AJ just needed to do what any beginner would tell you to do, hands up, chin down. If he'd been a bit more solid and sensible with those basics I think he'd have had a enough opportunities like he had in the 5th round to win the fight. As it happened he boxed very poorly and got punished by a very big puncher. If he'd have milked the low blow for 5 mins rest I think he might have been able to win even from that terrible start. I'd back AJ to have a 50/50 to win the rematch.

He has an average chin. It's not that his punch resistance had gone, it's the same as it was to me, it's just he got hit by a big puncher who was putting it on him while showing very little defence.

Most heavyweights would have been knocked out by that looping snappy overhand right in round 1 TBF.. Joshua's chin is ok, just takes him a few rounds to recover when Fury can recover in 30s ISH Rematch will be different if he starts quicker, but this is a big mental scar AJs punch resistance hasn't gone fwiw, not like some. He's never been a granite chin dude. Needs to move his head and react quicker. AJ should carry on imo

Yes, the blame should definitely be on the corner. Who doesn't throw water on the fighter's face when he's been dropped seconds before, usually the fighter is being splashed even before he takes a seat on the stool after such a sequence. NO rubbing him hard to stimulate the CNS, etc. I didn't hear any advice from Davison between rounds...such as "HANDS UP" or work off the jab ONLY! NOTHING! Horrible, horrendous preparation...just SHOCKING how poorly the fight went from the first round!

Absolute Lemon. Daniel Dubois is one of the biggest punchers in boxing. He catches you as clean as he caught Joshua and you’re going over. Nothing to do with being chinny. Go bk to bed.

Yes but now his punch resistance HAS to be a concern going forward. He took a lot of punishment in those 5 rounds but mostly from jabs...his defense when hurt was actually pretty good but those hard ass jabs that he probably wouldn've normally avoided though. The last punch wasn't even that hard but it was CLEAN and directly on the chin! The fight was lost during the first round, you can't let your opponent "clock" you with a standard looping "check" right hand that ALL punchers use as a "throwaway" punch! The rule should be if against the ropes or if not sure where your opponent is then "automatic" high tight guard...take a few body shots until you can reset or clinch.

Yes, recall Lennox Lewis vs Hasim Rahman...not the same round but the same punch due to a lack of situational awareness and not knowing where your opponent was located. You gotta know that looping right was coming at some point, especially during the early rounds. It was not even like Dubios worked his way toward landing the shot, he had just reset after an awkward clinch and just threw it as a rather slow "check" overhand right. It was essentially a lucky punch! If AJ was "on-the-phone" he could have countered that punch to close the out the first round and given Dubios something to think about going forward!

I thought AJ would be too accurate and too powerfull for Dubois after Hrgovic could hit him so easily. But Dubois was brilliant, an absolutly sensational performance , keeping the pressure on from the start and not giving AJ a chance to get into a rythm . I always thought Dubois would be a champion but had expected it later in his career. 26 for a heavy weight is still a baby, amazing what he has achieved

Gutted for aj, how the uk keeps writing him off, kicking him after his losses, he has done so much for british boxing and boxing globally. Aj started all this saudi interest. Dubois came out fast, landed a huge right hook right on the chin, and aj struggled to recover, i was surprised aj made it through that round. Dubois was catching him far to easy, aj showed huge heart and chin. Dubois had no respect for aj for 5 rounds, til aj caught him with a good punch that backed dubois up for the first time, aj got greedy like the ruiz fight and tried to end it and got caught coming in. Dubois is one of the biggest punchers in the heavyweight division. AJ took clean overhand rights, straight right hands and left hooks from Dubois that would have knocked out the vast majority of heavyweights. AJ got up repeatedly and fought on, but some how his punch resistance is gone? Talksport should stick with football.

Miller and Hygovic took shots from Dubois and managed to stay on their feet. AJ has a glass amir khan level chin, andy ruiz who knocked out nobody ever at top level had aj falling all over the ring before forcing him to quit.
