So a small mouse actually got into that coil! Wow, so glad you were able to fix that Don. Yea I saw the transformer next to it, maybe that's when the owner in 1937 turned on the main power and maybe kinda removed his interest in 115Volts or who knows, maybe a lightning bolt decided to edge his interests as well, when he was tasting cardboard....haha!

+saturn5tony Good one! I was prepared to install a generic antenna coil to hear this one sing again. It's a very simple radio, but the cabinet really makes it special. I gave this one to my Dad and he has it on display in his office. Best, Don

Hi Don. Awesome save on the coil. It sounds great. I Rechecked my Philco has it was very late at night when I checked it the first time. I had left the rectifier in the set It tested shorted,So I ran checks on the caps resistors,Did the dim bulb test again No shorts. yipeee :) I am waiting on the 84 tube to get here. I just finished recapping it this evening. Has always I am looking forward to more from you. All the best. Bobby

+Bobby Tectalabyss Thanks Bobby, working on the antenna coil was like completing a thorough eye exam. LOL Glad the "PT" was good and hope your progress after receiving the 84 tube goes well. Best, Don

Sounds and looks great so far! I would imagine rewinding the antenna coil would be time consuming!

Jack, it would be a pain for sure. I was getting ready to order a generic replacement, but was fortunate enough to make a repair. Thanks for checking this out. Best, Don

Nice save on that antenna coil! I have to take a look at the one on my philco 89. I had the oscillator coil rewound but haven't checked the others yet. the radio does work but it likes to motorboat.

Phenolic cased carbon comp resistors often develop cracks which is why they go so far high.

Ron, try to match the number of turns and the design of the broken ferrite is what I would do. Good luck. Best, Don
