the frozen lake at the end is called Quake Lake. it is located in southwest Montana close to the Idaho border. it was formed in 1959 when a 7.5 earthquake hit the area and part of a mountain broke free and slid into and across the river valley. there are 28 people buried here in the rubble. the trees are what is left of the forest that was flooded causing the trees to die. this lake is slowly going away due to the erosion of the earth/debris dam and will someday go back to just being a part of the river again.

It’s infrared. Certain plastics (usually dark plastics) allow infrared light to pass through so the camera picks up that light coming back out. With the old MW2 NVGs you could look through the shell of a black Wii.

Nearly all digital cameras can see infrared, so if you brought an infrared light source into an otherwise dark room, then looked into the room exclusively through say your cell phone, many appliances look a lot different. Some things that are normally dark appear white, vice versa, opaque objects become transparent, and sometimes transparent objects become opaque. It's a fun little experiment to try. What's interesting is that I have one of those robot vacuums with LIDAR, and the laser is not only invisible to the naked eye, but digital cameras too. And yet, it shows up when using the passthrough camera on my Rift S VR headset. So that kind of thing makes me wonder, if I could figure out what wavelength of light that is and illuminate my place entirely with that light, what would the place look like on camera? This is starting to sound like the start of a Ghostbusters spinoff lol

0:40 - That camera does not have the IR filter in the lens, probably a security camera with night vision. That "black" plastic is not really black, it is "infrared color", it looks black because we cant see infrared, but the camera can, so it looks transparent to camera. Not all remotes are made this way, but, almost all infrared remotes have a window in the front made of a similar material.

Our company embeds transparent TVs into our dimmable glass. We have a huge outside wall of glass with TVs. We've sold a few of them, including a company that bought an entire outdoor overhead tunnel of TVs that can be turned off for sunlight, or dimmed dark and TVs displaying incredible graphics. It's like a smaller version of the the overhead TVs on Fremont Ave in Vegas, but high resolution and indoors. In our lunchroom, we also have a little sample of the TV as a proof of concept and we can play Nintendo on it.

The camera can see in the near infrared (many many digital cameras can, unless they have filters to prevent it). The remote is made of plastic that is transparent to infrared light so that the IR signal it emits can be seen by the TV or whatever it goes to. There is an IR LED in the remote that blinks a sort of Morse code type signal and the device interprets it as Volume Up or whatnot.
