Tbf, this was near the end of the war. Most of what was left of the German army were rushed conscripts, the old, and wounded. Not to mention the fact that they probably hadn’t had any food or rest for awhile. Morale was probably low too.

@@maseoembry4165 AT had kill markings on the barrels + mutiple recent burnt out tanks in the field, meaning these crews had no issue with killing other tanks offscreen. Obviously in a realistic scenario, Fury and the other shermans would've been knocked out but this is just an Hollywood action movie. If you are going into the movie expecting a realistic depiction of the battles, you are going to be sorely disappointed. Fury was a movie showing the horrors of war, how it can affect and change the moral compass of a man shown by following the story of the new hull gunner. Just all the realism snobs being miserable and beating down on the movie because "erm that Tiger scene was not realistic, the long 76 could easily deal with the tank frontally from a distance, 4 shermans to kill a tiger myth," holding the movie to standards it was never setting out to achieve and ignoring the reason Fury was created in the first place.

The combat in this movie is the worst. Those guns are PaK 40's. For those who have never seen one they are about 3 feet tall and 3 feet wide and would one shot a Sherman. A moving Sherman scoring direct hits is as ridiculous as the PaK 40's missing an as big as a house Sherman at the same range. And do not get me started on the Tiger fight.

Can’t agree more. This scene feels just awkward. Open field, clear sight, slow moving tank, short range, and German AT guns keep missing. I hope the creator came up with something to make the scene believable, like a foggy weather or smoke screen.

The German 88 was said to be 100% accurate at 1,000 yards. Obviously that’s in perfect conditions and battle conditions, green troops etc would make it less accurate although you would think they would have hit those tanks easily.
@mattrinck750321 күн бұрын
If it was 100% accurate at 1000 yards, then they wouldn't have lost the war. I think you're right though that battle conditions and an inexperienced crew were in play in this scene. The director also said that in an actual battle the tanks would've been far more spread out to present a less tempting target, but that wouldn't work on screen because you would only get one tank on screen at a time.

Just plain garbage Hollywood script. From that distance with the element of surprise on their side there is NO WAY those AT guns would have missed every single shot. Especially not high since they were aiming at the tracks and lower hull first to bring them to a halt. That was the main objective of every experienced AT crew. Make the tank stop first so it can't further advance towards them and then finish it off. Bad, bad unrealistic, totally bogus script. Nice optics but no reality!
