Okay, I give you an example of how powerful an actor Sir Anthony Hopkins is. I thought this was Sir Anthony at an actual AA meeting! I had no idea he was an actor delivering lines in a movie! You don't get more realistic, believable, convincing, and authentic than that. IMHO, he is better than the great Olivier, Brando, or many others. I place him in the hallowed company of comparable thespians as Peter O'Toole, Michael Caine, Dame Judy Dench, and Dame Maggie Smith. His voice is hypnotic. Bravo!

I would say that a great actor doesn't say the lines as if they were his own thoughts. He says them as if they were the own thoughts of the character. I think the problem with Hopkins is that he does what you say. They sound like lines AH actually thinks. There are some comments down below that argue whether the scene is from a movie or from an AA meeting. What creates this confusion? The fact that Antony Hopkins is often indistinguishable from the characters he plays. They become him rather than the other way around.

Anthony Hopkins is one of the greatest actors. So why isn't he one of the most popular?

Because his acting is deep, intense, often profound, not for everyday but rich and meaningful, indeed educational!? Shallow, trashy has more appeal to general audiences, possibly because of escapism factor??

Great acting , but on a serious note it’s not a mystery . The difference between heaven and hell is about “18” inches . That’s the normal length between your head and your heart . It’s not a battle of the intellect it’s a battle of the will which is in the heart . Peace 🙏

I know of a portuguese poem that goes like this (free translation): "A poet is a pretender. And occasionaly, he pretends so sincerely that he pretends to be pain the actual pain he sincerely feels". Grateful for the truth (+search, +doubts) of Anthony Hopkins (Sir).

You don't live only once. This belief makes people do reckless things. Energy is neither destroyed nor created it only transforms. We are energy and vibration as well.
