The goal of the game is to get loot. If your drop rates too high people will get loot too fast and stop playing. If players dont get enough loot then they'll stop playing because they feel their time isn't valued. It's a thin line to walk so yes it's not an easy thing to balance. I'm not defending the fact that this game launched with no issues. Far from that but to say that there is an easy fix is not possible.

People love brands because they expect the same quality each iteration. The problem is that developers/publishers have abused brand loyalty/desire so much that you cant trust that any game will be good, even if it is the second or third in a series. Hell, Fallout 76 is basically a cash grab based purely on the Fallout name. Same with Metal Gear Survive. It almost feels like if a game is a sequel or follow-up to a successful game, it is going to be terrible (I know the latest God of War didn't fall into that). Not that many names left that haven't been dragged through the mud. Rare (Sea of Thieves), Bungie (Destiny), Bioware (Anthem), Bethesda (Fallout 76), Blizzard (Diablo Immortal), Gearbox (Every non Borderlands game) I really enjoyed the mass effect games, the second most of all, but never picked up Andromeda because mass effect 3 felt so lackluster. At this point, after being burned a few times by sequels to games I loved, I never pick up any game preorder/day one these days. There are a few series that I would look forward to a new release, but still wont buy them day one.

Interesting, I heard people really didn't like original Division all that much. I remember laughing at Division 2 announcement, "They're making a sequel to a game that didn't go well the first time!? HAHAHA" but considering the dumpster fire that is the current game industry, I'm happy people haven't wasted their money on something. @@ExireHG Div 1 at launch was a horrible, horrible mess. No major real bugs, but just poorly designed and an overall bad experience at endgame (though I loved the dark zone). Fast-forward 12 months and they fixed all of that and made the game incredible. Div 2 surprisingly builds on where Div 1 was. I still can't get over how much content is there at endgame. It's insane.

I gotta say, I LOVE patch 1.0.4! Not only did they make it a larger number than 1.0.3, they even managed to hide even MORE notes this time! I’m really looking forward to 1.0.5, where they replace everything with stick figure and every time a Masterwork would drop, we instead get an explosion of confetti and the sound of children cheering! What a time to be alive!
