If I am trying to think commercially for AJ, I understand why he is not fighting Dubois. Why risk it? If he loses he is done for, if he wins he sort of redeemed himself, but isnt there yet either. I think they are waiting the result of Usyk - Fury. They hope that Fury wins and will try to sell the narrative that Usyk - Fury 3 isnt necessary, because 'This was the real Fury, he didnt take the first match serious and Fury is clearly superior to Usyk. Then they make the AJ - Fury fight right away, because there is always gonna be interest in that match. If AJ doesnt take a fight in the mean time, AJ gets a lot preperation for that fight. They hope that somehow AJ beats Fury and sell the narrative that This version of AJ is his best version which is superior to Fury and therefor superior to Usyk. Against dubois he just had an offday. I dont think this is how AJ thinks, I think he is an amazing fighter and I like him a lot. I wouldn't be surprised however if this is how his team thinks.
