Awesome, I can't wait for my try on kit to show up. I have a helmet that I can't wear that often because it is not eyeglasses compatible so this is going to be a huge help to me. Use shaving cream (not get) for inside your glasses and sheild. It's the best hands down, and doesn't have any risk of scratching, minus the cloth you use to rub it with. And a dab will do ya. Literally, a small dab is enough for two lenses, and a couple of dabs for the shield. I ride through winter too (down to -25C) and it is the method that last the longest. My wife completely geeked out with you too, when you showed the sunglass attachment, and loves your video.

I feel you as a fellow wearer of glasses. My prescription is light and I technically did pass the eye exam for my license last time. Barely. As I age, they’re getting worse and dammit, I need readers now. Fogging is a problem and not just in the winter. I had fogging problems last weekend in California. Opening your visor helps clear them. I have never got contacts because I don’t want to have to mess with them. They seem like way more trouble and frustration than just dealing with fogging sometimes. And your story only adds additional reasons to why I don’t want to use them. FWIW, I think those glasses look fine on you. I use transitions lenses. Modern ones tint up pretty fast. I love them. I use a clear visor, which means when it gets dark, I’m still good to go. Those Flying Eyes sound great. I don’t just ride for fun. I ride to work. Every day. Well, I did before Covid anyways. I’ve been able to work from home since them the majority of the time, but eventually I’ll be commuting a lot more. So having glasses more moto friendly would be really nice.

Thank you for another interesting video. For those of us old enough to require varifocals, measure the distance from your normal riding position, to the clocks and advise your optician of it, normally they are set up for a reading book/magazine distance, which differs from what is required.

I find that just adjusting the tilt of my head slightly allows me to find that focus point with my progressive lenses without any issues.

I feel like people ask this question all the time and I always tell them lift your visor from time to time. I've also noticed a lot of people never lift their visor which I just find odd since I pop it open at every stop (unless it's an emergency stop of course). I've been wear rx glasses while riding for years, I had to figure out things on my own. 1. buy glasses with straight temples- they go on and off easy with a helmet on. 2. Use a glasses case inside tank bag or get a windshield/handlebar pouch for glasses. 3. Secure your glasses in (2. above) whenever putting on or taking off helmet. 4. carry a small cleaning kit (alcohol spray/lens cloth/ or disposable wipes with you. 5. I have to carry 2 sets- Rx sunglasses and regular glasses. Having a pair made specifically for riding motorcycles with transition lenses + polycarbonate for maximum protection is a really good idea. Currently I have polycarbonate/polarized sunglasses, which are what I wear most of the time on the bike.

I was looking for a solution that lets me wear prescription glasses both in low-light/night AND daytime/sunny weather that doesn't involve require me to carry several tints of visors, or a prescription pair of sunglasses that I can't wear at night. I take my helmet with me when getting new glasses, to test both for comfort and vision. I have found that Shoei helmets always seem to work well with glasses as they have. a cut-outs in the padding for the arms and different sizes of top and cheek padding to get the best fit.

Interestingly when I used to ride in the cold in Canada, I ended up disassembling an industrial filtered respirator. I used the rubber mask portion that goes over the nose and mouth. Sealed up the 2 holes o the sides (for the filters) which left one hole facing downwards. I'd hold it against my mouth and nose while putting on the full face helmet. The helmet kept it in place and I never fogged my glasses or visor. There was no pin lock back then! Thanks Lali and Hi from Ottawa Canada 🇨🇦.

“Why don’t you just wear contacts???” Um..: cuz I don’t wear contacts... nor do I have a contact-prescription. (In CA you need separate ‘prescriptions’ for 👓 & contacts). Not to mention the wind & road grime/debris. Totally NOT comfortable. (Yes, I’ve worn contact lenses for years before. & I’m DONE with those. ESPECIALLY not going 2 wear them on a bike.) I have an Arai RX7-V, and I think it's one of the best helmet on the market for people who wear glasses. You can fit any pair of glasses inside them, even those very large Ray-Ban.

See I normally do contacts because I have so many fogging issues with glasses though the Helmets I buy I make sure have eye glass channel. I do keep a spare set of disposable contacts and eye drops in my bag in case that spec of dirt shows up or any other contact issue. I also found on my 1k in a day down to NC last week that it's also a great idea to toss your contacts at 8 hours and pop in a fresh pair so they don't get super dry and uncomfortable. Great topic

I started with system helmets with a drop-down sunshield from day one and it works like a charm. You put it on over your glasses, never have to take your helmet off or switch glasses. It's a tad more noisy, but you shouldn't ride without ear protection anyway. The little fog away spray takes care of the rest.

Thank you for this video. I'd like to add: I have a LS2 Challenger helmet, and it comes with elastic bands for eyeglass spacing at the top of the cheek pads. So one could use like a hair tie or rubber bands to achieve the zip tie hack. It makes my script Oakley fuel cells bearable in the helmet.

have you tried shaving cream for anti fogging ? just a little dab rub it around, wipe off excess. as long as you dont touch the lens, or get it wet, it wont fog. i have been doing this since the 80s and has never failed me yet. its easy and cheap too. good vid

Every once in a while, though, I wish I had a pair of glasses that fit while riding. The shaky-vision can almost get me motion sick.

Good info! Another tip for people like me. I am both a pilot and motorcycle rider, and like others, I wear bifocals. I like glasses that have adjustable nose bridge pieces. These keep the lower edge of the lenses from touching my cheek. They are less likely to slip down my nose from vibration or sweat. If they touch my cheek, the lenses fog more and get grimy. Like others mentioned, I also like transition style lenses. That way I don’t have to worry about glare, but I don’t need separate shades. I rarely use the drop down sunshade built into my helmet. I don’t carry contacts or sunglasses. I do carry a spare pare of identical glasses in case I lose them while flying.

Well another option , this is what I did last 2 pairs I purchased… I took my go to Arai Signet Q helmet with me and after picking out 2-3 different frames that I liked I see how they fit with the helmet on .My lenses are those progressive (look down for reading / straight out or level for distance) … so critical that the glasses sit perfectly on your face .this is my priority when i pick a pair .. I will look into that company you spoke about ..keep up the good work you are very insightful especially for how young you are !! Stay safe out there .

I also wear glasses when riding. I have military issue bi-focal glasses and use a helmet that allows them to fit nicely. I found a different solution to the fogging. I use a snorkel. A tube with a right angle end that exits right at the bottom of my full face helmet on one side (the angled part I hold in my mouth). I only exhale through this snorkel. I only inhale through my nose and not through the snorkel, which brings in fresh air through the vents. I never have a problem with fogging since doing this, even at some of the winter temps I ride in... down well below zero F. And I can keep my visor closed all the time and use a neck gator which keeps the most of the cold air out.

Thanks for the video. I've only recently needed some reading RX glasses. Trying Flying Eyes and other brands. My challenge continues to be that when I look down the glasses rise up off the bridge of the nose. Or, put another way, they don't stay with my head and just stay lodged in place. Flying Eyes are probably the best at minimizing it but it still does it. Still trying to figure it out.

My German made helmets are set up for glasses which helps. They are modular as well and I find that much more user friendly when it comes to glasses. I always have a dedicated pair of glasses for riding which are sized to fit well in the helmet. That said these glasses are well worth checking out. Thanks for the video. 🇨🇦

Been riding on and off the street with prescription contacts for years, and never had a problem. Glasses can limit the type of cool helmets you can buy and limit the use of some helmet add-ons / features (Bluetooth speakers, colored visors, drop-down sunshades, defog helmet inserts, helmet chin curtains, pin locks etc). I can see wearing glasses under any helmet that isn’t a full face one, but it’s honestly just easier to wear contacts and put on / take off your helmet in a flash. Also, I wear contacts because it’s far comfortable to me in my daily life than wearing glasses, and night riding / driving is more manageable too. I use Acuvue Oasis breathable contacts and even when I accidentally sleep with them, they don’t get stuck or are uncomfortable in any kind of way. LASIK in definitely in my future though…🤓

If you are fortunate enough to have bought an adventure style helmet or one with an unusually wide eyeport you can also go with MX goggles. Which isolate your breathing from the glasses. They also tend to be very difficult to fog up for the same reasons a pinlock is difficult to fog up. As a side effect of this solution and because I use an ADV helmet. I can lower the visor while wearing goggles. Which means I don't need to swap visors ever if I get caught at night but can still protect my face from bugs and such.

Thank you for the very informative video. After watching your video, I did some more research on Flying Eyes and eventually ended up getting a Try-On kit (two kits, in fact) to see which frame would fit me and would look good on me. I have subsequently bought a pair (the Luzon) and two different clip-ons each with a different color. I can't wait for the pair to arrive so I can finally begin to be comfortable on long motorcycle rides with my glasses.

One solution that worked for me more than one reason, is buying the Interior of the helmet of a smaller size, so it will not be so tight on your face, I had to do this because the helmet sizes were not fitting correctly, so I bought an additional interior piece from a smaller size, and it fixed all my issues, and no the helmet don't feel loose or anything like that. I did the same with another helmet that I used for over 10 years and to this day, that helmet fits me perfectly and it is not loose even after so much usage. 🙂

Good stuff Lali! The fogging up is a thing for sure. Sprays do help but indeed with temp differences they can fog up still. Or with high humidity as well. Vents/visor open does the trick then haha the struggles.

This is really good info.... My Icon Air Flite helmet will pull the silicone ends off of glasses every time i take them off. I highly recommend glasses with solid earpieces. It's also hard to find glasses that work with an internal drop-down visor.

I always get reactor light lenses which ( as the name suggests ) reacts to sunlight and darkens them to sunglasses if needed or clears the lenses if not ( like for night riding ). You can also get reactive visors if thats your deal.

Your part of the dust in eyes with contacts makes so much sense. Also, I used to always drive with contacts and I noticed it dries my eyes out much more and makes daily wear much more unforgiving. Glasses is much safer and easier to use while riding. Even for commuting. I just apply my contacts at work and take them off before I leave (if im riding)

I generally mix it up in colder weather I use contacts to avoid fogging - but always take my glasses with and should I have any drama like dust etc as you described because they are disposable - toss them and put the glasses on - Luckily to date I haven't had to do that - I also use a module helmet so getting it on with glasses is not a problem

Perscription sports goggles can be had from even the cheap online retailers. Cloth strap in place of the glasses arms. Made for people playing football, inside football helmets. I think I got mine for $25 on line. I have not got around to trying them in a helmit though. I have a wedge shaped head so the temple pressure thing is not an issue. I also wear smaller frames with shorter arms so they also do not hit the back. But I bought them for it if I ever get remember to grabe them on the way out to the bike. There may be a makeup problem with them for anyone that wears that. They sit on the skin alot like diving goggles.

Great video Lali, I wear Ray Ban's wayfarers (prescription clear and I also have prescription tinted ones) and I am having a lot of issues to fit them properly into my Klim modular helmet. They are big and chunky, but I just love them. Pressure points and wiggly vision are common but after fighting a bit I can fit them into the helmet (just barely). The problem is when I lift the chin section of the helmet (the whole point of having a modular) because I could ruin the whole fitting process and I have to start all over again. Cannot ditch the modular helmet, it's just great to be able to lift the chin during gas stops and when is hot. Need new frames.

Hi. I’ve been riding for years and recently switched to using a motocross style helmet with goggles. It’s brilliant. You can buy inserts for goggles (skiers use them) with prescription lenses and they just clip in. Not very expensive. And the bonus is that goggles don’t steam up!

I've ridden for 4 years with contacts and have had zero issues. I do use a chin curtain on my helmet sometimes, so nothing can get in, but even without it I've never had anything get in my eye. I feel like glasses cause more of a Hazard whet it comes to fogging lol. I don't wanna deal with my visor plus glasses, as well as the fitment issue lol

Had a shoei gt air for 4 years and no issues with my glasses. Upgraded to a gt air ii and again zero issues. Except the inevitable fogging , but I always leave the visor open a crack.

My top tip is if you're buying new glasses take your helmet with you and see how they fit into it... and if you're buying a new helmet try your glasses on with it! Otherwise yes, ventilation is key, unless I'm doing 70mph all vents are open and visor goes up at every stop. I live in Scotland though and the one thing I've not solved is keeping things ventilated in the rain without getting drops on my glasses! Especially not fun when riding at night.

I'm in the opposite camp here. I have always ridden with my contacts and have little trouble with them. Stuff happens either way, glasses breaking or contacts scratching. It's probably a good idea to have a contingency plan in either event. I don't think it's fair to completely write contacts off.

Titanium frame glasses with slim straight arms for riding (mine are 15+ years and more than 200.000 miles old: indestructible and imperceptible). Fogging is an issue when cold, nothing helps except little circulating air (visor open a tiny bit and fully opened when stopped in traffic). Bonus: you don't need a pinlock lens because visor fogging is not an issue :D Also, dont use breath defletor (above your Nose) and dont use scarf or balaclava over a Nose: both makes fogging unberable

Hm, I use a modular helmet and "pilot" style glasses and kind of bend them into shape, it works just fine!! You have magical, beautiful eyes 😄. Big thanks for this video!!!

I was just told by the eye doctor I have to have glasses so your video is a huge help because I plan on getting a motorcycle within the next year or sooner. ( 1st time I seen the ete doctor in about 14+ yrs lol)

I do not wear my glasses when I ride, even though my helmet has a sun visor built in with the clear also, I prefer wearing sunglasses that wrap around my eyes so keeps air out and I keep the visor up when it is fairly warm out.

So in NYS along with other states, you are required to wear some variety of eye protection. (They actually include your face shield under this) I'm not a lawyer so I imagine they mean an ANSI z87 or higher rated safety glass and frame. But I used to ride with regular glasses when I was younger. Now I still ride with safeties to keep junk out of my eyes especially with my shield open. I have always used anti fog paste I've used for years in my ski goggles. But when you use window cleaner, it strips it off. I always just leave my helmet cracked just a touch to keep the fog down and open up when I slow to a stop.

@@AntiParallali I have used it since I was knee high to a grasshopper. There are several decent brands out there. You apply it like wax and then buff it out with a clean microfiber cloth. After that you just need to avoid touching it. I root my one brand, but mostly because it is what I've been using for years. I would say not to use it on the helmet shield because you get starburst glare at night

I wish I could ride with glasses. But I wear contacts always, never had your experience, so I will not try to even convince you otherwise lol. Bumpy roads with glasses makes things blurry for me. Riding w glasses is such a pain! When I use anti fog the moisture still sticks to the lenses and blurs my vision. I use Aria helmets and the new models have a channel for your glasses and works pretty well. I'm going to check out Flying Eyes for my next pair of glasses. Between my Aria and those I should be super comfy.

I have metal frame glasses, they are flat and can be flexible to bend so it fits snug over the ear. This holds the glasses better on the face and take up almost no room inside the helmet. I do the leaving a gap under the shield too it wokr great untill I start to pick up speed then I just fully close the shield. Great tips thanks.

I found that glasses that wrap around the head rather than the hook downwards work much better for riding with. I personally use Oakleys cause they work well.

I have not tried it but I'm thinking it's possible you could also put like a single or double stitch line in the padding just in the section where the arms of the frames go in. it should compress the padding if it is a good nylon thread..... Maybe

That's the main issue I have in the winter. It's also an issue with the helmet issue. Accidentally leave it in the garage for the bike lol. But I crack my visor just a little bit and it helps out a lot. My first helmet had glasses slots, and it was a bell modular. My second helmet was a bell helmet but it didn't have glasses slots. My fault for assuming. But my biggest struggle is trying to get the glasses under My hair so I can get it over my ears. Even if I have my hair back in a ponytail it seems like there's always some wild hairs that keep me from getting my glasses over my ears. It's annoying.

I just got this Mission CKX Helmet in Mid December have not had a chance to try it on a motorcycle in the Cold .. It has a mouth piece that full covers your Mouth .. It has venturis in the back that suck your breath out of the helmet when you are moving..
