When I was an 8 year old kid, I went to Shea Stadium to see to Mets vs. Phillies. I was a huge fan of Lenny Dykstra with him formerly being a Met, so considering he was on the Phillies at this time, I saw this as an opportunity to try to get his autograph. I shouted out to Lenny "Can I have an autograph" and he looked right at me and told me to "F off kid". John Kruk overheard this, ran half way across the infield to the third base line and said "F*ck that guy, he's an assh*le kid". He took off his hat, signed it, screamed into the dugout for them to throw him a ball, he signed it and then pulled me towards him and told my Mother to take a picture. He then he kissed the top of my head while grabbing my face and said "Don't look up to Lenny Dykstra, he's a loser". I've been a mega fan of John Kruk ever since. Absolute chad!

I wish he'd been able to play longer. We loved him in SD. His career .397 OBP and .843 OPS says it all. Perhaps if he'd taken better care of himself he would not have broken down so soon. He hit .308 with a .399 OBP in that last season with the White Sox.
