A trick to negotiating, do not rave about how beautiful the item is to the seller 😊. It is amazing though to see items hundreds of years old, in the U.S. There’s just not a lot of finds in antique shops that olde.

And do not say that the price offered by the dealer is "cheap"....Billy had no where to go to get the price down after saying how cheap they were and what a good price they are ...!!!

@Greg Appelgren My opinion exactly!! At that point the Brocanteur, as Ryan called him, already knows he's dealing with someone who wants it, plans to purchase it, especially now because Ryan loudly declared to Billy it was a good price, in front of the very shrewd "Brocanteur"!!! 🇺🇲

Frenchman or as a classic Quebequois or even as a Parisian. Ah zut alors!!! Ah tebernac! Merci mon amis... and yet I am able to fool a french friend of mine for 4 years. One day he takes a call from his new wife to be and I hear his say in French Bonjours ma belle! So I said ah you speak French too.. oh he was angry... well specially that I said it in French....

It's not that hard to switch from French to English. Moi je suis francophone! But I live amongst many English friends. As I can fully conversed in both languages at the same time. And best is I can do it as An Ontario

I agree with the others as far as the negotiating goes. Gasping and gawking and everything, he knows you have money to spend. The trick is to seem uninterested and be willing to walk away. You would be surprised how many times they will come chase you down for the price they just told you "no" over if they think you're going to walk away without buying anything. Something else that helps is if you bundle things together they're more likely to come down on the price.

I lived in France for many years, I think you could have negotiated much much better. But that’s just my humble opinion. Knowing how the french think and reply to the first interaction, a more in-depth conversation usually give the seller pause fir thought. It’s a dance in France, and they do realise anyone outside of their commune will pay more, much much more 😊

The only trick I use when negotiating (because I can’t do it) is being prepared to walk away. You need to decide if you want the item, how much you think it’s worth, and add on a bit for profit for the seller. If it’s meant to be you’ll get it, if it’s not then it’s because you didn’t really need it :) Love your vlogs, keep being you xx Ps you said to tell you what I liked in the broconte, well I can’t because I love everything vintage and I’d still be in there looking at stuff :) ;)

It is for skimming the top of soups and stocks. When the soup comes to a boil there is always foamy bits and pieces that come to the top. This utensil removes the scum but allows the fluid through. Especially important if you are making clear stocks or consommé
@wscwarden50222 жыл бұрын
The slotted kitchen utensil is a SCIMMER. It is used to remove things from the top of pans eg the froth that can occur when boiling vegetables or excess fat that accumulates at the top of the pan.. It can also be used for lifting items out of a pan during or after cooking. It is not generally used in conjuction with a frying pan.

Antique shopping envy. There is absolutely no where, where I live in Canada, to find antiques. I was watching someones vlog and they found a chandelier that was wood and length ways it was just what we are looking for. Sadly it was sold. It would probably been too heavy to ship to Canada. Although I have an antique Marble clock, mid 1800s made by Boxall in Brighton, very heavy, I won an online auction, had that shipped here. I love it when you go antique shopping.
