The wire wheel tends to remove the light markings stamped into the magazine. Like serial numbers and proof marking such as the "dirty birds".

If the MG13 had a rate of fire even close to that of the MG42, that magazine would have been empty before you'd have had the time to say Gesundheit...

Good work! Regarding the ammunition, to be on the safe side, you could acquire a kinetic hammer to remove the projectiles from the cases and empty the powder out. Then put the projectile back in and you have a good looking but inert round. We use kinetic hammers when we're reloading ammunition and something goes wrong, or when a round won't fire because, e.g., the primer is dud. I personally wouldn't want to be handling ageing live ordnance as you are in the video.

Why? There not going to go off . That would just ruin them
@Gattobuono Жыл бұрын
@@Twoot332 Do you even know what a kinetic hammer is? I doubt it.
@Twoot332 Жыл бұрын
@@Gattobuono What kind of a question is that? and why would you want to empty the case ?? do you empty all yours for safety lol.
@Gattobuono Жыл бұрын
@@Twoot332 Right, so you obviously don't know what your talking about. _" That would just ruin them"_ Wrong. The kinetic hammer is specifically designed to safely remove the projectile from the case *without* damaging either. When you load your own ammunition as I do, things sometimes go wrong. For example, the primer doesn't seat correctly. The only way to remove the primer and rectify the problem is to disassemble the round. Using pliers to extract the bullet will ruin it, and probably the case as well. That's why we use a kinetic hammer for the purpose: we safely dismantle the round, recover the powder, projectile and casing, push the spoiled primer out in the press, then reassemble. The same could be done for the rounds in this video: safely dismantle the round, empty the powder, reassemble the round, and it looks exactly as it did before BUT it's now safe. Old ammunition is notoriously volatile. I really don't understand why people like yourself feel compelled to comment on something that they obviously know nothing about. It doesn't make you look terribly bright.

@@Gattobuono lol I know what kinetic hammer is. What I meant is that they are ww2 bullets and to empty them would ruin its history. I didn't mean to anger you. So I'm sorry

What do people call those toughened steel tools used to hammer stuff out of position? They're a metal bar with a handle on the end. My dad was an engineer and he called them drifts. Are they still called that?

I know someone who cleaned live rounds that way, one went off and nearly killed him going right through his guts, he then ended up in prison for having illegal ammunition

Fake news. You need rifling to focus the energy of a cartridge, otherwise they just pop like a firecracker. Go do some research, I like the video where they cooked live rounds in a pot over fire, and no the projectiles did not go through the pot.
