This is almost exactly how I was so nearly scammed for my tbow. Only difference was a different door. In hindsight I was baffled at how elaborate the lure was. I was seconds from losing the bow. Only reason they didn’t get it was because I stayed calm, hopped worlds, moved back on the tile my items were on, and hopped worlds again. These scammers are no joke.

You could and still can spam the doors but when you did so BEFORE the update it became locked shut. So after the fix instead of locking the door it becomes open for minutes. But that introduces problems like we see in this video. You can't get past the door if you have no way to go around it. That is how I interpreted it.

Pretty sure they were just programmed to open the door if kemp tried closing it, and ultimately jamming it. Kemp never tried closing the door though so it wasn’t jammed yet and just normal closing/opening until Kemp arrived which it might have gotten it jammed then

He's incorrect about it jamming for minutes, the door jams for around 20 seconds, the trade menu was open for part of this duration as the scammer is trying to wait out a portion of the time the item is on the floor for and the rest is spent split between teleport animation, banking and running.

There was a guy spamming “show 3 mil and I’ll pay you 10 mil” next to GE, and a guy that looked new went over, opened trade, asked him, “how do I do this?” Guy explained, the scammee said “idk show me?” Scammer did, then scammee reverse robbed him 😂

Not even rightclick will work because the right click item list is too long and prioritizes the cats. So you wont be able to pick anything back up until its too late i know cus i used to do this scam

Nice video! People have been doing this kind of lure for yearssssssssssss. I remember back in 2020 or 2019 people targeted me with the exact same scam. However the final destination was a room in upstairs Varrock castle! At that time they beefed up the scam with a KZbin video that was supposed to basically help you antiscam the scammers. But they cooked up the video just to make everything look even more legit.

There's a chance they flood the world with enough bots that it becomes full to prevent hopping. Or that they've already stuck the doors on adjacent worlds in anticipation. Don't take the risk and try to outscam a scammer (Unless you're KempQ).

You could also potentially bring runes to tele grab. Drop them on the other side of the door. If they ask to check your inventory beforehand just drop them on the ground then pick them up.

I got got by this lure 3 years ago, so I suppose it's been around for a while. Only the location was different. I thought I was a step ahead of the scammer, but I didn't see the door block thing coming. After it happened, I was thinking of ways I could have picked the item up, and wondered could I have hopped worlds, walked over the tile the item was on, and then hopped back to pick it up. Or do ground items follow you from world to world now like death piles do?
