Server capicity limit for days and server meltdowns 2.The worst audio engineering for a game's main hub 3.A joke of a story forcing you to choose dialogue choices to talk to one and done characters 4. @@raygengamer8440 You are right that it isn't BioWare, that studio doesn't exist anymore. Any studio that EA gets its claws into ceases to be what they were and starts becoming EA instead. They may keep the fascade of what they once were, they may be the same people with the same skills and ideas, but the leadership and direction is EA and so that's what you'll get from them. I feel incredibly sorry for all the actually passionate game developers in these studios, they have to watch as their bosses not only tell them to make shit, but in the off chance that they actually make something good the same bosses will proceed to shit all over it to make sure it's still shit. The job market in that industry being what it is they can't just up an leave either but they have to continue just working on this shit in order to be able to make a living.

Prediction: Dragon Age 4 is going to be a shit show launch and here's why. 1. It has a very long Pre-production phase (3 or 4 years now, similar to ME:A, Destiny, Anthem, etc...) 2. Dev teams have abandoned a different game (Anthem) to crunch out the new title (Dragon Age 4). 3. DA4 will be found that it only actually had 14-18 months to actually make the core game and release it in a broken state. We've heard and seen this too many times before and the formula is still being followed just by observing the behaviors of the development stages.

@ Yes, as sad as it is.. If Bioware had a new management, and another pulisher to go through, things could have been vastly different. Activision-Blizzard is a no-go. They are just as bad as EA, if not worse. Ubisoft is not as bad as EA, and are more suited for role playing games. But they too are a bit too big for their own best. Valve could potentially breathe life into Bioware, as their practices are much more relaxed than the aforementioned publishers. Though, if a company like CDPR could buy out Bioware and merge with them. That would be a dream for many RPG fans.

That is Anthem's biggest problem, which is alleviated somewhat with Cataclysm. However, pickup radius being able to roll in major slots is still a MAJOR FUCKING PROBLEM. Blizzard has had the problem solved since at least 2012. It's like Bioware made Anthem in an isolation room, with nothing and no one to look to for guidance. I am having fun with Cataclysm, but they need to realize that some little changes can go a long way. Secondary rolls, DO IT!

Hey Yong, I'm sure you're already very busy with planned content. Do you think you could check out the recent changes to the Apex Iron Crown event? The devs are pushing a "fix" where you can buy skins you want for 20 dollars, but it will only include half of the event's items (meaning you'll have to gamble loot boxes for the rest) and the axe is still behind a 170 dollar paywall. Additionally if you go to the apex subreddit where the devs made a thread addressing this backtracking move, you can see devs regularly accusing players of being "asshats," throwing "temper tantrums," calling people who don't spend money on the game "freeloaders," refusing to apologize for the predatory pricing and mechanics and instead only focusing on their failure to "communicate" how the event would be, and a bunch of other just really scummy crap. They even acknowledge Iron Crown was a success and that the model they used was "right" for profit purposes. This has my (and many other people's) blood boiling that the EA diehards are praising this half-baked attempt, along with the disrespectful commentary towards the community, as acceptable in any way. We're tired of companies disrespecting the majority of people who actually consume their media. We're tired of them doing shitty things to exploit us and then moving the goalpost and then calling US the assholes for actually calling them out. Please cover this if you can.

That sounds like time well spent on developing a lot of really good titles-- oh wait... 2011 Mass Effect 2 - according to LinkedIn, Mister Irving didn't take part in the development of this title. SWTOR - Not Mister Irving's fault, that game had major issues at the very core of the development process. SWTOR wasn't a bad game, it tried to do some neat things. Sadly, the "on the rail" progression and HeroEngine put a lot of people off. The game went F2P in six months-or-so. Development of new content was pushed back, to prepare the game for F2P mode. Which meant content drought, which meant even more people left. My guild stuck to the game until Hutt Cartel and Dread Masters raid. After clearing it, we collectively dumped our subscriptions and went to greener pastures. Later expansions managed to keep the game afloat but that's about it. The game never gave us the freedom Star Wars Galaxies had -- and the cross-section of Star Wars/MMO fans pretty much wanted just that. Mister Irving was strongly involved in the development of SWTOR's expansions and updates. In many ways those newer additions completely gave up on the sense of MMO freedom, replacing it with an episodic storyline which worked for some but it turned off a lot of more classical MMO fans. Marrying a strong storyline with brain dead daily grind was one of the most painful experiences in my gaming career. 2012 Mass Effect 3 - After fantastic ME2, the final chapter of the trilogy seemed.. underwhelming. It did. It masterfully pulled on your heart's strings, but mechanically? The game was simplified. Add to that growing DLC culture and absolutely pointless online mode. Oh.. and that ending. If Mass Effect 3 wasn't carried by the storyline momentum of the two previous games, it would be forgotten in an instant. 2014 DA: Inquisition - hey. Remember that Baldur's Gate feeling that made you want to work at Bioware? Yeah, f- people who loved the classic cRPG experience. Let's make the final chapter of this trilogy an action RPG. Because of reasons! No, I'll tell you why this game played as it was developed for a console with a PC port. It's because console users are statistically more likely to buy stupid online store shit. You know I'm right. I wish I could tell you something more about the plot and the story.. but.. the game I bought in Origin Store was delivered to me in Polish/Russian. Yeah, I do live in Poland. But I can't play games in Polish! Even with "theatrical mode" UI was still in Polish. It was some acid-induced idea to prevent keys bought legally in Poland/Russia to be sold to the rest of the world... I presume? 2017 Andromeda Do I really need to say anything at all? The game was released months before it was ready - copying the same mistakes done with Dragon Age 2. Dead on Arrival. Carry on. 2019 Anthem ... uh... where do I begin? Enough said that Mass Effect Andromeda was f-ed in the development cycle by this game. And it ended up being pretty much just as f-ed. Legacy of Mister Irving is one of fighting an uphill battle to keep a F2P MMO alive. I'm sure he did what he could but I can't imagine trying to keep a poorly designed ship from sinking a truly enjoyable experience. I would quit if I was pushed to lead another flop-of-a-game like Anthem. I wish him all the best in his future endeavours and I thank him for the work he did... but for us, regular gamers, those last 8 years was a story of continuous disappointment. Still, I'm far from putting blame on Mister Irving. There were trends and forces way beyond his control - obviously! But this corporate talk in his goodbye tweet was just... too much.

They destroyed themselves. Sure, EA asked them to make a game that was outside of their comfort zone but the leaks reported by Jason Schreier and others show that Bioware was on a bad course for years. They managed to save a catastrophic situation with Dragon Age : Inquisition but didn't learn from their mistakes. Anthem is the result of bad management by the Bioware staff and EA only made the situation worse.
