Another first-class educational video. Thank you, once again. I had seen drawings in vintage catalogues of folding camp wash-basin tripods, but never one of the design you have just demonstrated, so this was particularly interesting. We have a square mahogany Regency washstand, although not intended for travel. The top opens with two wings to reveal the circular basin cut-out, with two smaller circular ones for a tooth mug and soap container. I blush to mention that the cupboard underneath is the perfect size to hold three 9-roll packs of WC paper, so we are giving this rather attractive antique piece a new lease of life in our guest bathroom. 😊

Thank you for your kind comments. Yes, I know the type of washstand you have and although we have had ones with removable legs for travel, most were not made for travel as you note. It's great that yours is still being used and, I imagine, loved.

Do you have any examples of a wooden hip bath? I've seen canvas variants for WW1 and safari

I'm afraid that we don't. We have seen some as well as illustrations in maker's trade catalogues etc. We have had a top before though along with its tripod base to form a table.

Damn, the whole time in the beginning my mind was racing with how it would collapse and be self contained. Sad I couldn’t see it in ‘travel mode’.
