Finally someone says it out loudly! Patients tell this for decades. Giving antidepressants as first line treatment is just extremely harmful, unethical practice.

So for people like my better half and I who were in a work related car accident, developed panic/anxiety disorder with agoraphobia, were home bound for four years … what’s your suggestion for us? To apply for MAID and just be done with it? Yes, there are side effects and risks. We take blood pressure medication… do you have the same opinion on those? This is truly preposterous. Sometimes the risks outweigh the benefits.

Uh benzodiazepines....
@waynemasters
@waynemasters 2 ай бұрын
Benzodiazepines aren't the answer, either. With anxiety disorder, agoraphobia, much of what we need is CBT, etc. We've been on Clonazepam 1 mg 3/day since 2008 and it's just not working.

Another problem is we're stuck at my Mum's in Central Arkansas. There are zero options here for therapy. We're from Pittsburgh, where all our Doctors are. Arkansas "healthcare" is abysmal. Believe me, we have as many options as a company about to file Chapter 7.

@@waynemasters if Clonazepam isn't helping you guys I really don't know what to tell you. That medication has let me live my life and wipes out my anxiety completely at 1mg b.i.d. CBT did nothing for me. Do you live in a old house that may have black mold? That can play a huge part in mental health.
@waynemasters

I’m thankful that the Clonazepam has been helpful for you. It was for us, until we started taking 3mg of Lexapro. We came to Arkansas in June 2021 from Pittsburgh to help my Mum through several knee surgeries. Of course, the idiotic pandemic was going on then, and in PA, the lockdowns absolutely wrecked me and my significant other. Prior to the lockdown, we were doing great, but got back into an agoraphobic mindset. At my Mum’s, it’s very rural. Her house does indeed have black mould from storm damage that her insurance company didn’t cover. Prior to 29 days ago we had only taken Clonazepam 1mg t.i.d. I had a major panic attack on June 30th, and it was so intense that even the Clonazepam didn’t cover what the anxiety was dishing out. That’s when I spoke with a Psychiatrist on Talkiatry and he prescribed Lexapro and wanted me and my significant other to take 10mg. We tried up to 6mg, but the side effects were far too much. We’ve stuck to 3mg/day since. The biggest issue in Arkansas is there are no providers. The temporary Doctor we’ve been seeing here has been no help, and finding a Psychiatrist and Therapist has been impossible. We’re trying to get back home, but with the inflation and helping my Mum, we went through our savings. It’s just a mess. Honestly, we just don’t know what to do. I’m thankful it’s helping you, but our current situation is just terrible.

Ok very well, but how do we deal with those who really need it to live a normal life? If there is currently no real alternative, what should sufferers do? Continue to suffer in silence?

thank you for commenting and watching. I think antidepressants definitely have a place but not as a first line treatment. I'd like to see them used more caustiously only when other less risky interventions have failed

@@georgiabessie Yes I agree with you, before deciding to take Zoloft almost three years have passed, I went to psychotherapy and I still do it, but my pain did not improve, now for a month and a half of sertraline I am starting to feel better and with the necessary strength to start again with my life, I am aware of my choice, I have worked for many years in the mental health sector, I know that these drugs are to be used wisely, as well as tapering.

@@manuelandreatta3341 Good luck to you. I was on Effexor for 23 years. After 2 unsuccessful attempts to stop, I weaned myself over 15 months with significant withdrawal symptoms. It’s not just being on…it’s getting off.

I think this is a bit silly. If it weren’t for Lexapro I may have lost my life. I tried everything for 30+ years. Have gotten off it and on it. My life is 1000 times better on Lexapro. So many people suffer because they are in fear of SSRI. What I have personally observed is it isn’t withdrawal when stopping that is the issue, it is relapse. I mean isn’t the whole reason people get on it initially is because they are in a dark place

what about suicide risk. If attempted once already is this drug helpful for that used for the short term? Is that worth the side effect , assuming it works which doesn't seem to be to me.

Antidepressants is a pharma marketing term, they don't exist. They are drugs that affect the serotonin systems and they don't work at all for depression or anxiety. There are a lot of serious research proving this watch this video: the myth of low serotonin & antidepressants Dr. Mark Horowitz Best wishes.

I really would like a professional to do a video about mood stabilizers. After I weaned off the antidepressant and mood stabilizer almost 10 years ago - my depression, seasonal Affective Disorder, PMDD and ADHD went away. I'm not kidding. These drugs are literal poison and cause mental problems and physical diseases.

I fully agree, knowing what I know now about the affects of histamine on the body and the brain. We are seeing a explosion of people given medications during the pandemic for anxiety and depression, you couple this with the huge number of MAST CELL ACTIVATION SYNDROM victims from long covid and vaccine injury and the lack of mental health services and professionals and the human race is in deep shxx. Every medical issue should be HOLLISITCALLY approached including mental health. I wish you had of stayed in Australia Josef...cheers Gary
