Casso died from COVID at age 78 on December 15, 2020. He never came out of prison. This interview was from 1998. So, in addition to the years he had already served in prison, he remained in prison another 22 years after this interview.

SOB deserved a more severe punishment than that. He is one of the most sadistic gangsters and thinks it's OK because others did it too. Even ratting out the ones he promised his life he wouldn't and broke an oath to save himself and died the same way only not as violent as he did to others.

When i was incarcerated, i was around men who were charged with murder all around me. Some were soft and some were cutthroat , and what that taught me is the principle of never underestimate anybody. The guy who's soft , or the gangster that lives by the code all are capable of anything , and either one can switch up at anytime , so with both you have to expect the unexpected which leaves no room for the element of surprise. For that reason alone keeping your guard up , anytime, anywhere is a must. We live in a fallen world. Fear none , but God , Trust a few

@@Breezeyogi to be fair and to stay in context with the video , this is life when your doing time. However , certain life situations are not bound outside the confinement of being imprisoned , and allow for these strategies to apply. If you keep yourself busy and do things to better yourself like working out , reading books , praying and meditate , you won't be paranoid , you are still a soldier and a soldier is ready to give it his all that's why a soldier trains. People doing time train for a different battle , but a man , is man at the end of the day anywhere he stands.

If he were a true sociopath he wouldn’t be crying about his family. Sociopaths don’t feel such emotions. He basically stated he doesn’t want people to have sympathy for him, the same way he doesn’t have sympathy for those he “doesn’t know.” He doesn’t want remorse and knows he doesn’t deserve it.

I can't believe there was even a cooperation agreement in place that would've allowed him to walk out of prison one day in the first place. 36 murders. That's insane, he was on his way to filling up a graveyard. Guys like him should've never been boss (Yeah I know he was Underboss but he was running things more so than Amuso). The old timers were the real deal and they'd kill you if you got out of line but guys like Casso, Amuso, Sammy the Bull, Gotti, Nicky Scarfo, they were the worst thing that could've happened to their respective families. The predecessors to them like Castellano, Tony Ducks and Angelo Bruno were old school and they had things run smoothly for decades meanwhile 5-6 years of the successors running things and the families were ruined and the Underbosses of all 3 of the families I mentioned turned rat.

You can’t just sit back and let one little thing like this discourage you from obtaining the besta foods and besta wines, and quite frankly, I’m highly disappointed to see such a statement condoning such negativity. My suggestion would be to look within yourself and try finding out why a positive outlook is not within your means, and go from there, before we rub that mentality off on someone the wrong way. That’s not something you want to be a part of believe me!

The thing we hear most about when describing Casso's ruthlessness is the incident with Jimmy Hydell. How he tortured him over a period of time by shooting him multiple times in the arms and legs. What we don't hear so much about, although it is clearly mentioned in this documentary, is that Jimmy Hydell was part of a team who shot up Casso while he was sitting in his car. Casso was trying to get him to tell him who was behind the attempted murder. The hit was to be payback for Casso's role in the assassination of those responsible for the unsanctioned hit on Gambino boss Paul Castellano. Although Casso was part of the Lucchese Family it was then Genovese boss Vinny "The Chin" Gigante who had ordered it.

I feel like people don’t understand how much of a powerhouse Casso was in his prime Gas was a stone cold killer. He had to stop himself from laughing remembering how he tortured and killed Hydel when asked how many times he shot him. He looked at the ground when he said he didn’t torture him cos he was lying reliving it and then nearly bursting out laughing. Gas Pipe was one of the most feared gangsters that walked the streets of NYC. Earned millions and had two NYC task force officers on his payroll hunting down and killing his enemies for him. Took out 35 people including Roy Demeo who people say was one of the most dangerous guys of that time but he was nothing to Gas. Gas killed him then took the Gemini twins under his belt and had them commit murders for him also. Casso was a beast.

In the 5 families it was said as you rightly said the Feds hated Casso and knew he didn’t deserve freedom. The story is he told the story of how he and another guy killed a guys son whose father had been a part of Casso’s drug business that got raided so Casso cleaned house including a 15 year old boy who they lured to a pre dug grave and then he and another guy joked about who was gonna shoot him till Gas shot him till he fell in the grave and still alive and Casso buried him alive. Casso was a stone cold killer on a whole other level. He took out Demeo and made him look like a school boy compared to him.

@fransesco9703 no he would have cared, he wasn't against making money sure, but when it comes to breaking the rules of Cosa Nostra he wouldn't have allowed Vic&Gas to do what they did. They would have killed and their bodies disappeared. Nobody welched on Tommy Lucchese If you were becoming a problem or breaking mafia rules, Tommy Lucchese did not tolerate it and would punish you for it if he thought you were going to continue being a problem.

@ronodell2935, you mean like intentionally going to a place called "the death zone" (ie mountaineering)? Everything has risks. Bad crap can come any which way from anywhere. Getting into a car is pretty dangerous. Bad ppl drink milk. Is milk therefore bad? Some would argue a life as a slave is unbearable, & you're delusional if you think the vast majority of us arent just that. So what, you have the "freedom" to be a sex freak & eat & slurp down so much sssssoy! you dont have any testosterone left by age 23. A little veneer of freedom of movement. Tracked. Eavesdropped. Its even illegal to be homeless in many places here if you're unfortunate enough to get screwed by goldman sachs type gangsters who famously crash the economy then get rewarded with your extorted protection racket money - i mean - tax dollars. Btw, the true top organized crime lords (ie Rothschilds & co.) stay in the shadows & simply arent subjected to any sort of anything. "He who has the gold makes the rules," huh? The sad truth is cosa nostra were always at best sort of lackeys to far more cunning & formidable forms of organized crime. They were kind of like low class of the middle to higher levels of organized crime. The real fat cats stay in the shadows & are often worshipped by regular ppl as "philanthropists" The CIA has been caught red handed "dealing" drugs other than the poison drug alcohol at least once. What if drugs were made "illegal" partly so as to jack up the profits Take Heroin. Dirt cheap to make. Dirt cheap when legal. But, b/c its illegal, its worth more than gold by weight. And you think that its an accident when its been going on for well over a century now despite zero visible benefits? Same thing happened with alcohol during its prohibition. A lot of users began stealing & shit to buy it. It became a full time job for many ppl to chase 1 drink/dose at a time. They were lacing the already uniquely toxic & awful drug alcohol (aka ethanol, which is in gas you pump in your car, drink up!) with an even more toxic alcohol called methanol aka wood alcohol aka methyl alcohol. Sometimes they just sold it by itself by accident or indifference. Untold thousands of americans died. Many more went instantly permanently blind. Sound familiar? (Hint hint: fentanyl) Would fentanyl even exist had they never banned opium or heroin? Maybe. Probably not though.
