Ah, how I've missed this classic album. I had many Gramavision albums back in the day, but never came across it. Haven't been able to find it streaming either. Thanks...classic!

You're welcome. I missed it as well. Although i've had the vinyl since it was new, my turntable is defective and I went in search of a CD so I could play it again, in better quality sound without the clicks and pops. Matter of fact as soon as I did find a CD version I also posted it up here for folks like me who loved the Grammavision label back in the day. Such a shame that the label was so short lived as there was quite a lot of albums on there I loved and would love to have on CD now as well...

@@cosmicpickle6562 I actually heard it on the radio when it first came out...which is kind of a funny story that I'll pass on tomorrow...

@@revinsound In my area it may have also got some airplay, but just on the college and university radio stations that I listened to back in the late 70's to early 1980's. Although these stations hit the Northern New Jersey and into the New York City area, the range wasn't all that far unfortunately as the signals were not all that powerful.

I bought this on vinyl back in the early 80's. Went to my father's house. He bought it, too. I miss Davis's small ensemble work, but glad others out there appreciate it.

I too was disappointed that this label died out very quickly as i'm sure there would have been much more Davis music in a small-group or solo mode.

Wow this is a treasure! I love how indeterminate is seemingly the name of the game and then the tune is there you can barely grasp it and it's gone. I miss hearing a lot of from this label. Seems like all these guys kind of get passed over in terms of less challenging newer talent. Thanks for posting this.

Yes I miss the label as well-it certainly didn't last very long at all. Plus there isn't too much of this type of music being made much currently...

Another interesting album Gary. I quite don't know what to make of it though. It almost sounds Hitchcock-ee in some parts. I can picture Cary Grant jumping on roofs in character as the cat burglar John Robie. One of my favorite Hitchcock films. Very nice. Thanks for posting it~ Rob/Boston

Hello buddy! Well, I don't recall what my initial reaction was to this album, because I got my vinyl of it in 1982 and I played it a ton for months. It's much closer to what would be considered 'modern classical' music than jazz certainly. It's not really music that is initially appreciated I think because of the advanced harmonies, etc of the music. I can easily see it not being something that goes down easy on the first listen as it's not meant to just be pretty stuff. Me, I like a lot of modern classical music but even though i've been listening to that format for years I still often don't appreciate a new recording the first couple of times I listen. Yeah some of this is abstract and could certainly accompany movie scenes no doubt. Anyway, thanks again for stopping by buddy-I hope your week has started out great for you- -Gary

I listened to that John Surman this morning and it was a great one to wake up too. It changes about the 30 minute mark and then gets quite progressive, then goes back more to free jazz towards the end. This looks like a good one too. Lately you been putting up some excellent stuff Gary. Thanks for the listen.

Hey William! Yeah, that Surman will certainly get one "up" for sure! This one is more of a late-night modern classical kind of thing. I bought the vinyl back when it was released around 1982 and loved it, playing it many times. Then, although I still have the vinyl CDs came around and most of my vinyl didn't get played much. This one, as much as I loved it, didn't get played for maybe 30 years and i've been looking for a CD version of it for years (seems it came out on CD later but went out of print very quickly). Now that I finally got my CD version of this, it's great to hear it again, and very well suited to the CD medium since it's kind of quiet with no drums or percussion. It may not be immediately accessible but I love this album. It's my pleasure to share it with you buddy, hope you like it-enjoy!

Heya G, Got a little time in between shifts, so listening in a bit here. I like it already. Think I remember seeing this out and about years ago, though didn't pick up on it. Very cool. Catch up further soon. -Carm

Hey hey buddy! I was thinking that this is great late-night music and if there was any way to hear this while driving home that would be great (except for maybe the short first track which is more up-tempo and jazzy).. Again, this is one where I have my original vinyl sitting here but haven't played it for close to 30 years, and today I just got a long searched for copy on CD. Yeah I think you'll like this one buddy. Hope the job is going well and you'll be finished with work soon! Talk to you later....
