the audience super hyped. One of the mourners standing by Secretary Ross at Tony’s funeral is Harley Keener from Iron Man 3 now a teenager. And finally, in the Latin Spanish dub, 3,000 was changed to 3 million.
