WOW!!! We all think of Luke, Leia and Han Solo but C-3PO (Anthony Daniels) has actually made i big role in every one of the nine parts of the saga (unless I am really off my charts now), while none of the other has. I liked 3PO from the start. And in this clip Anthony Daniels is so honest about playing him. The hurdles but also the benefits. However, he says one thing that is so true for science fiction in general, the author can bring up *_ANY_* subject without having the audience (readers) going nuts about it (unless the author is a moron of course). Because you are allowed to create a narrative that allows for almost whatever the subject. We could read about pollution and energy problems decades ago. And nuts wielding world powers in spite of "decent regulations that would prohibit such anomalies", etc. Mainly SF as literature (except the kiosk shit) has proved to be a very good "food for thought" in many decades but so many "educated" readers have ignored the power it can wield without feeling obnoxious.

What a lovely man. Most actors would be annoyed about being typecast and only being given the opportunity to be one character. Anthony Daniels clearly demonstrates that he has mastered that role and made the most out of it. Inspiring fellow and I hope to see more of him in the future.

C-3P0 and R2 are icons that will always live in our hearts and minds. They are the"Odd Couple" of our 70's, 80's, 90's, 00's, and so on for many generations of Star Wars fans.

I didn't think I would choke up when 3PO was kind wiped, but I did. It definitely got me when Chewie learned of Leia. Thank you for 3PO Mr. Daniels. George may have created him, but you gave him life.

Oh yeah, Chewies reaction to Leias passing got me right in feels! Because they have both been there from the beginning. They have history together, and you just know that this hurts him. That moment had me crying, both times I saw the movie.

I met him briefly in London when he was doing a signing at Forbidden Planet, when it was in Denmark Street. The Return of the Jedi had just come out. I now have a signed photograph that says “to David with force” written in gold pen. What a lovely chap. And having just read his book I wonder if he wishes he could go into the first day’s shooting of A New Hope, knowing what he knows now. Thank YOU for MY childhood too.

@John Sabp it did some right and did some wrong, i grew up watching the prequels and the original trilogy, ive read dozens of the comics and novels, played all the games, spent hundreds and hundreds of hours soaked in all forms of star wars and while it wasnt the best it was at least good, especially with the tight spot Rian Johnson put JJ in, he killed and ruined lukes character, made fin a joke, added the rose and fin story for no reason, killed the resistance, and snoke, and phasma, and put them in an unwinnable situation and while jj had to cram a lot into two hours he did it so everyone could ignore most of rhe last jedi and he saved fin, added a lot to poe, finished leia in a good way, and made 3p0 a valuable and funny character which was lacking in the sequels, and there were a good number of misshaps i think he should at least get credit for what he did right

Indeed, thank you for my childhood (my favorite character of SW) and for this brilliant and moving analysis on your character. I'm not crying either.
