We meet for the restoration of a shovel dating from 1940!. Thanks to the French flea markets. Without them, I could not carry out these restorations!!
I practice the restoration of objects in poor condition. This is a passion, so it is not my profession. Just enjoy the video.

I believe that it’s not authentic US issue. It’s not stamped with US AMES brand and the one that i have doesn’t have those ribs stamped on to the shovel

That is a strange shovel, probably a variant of the American model 1943 entrenching tool

It's a good job, but..... That E tool looks more like late 1960's or 1970's era to me. I have picked up several of them at jumble sales.

Merveilleux. Un outil militaire rendu brillant. Je suis étonné que le département de camouflage de la Seconde Guerre mondiale n'y ait pas pensé, au lieu de ces couleurs ennuyeuses et ternes que l'ennemi ne pouvait pas voir. Désabonné. 😕

Why all that? Putting the shovel head and bracket in evaporust would have been easier and less evasive.
