Wonderful. You have clearly explained and demonstrated the construction of this dress and how the pattern can be altered for larger bust sizes. I love the tip about using a running stitch to ensure a crisp finish to the skirt edge. I do have one small criticism. While it is aesthetically pleasing using the same white fabric for garment and lining, a contrasting lining would have been helpful for demonstration purposes. I hope you don’t find this nitpicking but as I said it is a very tiny criticism of an overall excellent tutorial. Thank you.

For everyone planning on doing a FBA: I ended up doing something completely different to make it work FOR ME. here's what I ended up doing: I lowered B, made the hole for the A panel in C larger, lengthened the upper part of C of about as much more coverage I wanted, and added some height to A. Hope this helps! Fyi, you might need to shorten the strap afterwards

what a terrific video. Your explanations are so clear. Good button hole trick! Thanks so much for the bust adjustment! For a D cup, I'm thinking I may need to add some length ("height?) as well as width. Often with larger bust the seam that should be under the bust ends up on the bust. A toile is reqiured of course. Will give this a try later.

I just made this without realizing it was for a b cup 😓 It seems like it’s got enough ease in the larger size (I cut out a 14 but sewed a larger seam allowance) I also wish I had seen this first (not for lack of looking it up but this appeared on my fyp the day after I finished sewing most of the bodice)

I love the Anthea Milkmaid dress pattern. 😂 this is the first dress I ever sewed as a (which technically I still am.) Wish this video was available when I sewed it last year, I would have finished it a lot sooner. I will definitely sew this dress again with a different fabric. 😊.🎉🎉. Great tutorial

Great job on explaining. I want this pattern. Not having the front skirt seam lining up with the bodice seam will bug me. So i guess i will have to watch out for that if i make the dress. I never can work with long fingernails, let alone super long ones like yours. Pretty, yes, but i just can't grab thread and pins.

I believe you'll have to lengthen it in both directions, not only horizontally as she does here. I would make a mock-up of only that part before attaching it to the rest of the dress, to make sure it covers all you want covered. Do the slashing as she does horizontally but do that vertically too, making sure to redo the curves so that they meet in the center in the same way. Then you can cut some scrap fabric, fold it over and gather and pin it to your dress, just to check that it's the right fit, before you commit to cutting your actual fabric. Good luck!

Hi, I hope you are saying that after seeing this video, you realize that this dress can, and will work for most people despite age. In this caset least if you're over the age of... shall we say 6. I'm pretty certain that you can make most things work for most people, though you might shuffle some pattern pieces around. You might want to add a jacket or shawl for more formal situations or a light sweater or cardigan if you happen to live in a hot part of the US. For us that don't, the air-conditioning indoors when it's warm or hot is usually turned down extremely (for us in northern Europe at least) low. Also, I'm a woman of a certain age too, but I refuse to dress like an old woman. I'll still wear my jeans at the age of 90. (I have a doctor that, in jest, told me that I could expect to live at least to that age. He wanted to motivate me to be medecine compliant, because it would be good for me when I get to that age, and grow up. I'm trying to comply, if nothing else to get him off my back about it.) Wear the clothes that you want, but make them your touch, and I think you'd look amazing, even if I don't know who you are. Yours, Ann

How do you calculate the bust adjustment? How many inches need to be added per cup size? TIA 🙂
@Mood_Fabrics10 ай бұрын
Fantastic question! When creating your new slashed and spread pattern check the chart measurements for bust, versus your cup measurements. Add half the difference to your bust panel to adjust it to your size.
@RT-vh7lo10 ай бұрын
When making a bust adjustment that is more than 1 cup size larger, how do you accommodate “top to bottom” fullness? Larger cups are bigger in all dimensions but I’m not clear on whether/how to adjust the depth of where the gathered bust area goes into the bodice. Do you have any examples where the cup adjustment would be bigger than a D?
@littlelila73969 ай бұрын
@@RT-vh7lo can confirm, i'm just a c cup and had to completely modify the bust pattern by widening the cut out part of the bodice and lengthening the height of the gathered piece. I suggest taking the pattern piece size according to the bust circumference and measurring yourself for the height and just adding that when cutting

I think you could do the reverse of cutting and spreading the pattern. Just overlap the pieces by the same amount to total one inch. I'm a AA myself, so I have to do a SBA (small bust adjustment) or wear a padded bra (such as one from Pepper).
