@@lauracin1086It actually makes a lot of sense if you look at all the specific details pointed out in that song. The "who you're known for (justin's ex)", "makeup and magazines (self explanatory)", "mom's pageant schemes (her mom used to be a pageant makeup artist)", "only see you through a tiny screen (phone screen/video calls)". It's actually one of the most logical theories, and given taylor's mind, it's highkey possible she could've drawn inspiration from Selena and also correlated it to other songs on "evermore". It doesn't have to be related to just one thing.

In No Body, No Crime, Este gets murdered by her husband after she confronts him about cheating. Because Taylor and her were friends, Taylor puts the pieces together of how the husband has new shiny tires and he moved on real quick, like too quick, and the mistress is now sleeping in her bed. Taylor then talks about how she knows how to clean a scene and get a boating license (which she would use to leave the scene), and how Este's sister is her alibi. So basically she kills him, and the mistress is framed because she took out a large life insurance before he died. So the gist of it is, Este is killed by her husband, and then Taylor kills her husband.
@xsweetness523x
@xsweetness523x 3 жыл бұрын
Yesss, I think the new tires mean Este slashed them when she caught him cheating, OR his tires had evidence of where he dumped the body. But Taylor's boating license helped her hide the husband's body, she dropped it in a lake somewhere probs

Este thinks her husband is having an affair but she can't prove it, and when she decides to call him out on it, he kills her, but they can't prove it. So Taylor decides to kill him with Este's sister help who'll say she was with her the whole time as an alibi. And since the man's mistress just took out an insurance policy, she looks like she's the one who killed him and has been planning it for a while. Folklore broke me, Evermore picked me up Folklore left me wondering, evermore gave me closure. It came full circle for me. Marjorie is a song that I'd listen to only when I'm emotionally steady again. I had no parents and my grandma brought me up all by herself. If I wrote a song for her, this would be perfect. It's been 8 years since she passed away but because of the memories that song evoked in me when I listened to it the first time, I actually saw my grandma in my dream last night. So, I'll be skipping that song for some time for obvious reasons. About the album, on my first listen, a lot of songs from Evermore kind of threw me off and left me confused. But then I listened to both albums back to back over and over again. And it all fall right into place. Believe me when I say it will all come together the more you listen. Great video as usual. I want to say how much I appreciate finding another black man who's able to appreciate Taylor's creativity & music. So thank you... But Yoooo, you did "cowboy like me" dirty.😆 Yeah it took me at least 3 listens to get it - 2 cynical con artists finding each other, opening their hearts, changing their ways & locking it down (I wanna believe they stayed together). And the guitar solo, what?! Beautiful. Now, I love it!

Here is a theory that Jules Gnu commented on another reaction video "Poet Reacts to Taylor Swift's Evermore" which works: "Ivy is probably about Emily Dickinson and her long-time lover Sue. They fell in love when they were young women and then Sue married Emily's brother (some believe she did this so that she could remain close to Emily and others wouldn't be suspicious of their love), and the two had a life long relationship documented by Emily's poems and letters to Sue. Taylor released Evermore on Emily Dickinson's birthday, and in two of Emily's letters to Sue, she ends them by writing "for evermore!" Sue has often been described as the “muse” for Emily’s poetry (“can’t stop you putting roots in my dreamland” could reference how her love for Sue was the inspiration for her poetry/creative outlet), the cottagecore imagery in the song resembles the setting in which their love flourished (poems and letters described the time they spent together in the woods and in nature). And one of Dickinson’s letters to Sue also reads “I guess I’m made with nothing but a hard heart of stone, for it don’t break any, and dear Susie, if mine is stony, yours is stone, upon stone, for you never yield, any, where I seem quite beflown.” So like in Ivy, the “house of stone” is Emily Dickinson’s “hard heart of stone” and the ivy that grows all over it is Sue’s love. AHHH! Oh and one more theory - the lyric "my pain fits in the palm of your freezing hand” could be referring to how Emily Dickinson left all of her poetry to Sue after she died (the “pain” being her poems) and how Sue was the only person/collaborator she trusted to share her first drafts of her poems with."

I know you mentioned in your folklore video you don't believe Taylor is only singing about romantic relationships in her two newest albums and I agree entirely. I appreciate that you noticed this too. I just want to add that Tolerate It is even more heartbreaking when you hear it from the perspective of a heartbroken neglected and/or abused daughter . That is how I hear it. No one can break your heart like the people who were supposed to love you unconditionally.

love your analyses of her lyrics. Marjorie gets me. Its so personal and I can't listen to it without crying. Her grandmother passed when Taylor was 13 yr old and was an Opera singer. If you go back and listen to it, the final chorus when she sings that she can hear her singing to her, there is a track of her grandmother actually singing opera in the background. And, Taylor lists her in the credits as singing background. Its a lovely song. Especially using the phrases that her grandmother taught her.

mo body, no crime lyrics spells it out clear as day. How are some of these comments even getting this wrong lmaooo Taylor* (in this universe) meets up with her friend, Este, at Olive Garden every Tuesday night. Este has been having marital issues, she suspects that her husband is having an affair based on the way he’s been acting recently and things like strange purchases on her husband’s bank statements. Este confronts her husband about the cheating she goes missing (he kills her). When Taylor drove past his house, she noticed that his car had new tyres and that the mistress had moved in - they both moved on quickly and made no effort to find Este. Taylor plots to kill Este’s husband; note she’s had her boating license since she was 15 (either she dumped his body in the ocean, or she used it as a getaway vehicle / or both) and she knows how to clean up a murder scene. Her alibi is set that she was with Este’s sister the night of the husband’s disappearance (probably noted that she was grieving with her due to her being so close with Este). Luckily for Taylor, the mistress took out a life insurance policy shortly after the husband’s death (super duper sketchy in the eyes of the law, especially so soon after the death of the loved one). The mistress fully suspects and subconsciously knows it was Taylor but can’t prove it; whilst simultaneously, the law enforcement have the mistress as the number 1 suspect but can’t prove it. Taylor got away with murder and avenged her friend

XD you missed the point of No Body No Crime. It's an avenging song. 1. Cheated wife calls out husband, saying she won't let the issue go until the day she dies. 2. Husband then kills her. 3. "Taylor" (the narrator character we don't know) finds out about it, and she knows the husband killed his wife, her friend, but can't prove it. 4. She sees him living with his mistress and getting off scot free. 5. So she decides to kill HIM, because she "wouldn't have peace until the day he died". 6. She knows the cops will blame the mistress because the mistress took a big life insurance on him. 7. The police are sure the mistress did it but can't prove it because it wasn't her, the mistress however knows that "Taylor" was actually the perpetrator (maybe because "Taylor" confronted her at some point?) but can't prove it either. 8. All women go on with their lives except for "Taylor's" friend who's body is also never found. Husband and wife are dead.

1. Selena's favorite movie is "Wizard of Oz' in which the heroin is called Dorothy. 2. "When we were younger, down in the park" there are instances and photos you can find Selena and Taylor back in 2013 in parks 3. "Honey, making a lark of misery" is referencing finding love in a miserable place. Back in 2013, Selena was dating her ex-boyfriend Justin Bieber, with who things didn't end well and both agreed that it was a toxic relationship. 4. "A tiny screen's the only place i see you now" Due to the pandemic and busy schedules, the pair hasn't been seen together in the same place since 2018. They recently reunited on Facetime on Selena's cooking show. 5. "And if you're ever tired of being known for who you know" Selena is often being cited next to Justin Bieber's name, which can be exhausting. 6. "You're a queen selling drean 8/10 makeup and magazines" Selena recently launched her beauty line 'Rare Beauty', and was acclaimed for the quality of it. She's also been on several magazine covers this year. 7. "Your mom and her pageant schemes" Selena's mom was a makeup artist when Selena was a kid, she says she's her inspiration for makeup. 8. You're such a joy to listen to!! I love your commentary and how open you are to try new things, I stumbled on this channel by accident and you're such a positive, lovely person!! I agree with almost all your opinions with the exception of Tolerate It, that it's one of my favorites in the album. It really is super sad and a lot of arrangements are different as hell from her usual music, both Tolerate It and Happiness are entirely new styles for Taylor and I'm so happy someone else noticed!

Please give cowboy like me another listen to. To me it’s my favorite on the album. To me it’s about two con artists who fall in love. The guitar and harmonica give me a 90s country feel. Ughhhh just amazing!!

I see Tis the damn season as coming home for Christmas every year and seeing someone you dated in high school. You fall back into it easily. They are the road not travelled and you think about if they was the better choice.

Also about Champagne Problems it reminds me of This Is Why We Can't Have Nice Things, during the first verse where she talks about the parties and being in a Champagne Sea. But yk I could just be crazy.

Dorothea could be abt selena gomez... She has a movie where her character name is Dot for dorothy. The line your good at selling dreams makeup and magazine...selena had a clothing line called dream out loud and she sells makeup. And then theres a line about her mom and pageantry and her shiny friends being her new LA friends who her fans think is using her fir her fame. You are known for who you know, it could be abt how people always refer her name with justins name

My theory is that illicit affairs and tolerate are connected. In illicit affairs she sings "don't call me kid" and "you showed me colors I can't see with anybody else" and in tolerate it she sings "waiting like a kid" "I used my best colors for your portrait". In illicit affairs she sings that she would lose herself and it's clear he sees it as just an affair. Tolerate it continues this story.

@iansongs1

@@AnthonyAikenJr I haven't found other connections but I'm sure they're there. I think she probably connected a lot of the evermore songs with her earlier albums and was inspired to continue those stories while re-recording.

@@AnthonyAikenJr if I may enter - there are many! Just for example, if you watch the music video of willow on youtube you will find invisible string ('a single thread of gold tied me to you'), seven (the kids in the tent), mirrorball (taylor in that glass chamber 'to keep you looking at me') and surely much more in other songs!!! Your edits by the way are just superb. Peak. Fire dude 🔥
