Thanks. I put my Meyle front drop links on today. They seem more solid than the o.e. You helped me out as the roads in Luton are terrible.

No problem. I still have the same ones shown in this video 6 years on. They're really good value so will hopefully serve you just as well.

Good video. Agree totally about the Mahle kit. It's excellent.

Those ocraps! remind me of the links I got off ebay. They claimed to be genuine OEMS but how wrong was I. They barely lasted a few months before I had issues. Not only the boot was very small but the actual diameter was a good few mil thinner.

Same experience here. OCAP, more like Oh! Crap! EDIT; Haha, just got to the part in the vid where Si said exactly the same about them. Oh crap is a pretty obvious nickname though.

After 130,000 miles and 7 years my vw transporter needed new stuff up front knocking etc so 3 years since I’ve had the front rebuilt 4 times. And now I’ve had enough of shit parts and shit mechanics telling me they,ve fitted oem original parts etc, last wishbones fitted were ocraps and 20,000 miles. In it needs replacing again. This time I’m doing myself! lemforder arms fitted correctly torqued at ride hieght! And I’m going with Meyle Hd drop links and bush kit 4yr warranty. Also anything with a ball joint that’s a serious component I’ll always go TRW so many forums say they are the oem ball joints for BMW etc. I know this as lemforder ball joints aren’t that good I’ve had steering rods and ball joints fail very quickly but there rubber bushes are the oem for BMW vw etc.

And I thought I'm the only one who had 4 sets changed in a year LOL

My OCAPs started knocking within 2 months and I only do 4-5k miles PA. I was replacing drop links annually pre-MOT with cheap stuff from ECP (I forget what the other crap brand was, but they were no better than OCAP) that would then start knocking again soon after. Got a full set of Meyle HD from eBay for about £40 and they've been fine for 2 years now.

Just change boot a lot easier and cheaper,20 minute job on a vauxhall.If ball joint is ok no need to change link. When you fit boot spray it every 6 months or so with wd40 this will mean boots will last for ages.If no wd40 use 3 in 1 spray oil. The reason boots will last for ages is that the wd40 or 3 in 1 keeps the boot rubber soft.Another tip is when fitting new boots use cable ties instead of metal clips,just tighten them and trim off excess cable tie.(Sometimes the metal clips can gradually cut into the rubber of the boot).

At just £12 each for a straight swap with no replacement boot or annual maintenance required, I'm not sure how your solution is either easier or cheaper. The video is 4 and a half years old and the links are still working fine.

Hey, i just purchased 2 rear end sway links. One of them is stiff and the other link has easily movable ends. Is that normal ?
@sirobb4 жыл бұрын
Being movable isn't necessarily bad as long as they aren't floppy. If the rubber boots are ok and they're packed with grease, they're probably ok.
@TheDNM774 жыл бұрын
SiRobb its new with fresh boots and everything. I feared that one end link was defective because it moves more than the other. Thanks for the info.

@sirobb6 жыл бұрын
Androgyne Never heard of Starline. TRW are good. You can get Meyle much cheaper on ebay...... Plenty of sellers.

Don’t use Meyle HD wishbones....only lasted 6 months on my 2002 v70 d5
@sirobb6 жыл бұрын
Yes, on my wishbone video, I use genuine Volvo. Some Meyle products are as good as genuine but wishbones aren't one of those products.

What would recommend as a replacement part for the wishbones?
@sirobb9 жыл бұрын
Genuine Volvo or Lemforder

I only use genuine Volvo parts on my V70. I've learned that it's a false economy to buy anything less...
