A Tide of Black Steel is a sequel series to the Covenant of Steel, and it does contain spoilers for how that trilogy ends, FYI.

Is it just me, or is the cover of "An Academy of Liars" super similar to the blue edition of "Strange the Dreamer"? The only difference is that the cover is black and that the moth is the right side up instead of upside down?

I'm looking forward to Naomi Novik's new book. It's a short story collection so might not be interesting to some people, but it includes a sneak peek into her next series' world.

Okay when you were reading the synopsis for Academy for Liars, I thought you said "lush, moth-draped campus" (which you can't really blame me for since there's a moth on the cover) and I was like AHHHH HARD PASS because I have a moth phobia 😂😂😂 I started picturing a building covered in moths and got full body chills ahaha

Bringer of Dust is out in September as well- the sequel to Ordinary Monsters.

For September im so looking forward to Phantasma by Kaylie Smith, A.G. Howards book #2, Seasons of Flesh and Flame, i cannot understand how her books are not super popular. Also, The Thirteenth Child by Erin Craig, The Games Gods Play by Abigal Owens, Immortal Dark by Tigest Girma. Sept seems to be a pretty big release month along with November which is like holy smokes. Oct has only a few Im interested in but these last couple months have lots of books i want to add to my library, what i need now is a big bag of money😂😂😂

Wow, you've got me adding a few more titles to my TBR list! 📚 The blend of genres and intriguing plots makes these September releases sound so promising. I'm especially intrigued by 'A Hunger With No Name'-the environmental focus and desert setting give me major Studio Ghibli vibes too, but with a unique twist. Can't wait to dive into these! Also, thanks for including those pre-order links-you're making it way too easy for me to justify my next book haul. 😂

I'm bookmarking The Gods Below. It sounds awesome. And I'm really happy I learned about it close to its release date. And, definitely putting A Tide of Black Steel on my TBR. Regarding the Academia trope. I don't care for it. But listening to you read the summary for An Academy for Liars, I think I'd try reading one where a main character is invited to a magical school and declines - and the story is about that, maybe? Idk. I think that would turn the trope on its head lol.

I'm mostly waiting for The Scarlet Throne by Amy Leow, I've got the ARC and it's really interesting so far, both character-wise and world-building wise. I haven't seen any Nepalese inspired fantasy before this book.

I’m anticipating a lot of these but also I think, Us in ruins by Rachael Moore sounds really fun 🏹 Also The thirteenth child by Erin A. Craig comes out at the end of September which I’m surprised you didn’t mention cause I know you liked her other books. I really loved her other books myself and can’t wait for this new one cause it sounds so good, a dark fairytale 🧚🏻♀️

I've got 5 new releases I'm anticipating in September mostly mysteries. JD Robb, Andrea Penrose, Grace Burrows, Victoria Gilbert, David Weber/Richard Fox (SF). Otherwise, In Sept, I do a readathon, Spy vs Spy September - highlighting spy books so I've got a TBR for that. September is a big month for me reading wise :) Also, if you want to check it out, I do new releases, genre by genre, every Monday through Friday, week by week. I love your channel, Elliot. One of my regular watches.

The Wandering Inn book 13 by Pirateaba comes out Sept 10th amazing series, I think you might like it. It takes a minute to get into and you have to get past some teenage complaining in the very begining but it gets so good. Very good world building pretty cool magic system there isn't really a romantic subplot but the character development I feel is really good especially for side characters. I usually listen to about a 100+ fantasy audiobooks a year and the series has jumped into my top five I would say of all time. It's not super heavy You can jump in and jump out but it's not like a feel-good fantasy I would call it a "new age all rounder" death, life, betrayal, accomplishment, mindset shifts, Cool magic, different species, iseki adventure, ect. Ok I'm done now.

This has been a slow publishing year - I think publishing is stabilizing post-covid. So many things were pushed out during and immediately after lockdown but IMO we can’t really expect to zomg LOVE more than 10-20 books per year; the scale of publishing doesn’t really work that way, especially outside of fantasy. Litfic is only trying to sell 2-5 books per customer per year. But also a lot of my fave authors have new books out in the very beginning of next year and publishing always slows down after November.
