Definitely need to do some older Anthrax. Lone Justice, Among the Living, I am the Law. Got the Time, I’m the Man. They had some good stuff when John Bush replaced Joey Belladonna as well. Someone below suggested In The End. That is a recent track and that album is without a doubt one of their best. That song was about the death of Dimebag if I am not mistaken.

Anthrax were forerunners in the "New York Hardcore" which was really a punk/thrash fusion - they deserve to be 1 of the big 4! The sound branched off into other genres and encompass a TON of music in the 80's, but the Anthrax thrash with the punk attitude really was some of the best music of the day and it has stood the test of time. Their latest album has some bangers on it. I heard my first Anthrax song in summer 84 - metal thrashing mad - will never forget it.

Anthrax is crazy underrated and their cover songs like this one are excellent, the version in French as well. Their Sabbath Bloody Sabbath cover I absolutely love it and I wish they would have kept going at the end and covered Sweet Leaf. I think their influence in the industry went farther than a lot of people give them credit for, given the existence of S.O.D, United Forces, and Municipal Waste and maybe crossover thrash in general.

Since this was a cover, I would recommend Intro to reality/Belly of the Beast from their Persistence of Time album for your next Anthrax song. Intro to reality is a cool instrumental (great bass parts) that leads directly into Belly of the Beast (a really great Anthrax song about the Holocaust). Any song of Spreading the Disease is also recommended (A.I.R or Lone Justice) and their newer stuff is also epic ( try Breathing Lightning from For All Kings)

"Medusa", "Gung Ho", or "Indians".... my three fave Anthrax tracks in no particular order EDIT: Also, yes, Anthrax in general is much closer to the punk influences on thrash, while Metallica and Megadeth filtered that punk energy through Motorhead which straddled that line between more traditional metal and punk. If you wanna check out more punk check out "Holiday in Cambodia," ""Kill the Poor," or "Let's Lynch the Landlord" by the Dead Kennedys, or "Blitzkrieg Bop," "I Wanna Be Sedated," or "I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend" by the Ramones, or, finally, "White Trash (2nd Generation)," "You," or "21st Century (Digital Boy)" by Bad Religion. There are so many more great punk bands, like the Misfits and Black Flag that also left their marks on the early thrash founders, but these are some of my faves, and cover both the political, personal, and philosophical concepts that form the "standard" (lol) punk ideology.

Any serious 'Thrax fan will have seen the many recent short KZbin videos they uploaded celebrating 40 yrs. They speak about all albums in order, how they came to be etc with loads of input from other famous rockers. A must watch for any fan. It makes you understand their 40 yr journey. As for songs: Madhouse, Caught In a Mosh, Indians, NFL, Got The Time, Metal Thrashing Mad (the song that invented the term "thrash" (The song was reviewed in Kerrang magazine and the first time thrash was used to describe this type of music)). Up to that point bands like Metallica were calling themselves 'power metal'. So we got 'Thrax to thank for the term thrash (not who started making thrash first, that's different). Also, for purest of thrash, drummer Charlie Benante and Guitarist Scott Ian formed a crossover band called Stormtroopers of Death (S.O.D). The album 'Speak English or Die' is a crossover tongue-in_cheek parody type band but theres some amazing hardcore punk/thrash songs on it. Should check out 2 songs (which are played together) March of The SOD & Sgt D and The SOD. First 2 tracks on the album. Anyway, cheers, Keep rockin' 🤘🏻

Anthrax does seem to throw in more major voicings and resolutions than most metal. #Funner lol Got The Time was my introduction to them and it's still my favorite. When that comes on while I'm driving I have to be very careful. Apparently they used to record (or practice?) near me in upstate NY. It may have been Anthrax which inoculated me against Abercrombie... The two singers have such different sounds. This is Joey Beladonna and the next is John Bush from Armored Saint (Think starting in 92?) on the Sound of White Noise album, which has a very definitive 1990's thing going on without them trying to go into grunge on that popularity wave. First release off that was "Only," and it's crazy melodic for how heavy it is

You should try a song of theirs called "In The End". Tribute to Ronnie James Dio and Dimebag Darryl. It's an amazing tribute complete with bells. Yep....Bells and a killer beat drop. A real head banger.

I'm the Man and Indians are the two tracks that jump into my head right of the bat as far as more Anthrax tracks to check out. But TBH they have an amazing catalog of stuff from the eighties. Cheers and welcome to 2022!!

Love the good ol thrash !!! Keep up the good work on the new year. 👍🏻 ELDER compendium. Is a must. Do some Melvins for the early sludge pioneers The JESUS LIZARD. For best bass tone. ( my pick anyway) in my bass tone journey of life. Hahaha Awwlright always still here

You should try the original french version by the band trust. The song is very similar but with significant differences. They were one of the first french metal bands and indeed they took a lot of influence from British punk music. And they were indeed very political, a staple of union strikes and demonstrations in the 80's.

This is a cover, isn't it? The album insert credits Norbert Krief and Bernie Bonvoisin for this song.

Well this was one of the few covers Anthrax did into albums. From this album i think Now it´s dark or Who cares wins would´ve been more of the staly for this reckord.

As far as I can remember Anthrax - I'm The Man was the first attempt at rap/rock ..other then the Aerosmith/Run DMC - Walk this way mash-up and the fact that the Beastie Boys were Punk before transitioning to rap...Anthrax seemed to be the first to put both styles in one song that was written by them and it was terribly awesome!!! I would still vote for Testament as #4 in the Big 4 but they have some good stuff. BTW Loved your live video yesterday. Keep up the awesome work Geebz! ...still holding out hope that I'm in that long ass list of songs you are "circling back" to.......Jason Richardson and Luke Holland - Ho's Down . I'm still here ! Awwwright!

Oh and Attack of the Killer B's had a remix of I'm the man... 91 remix.. It wasn't as good as the first on tho.. Man now I want to listen to it again... It's been many years. Ode to milk was my favorite back then. I wonder if Geebz is ready for MOD! 😂
