I've only good things to say about FAST Rings. They really do work wonders! I've tested both without them and with them in the same car. Another nice thing is, when you build an SQ system, you might have to take the door card apart a few times, to look for something that might interfere with certain frequencies, but the Rings stays put. They hold their shape and does not loosen from what they're stuck on to.
@AnthonyJ3507 жыл бұрын
Ya I think that's where FAST Rings will be a victim of their own success. It's not just any old cheap foam and the adhesive seems to be really good. I can see a lot of people trying to substitute it for something else or a lot of knock offs coming out. This and sound deadening will be put on as many speaker installs as we can do for people looking to get the most out of the speaker upgrades.
@bradleybeauchamp55824 жыл бұрын
I'm not to sure if anybody has commented on this but the foam ring that is supposed to be put around the back side of the speaker is to prevent water from dripping onto it, it really isn't supposed to be cut down to a quarter inch and used as a gasket between the back of the speaker and the door like what is done in this video. Since a rubber speaker baffle was used there wasn't a need for that specific piece of foam as it already incases and covers the back of the speaker.
@AnthonyJ3504 жыл бұрын
You sure about that? kzbin.info/www/bejne/mXfbmZSwjtWZZtk
@bradleybeauchamp55824 жыл бұрын
@@AnthonyJ350 yeah I also have seen all of his videos, and yeah he does use that piece for a gasket, but that doesnt mean that is what it is designed for. If the manufacture designed that specific piece to be installed as a gasket they wouldn't have made it like 3 or 4 inches deep. Five Star Audio on You Tube uses them on every install in the way I said they were supposed to be used, they then use foam gasket tape that comes in a roll for the gasket part.

@@bradleybeauchamp5582 There more than one way to get similar results. If you want to protect the speaker more, take a speaker baffle then cut out the bottom section so you still get air volume but get way more coverage to protect the speaker kzbin.info/www/bejne/pV7IfIhmo56HnK8
@bradleybeauchamp55824 жыл бұрын
@@AnthonyJ350 like I said in my first comment since a speaker baffle was already being used there wasn't the need to use that piece of foam in that manner. NVX makes the best speaker baffles in my opinion, although depending on the door panel and the angle of the speaker they might not be ideal, they would be best for flat mounted speakers and door panels that are even distance around the speaker. They are open in the back and they also have a front section that acts like a fast ring to mate up to the door panel.

Sup man. I can clearly see the physics of this product. it's similar to securing a woofer. Not only does this funnel sound but also provides a nice firm seal. Acoustics in the door is now contained inside the cabin. I might need some rings lol
@AnthonyJ3507 жыл бұрын
Hey dude! Ya I was sceptical how much of a difference it would make given the design of the factory door skin and I already installed a bunch of Dynamat already. But I could hear so much more detail from the mid-range woofer, and there was some more mid-bass as well. I guess when you eliminate all that existing distortion going on behind the speaker and in the door panel the speaker can really do its job. Highly recommend.

Would this be a good item to purchase for my purpose? I have a 1999 Silverado that came with no speaker adapters and the speakers were drilled straight into the door panel. I get a lot of door rattles unfortunately
@AnthonyJ350Ай бұрын
I would install sound deadening to wear the speaker mounts, use Hushmat or Dynamat equivalent and then install the FAST rings afterwards.

Thanks for being a viewer! Ya some people don't appreciate good ideas or want to support those ideas. So they will rip it off with something that won't work as well. I guess that's why you see successful high performance individuals, and then there are "the other guys" lol.

Hey, I’m a little lost. When you installed the speaker rings you used all three foam inserts? Even first foam block directly behind speaker while still using the baffle @ 4:08?
@AnthonyJ3503 жыл бұрын
I cut it down a lot, but yes I did. I also recently modified my baffle. I cut out the bottom of the baffle to get more air space improving mid bass output from the speaker.
@guitarguy32215 жыл бұрын
Did you just wedge the thick piece of foam between the metal door and the speaker? There's a metal ridge along the inside of my '02 Chevy that only 1/3 of the adhesive surface touches. No telling if it will hold up for me
@guitarguy32215 жыл бұрын
Also, there's a vid showing a plastic/rubber baffle the guy put over the big window access hole inside the door. Would you suggest that in addition to fast rings?

That's what I do, if it's too thick you can just cut it.

Would just regular baffles do just as good?
@AnthonyJ3504 жыл бұрын
For eliminating the back wave I think they would be effective. What we do it we cut out the bottom section to allow the door to still be the enclosure. We find if you leave the baffle completely sealed it takes away too much volume and really reduced mid bass. By leaving the back portion intact you help eliminate the standing backwave.
