#Correction - Both insects and spiders are arthopods. And spider belongs to the class Arachnida which have eight legs while insects have six. So when we say that "spiders are arthopods having eights legs" in the video we mean "spiders are Arachnids having eight legs".

If you think about it, the spider probably doesn't even know it's mimicing the ant it sees, since it was made that way by genetics and instinct, there might actually be a chance it's the spider mistaking the ant for another spider, since spiders often use eyesight (they actually see somewhat similarly to humans), while ants use pheromones

wait, really?

@@Sengwon4 Yep. Jumping spiders have very well developed eyes, while ants generally have rather poor eyesight, so it's not their primary sense. Because of this, ant mimicry in Jumping Spiders is exclusively defensive, as more predators tend to avoid ants than spiders, making it effective against them. For the ants themselves, however, unless a creature uses chemical trickery (which the jumping spiders do not), they can easily tell not only if another insect/arthropod is from the same species, but also if it's an ant from their exact colony

Great video, thanks for sharing it. I saw a spider mimicking an ant few months back ( I didn’t know it was a spider back then) and made a video of it cause it seemed strange. Now I can confirm it was a spider because of this video.
