i had the sony and returned it for the canon. I do almost only photography. The canon is easier to use for most topics. Very annoying on the Sony, if you want to use your iPhone for GPS, you can't close the back screen. If the camera is switched off, or does it by itself the connection needs to be redone with opening the Sony App on the phone. IBIS and dark scenes are way better on the Canon as is anything green. I wanted the Sony, as you can get autofocus for vintage lenses on it. This isn't offered for Canon. But the 58mm 1.4 from Minolta (and thus related to the Sony) looks much more natural on the Canon. Here it is really a dream lens.

The megapixel war was over a while ago. Unless youre blowing up your shots to poster size or you do a lot of heavy cropping, 24 MP is plenty. Once you pass a certain threshold - and both cameras have passed it - it becomes a balance between density and individual pixel size. The larger each individual pixel, the better light gathering capabilities they have - thus less noise. Generally speaking.

Yes, i am envious of the full frame coverage of the R6 II, but even in full frame, the sensor on the R6 II has less dynamic range than the a7 IV has when shooting in aps-c crop mode (and less than my Panasonic S1 and S5 cameras, too). Gerald Undone speculates that it is only a 12-bit readout (instead of 14-bit) which results in faster readout (and less rolling shutter) at the expensie of dynamic range, and the ability to recover data from dark shadows with noise reduction in post. But hey, if yoiu own a R6 MK II, keep rocking on with it!!! There is no perfect camera (my Panasonic bodies are certainly far from perfect).

Hey Canon lover. Here I want to leave a grain of sand for you. High megapixels do not determine which camera will have better resolution and sharp image quality. It is proven that 12 megapixels is more than enough to have premium quality in both photography and filming. What determines the quality is the one behind the camera and the sensor of that camera, it is the one that records or shoots well-focused photos that will make it look well done. That's why Sony crushes Canon by a thousand miles, you can't compare a Sony RAW 16-bit full frame sensor that has a superior advantage over a Canon that is still in 35mm 12-bit sensor that is the same "APS-C" in Sony, for example: a Sony A7IV with its 33mp, full frame sensor, plus the high-end computing, plus the color science it has makes your Canon look like a baby. In my years of career I have not seen professionals use Canon to make serious movies, they always use Arri, Red or Sony. That's why you see a Sony fx6, Venice or Burano with 12 megapixels that make the images look more stunning. Canon is a very good brand but everything looks very flat and to make a photo look good you have to alter it in lightroom with a lot contrast, saturation, +4 sharpness and even then the photos don't look as good as on a Sony. I go further, the Atomos company has wanted to take Canon into filming, giving it the privilege of having access to being able to record 8k with a Canon R5 and several pros have done tests with a Sony fx3 in 4k DCI vs with R5 and they determine that the FX3 does It does a better job than the Canon when they lower the resolution from 8K to 4K because the industry is not ready for 8K yet. So this 8k thing is marketing to sell, so don't believe everything you hear and see, better do tests and I assure you that at some point in your life I will see you switching to Sony. Cheers

If you use Sony you'll notice it has more room for editing, but if you prefer the look straight out of the camera, canon is a good choice

Yeh but they ditched the clean HDMI output which is a massive deal breaker for me coz I need that live stream for my weddings

The biggest deal breaker for Sony a7iv is the warpy rolling shutter.
@hannaortega9154 Жыл бұрын
The rolling shutter is actually better on the A7IV in APS-C mode when compared to the FX30's rolling shutter. I know he's comparing Canon's R6 to the Sony in this video, but I thought it'd be relevant nonetheless.
