"Your faces are known to me, but I did not know you would one day kill my Sister" Wiegraf was only trying to do what was right. Only, he had a lot of stupidity among his ranks that keep doing stupid things and others making under the table deals. Wiegraf is just as tragic a hero as Ramza. I don't even want to think how the game would have turned out if Alma had died at some point. What would Ramza do in such a case?
@ollybobba86924 жыл бұрын
Wiegraf wasn't trying to do what was right. He was doing what he COULD. He could do much more than Miluda, but Not as much as Delita. And when Vormav gave him a stone, he did what he WOULD do. What's heroic about a devil worshipper? His strength failed. He did what he COULD do. Then he got a stone and he did what he WOULD do. He's no hero.
@Hibiki3284 жыл бұрын
@@ollybobba8692 You're right, he's not a hero. At least not in a traditional sense. But I still think he is a tragic character. All he wanted was what was owed to him and his men after fighting in the previous war. Given the name "Dead Men" during the fifty years war, they risked their lives doing probably suicide missions or some such. After the war the nobility couldn't pay the commoners for their service and this made Wiegraf form the Corpse Brigade and start a revolution. Wiegraf wanted to hold true to his honor and knew that no change would happen if they abandon that honor. This is why he set Elmdor free after killing Gustav, it was dishonorable to stoop so low as to kidnap. Then some of the Brigade got paid to assassinate Dycedarg. They failed and kidnapped who they thought was nobility but of course turned out to be Tietra. When Ramza went after them they came across Milleuda who died for her, up until that point, well founded mistrust of the nobility. Getting all this news at once, Wiegraf had little choice but to have his men bring Tietra to fort Zeakden so he can focus on avenging his sister Milleuda. After losing his fight to Ramza, Wiegraf is mourning at his sisters grave wishing he could have done something to save her. That's when Loffery shows up and tricks him to join the Templars saying they share the same goal: to rebuild Ivalice without nobility. Fast forward a bit and the Templars kidnap Alma to get the auracites from Ramza. At this point Wiegraf admits that he abandoned his Ideals because he didn't have the power to up hold them, and that's what he wants now, is the power to realize his dreams and avenge his sister... Then he loses to Ramza, again. But this time he's dying, and the Auracite he was given speaks to him for the first time and offers to make a deal to save his life. Even Ramza didn't know these things could talk. Now this is the key point. Nobody really knew the truth about the Auracites, not even those in possession of them before using them. All that was commonly known was that the Zodic Braves used the Auracites to fight against the Lucavi. Wiegraf, being filled with regret and hatred toward Ramza must have resinated with the Lucavi inside the Auracite and offered assistance to him at his weakest. From that point it is my firm belief that from then on the Lucavi Belius greatly influenced the rest of Wiegraf's actions. He even said himself that it wasn't just power that he felt but also centuries of knowledge... and then he loses twice in a row at Riovanes Castle. Sorry for throwing a wall of text at you. It just goes to show that even with a summary of Wiegrafs character arc how much happens to him throughout the events of the game. Seriously, isn't this the greatest game ever? (I don't blame you for hating Wiegraf though, that fight at Riovanes can hardlock you if you didn't prepare for it.)
@ollybobba86924 жыл бұрын
@@Hibiki328 No no. I don't hate him at all. I understand COMPLETELY where you're coming from. Wiegraf is more a seeker of knowledge, really a seeker of redemption. He was a commoner but wanted to live up to noble ideals even as royalty and war hamstrung his attempts to rise. In the abstract, I can appreciate the character. But in real life? If I was one of his dudes, I'd be trying like hell to make sure he succeeded. He'd wonder where I'd been his whole life. If I was a knight? Sorry pal, ya gotta die. It's an impulse in us all to try to get a better hand than the one we've been dealt. And then the GREATER and more tempting impulse to forget ourselves once we feel different about ourselves. He lost his relationship to himself long before he gave up the vestiges of it to the Lucavi. He always felt like he was fighting oblivion itself, not just a sad death at the hands of his hated enemies. Lot's of Japanese villains are written that way. I wouldn't be too sad for him if I were you. YOU can learn from his mistakes.

I was pleasantly surprised when I picked up my cell phone and there was a notification that you uploaded a new video, and I was even happier when I glanced at the word "Antipyretic" somewhere in the text. I mean, I was expecting a good transcription of that cool battle theme, and curious about how would you get it done when it originally relied so much on strings and all... But holy shit, I was definitely not expecting something so absurdly epic. The transitions into the title song and then "Hero Theme" caught me off guard. It really is a good tribute to how epic the game was, blending three distinct songs that represent very well the OST. I didn't know this arrangement. I love that you picked it up and played for our listening pleasure. Really good job. And to be honest, firgirling around Mr. Sakimoto is totally understandable. The man is a legend. I would probably do the same and I'm a boring thirty-something male.

Fantastic playing, and I can only imagine how much better you have become since doing this. You really gave this a more somber feel to the whole thing. I'm surprised a video game orchestra hasn't covered this song or more from the FFT soundtrack in general. Also, massive props for meeting Sakimoto-san, he and Iwata-san are a true force to be reckoned with in the video game OST world. Those two together have composed some of the best soundtracks of all time. Seriously, I hope you are still doing this, because it's obvious you have so much passion for both Sakimoto-san's body of work and for FFT as a whole. Here's hoping that they announce the remake soon, eh?

AHHH thank you so, so much!!!! ❤️❤️ wonderful to meet another FFT fan and Sakimoto fan in general! I agree, FFT as a game and the OST are just so criminally underrepresented when Sakimoto and Iwata's work would just adapt SO NATURALLY to an orchestra. I think I have only seen Trisection and the intro theme done by an orchestra and Antipyretic in particular would be a no-brainer, as you said. And yes I am still doing and will probably never stop arranging FFT until the entire OST is done hahaha, and then I'll move on to Vagrant Story and Valkyria Chronicles and his Basiscape stuff lol
