Very quick video, my allergies were bad, so I sort of rushed through. The coolest thing about this machine is the beautiful cabinet. White was really known for making the prettiest cabinets.

It's okay, Janice! I have to make some hard decisions about which machines I want to keep, I just don't have room for them all! If I was keeping my favorite cabinets, I'd keep her, but I'm only keeping my favorite machines.

Love old machines. That one is especially nice. Thanks for sharing before you sell it. I believe the first foot that you couldn't identify is an adjustable zipper foot. I have one like it that came with my 1970 Singer. Thanks for sharing.
@StayStitching5 жыл бұрын
I realized it was a zipper foot later! I've actually used a similar one on my Singer 201, so I felt silly for not remembering. Thanks for watching, Lee!

Knew in first few minutes in, you would be selling machine lol. Infomercial 😊 Nice machine, well kept. Cords not really hard to replace. Back then machines were built to last. Today's market depends on replace often, upgrade every couple of years. Gotta have newest ! Vintage sewing machines getting very popular since new famous name ones are the price of a car. That machine will be rolling out the door in no time!

This one will be easy to let go. She's my only White, so I never really gave her a spa day like she deserves. I'm sure she'll sew for another 100 years. I prefer my vintage machines over my new ones, it's a frequently mentioned part of my channel. My viewers aren't my customers, so I hope they don't feel like I'm doing an infomercial. I just like to share the cool machines before I let them go.

What a great find! I used to collect myself, I had up to 13 machines, but now down to 6, more manageable. Love,y to look at, tho......

I learned to sew on a circa 1950 white very similar to that , but in a much plainer cabinet and also without the nifty lifting cable. The feet you didnt' know include:zipper foot, shirring foot, edge stitch foot. I wish I had that old machine--I don't know what ever happened to it.

theyre beautiful, ive had the pleasure of playing around with a few myself. its great how with a little TLC they take on a glow. i have never been able to date mine or find out what model, not too many pictures of them are around anymore. the cabinets seem super sturdy, very curvy and classy.

White was known for their beautiful cabinets. I sold that machine to a lady who learned how to sew on the exact same model. I was so happy that it went to her!!

I have the kenmore version of that, identical except for name plate. Great runnner and I quilt with it.

The rotary attachments can be a mystery. The manual is the decoder ring. The flat foot with the hole in the middle is a gathering foot. There is also a underbraider which is used with the quilting foot (small notched V foot) to attach braiding/ribbons to fabric.. Greist made attachments for Kenmore rotary's which were made by White. I picked up one in mint condition (117.812), and it is a marvel. i call her Brown Betty. She looks like a stealth fighter jet.

Beautiful machine. Now I’m wondering if my husband can make a cabinet like that for me 😀. The previous owner must have loved that machine and the new one will too

Love those antique machines. My mother or Grandmother had a treadle one and I can only have been about three when they let me work it. The first foot you held up was a zipper foot I think. Hope you were able to cool down quickly.

Yes, I thought later, that was a zipper foot, silly!! I've used some just like it!

Oh, thanks! I did not know what that was! That poor, lonely girl is not selling on Marketplace. People are primarily interested in old Singers, and I can't blame them, I am, too.

@@StayStitching cool, right? I love vintage notions. My favorite are aluminum clips that look like backwards clothes pins. They have 3" worth of measurements on them too. I assume they're for hemming

Are you ok? Darn coughing fits! The other day I had a sneezing fit that I didn’t think would ever end, my husband laughed and asked, how long are you going to do that, I had no idea🤣 I’m not sure when I stopped, but I happy to say I’m not sneezing now, things are looking up👍🏻, Cindy
@StayStitching5 жыл бұрын
Not okay with these allergies, Cindy!! I have been coughing my head off for over a month now. I almost didn't make it through the video, if I sounded weird and rushed it was because I was holding a coughing fit back. Yesterday my doctor called in an inhaler for me. It might be helping a bit. I have an appointment for the 24th. Thanks for asking! It's a struggle. I'm pretty much always either coughing, clearing my throat, drinking, or sucking on a cough drop. For the first time in my life I will be glad to see summer go, that's how annoying it is!!

I used to have an old treadle machine that I loved, however because I moved from Minnesota to Nevada with all of our possessions in a Jeep Compass, I had to size down tremendously! I do have a question however, I have several pieces of wool fabric, that actually was my Mom's, who passed away 36 years ago. How do you determine how much to charge for the fabric and also shipping costs can be outrageous!?
@StayStitching5 жыл бұрын
I usually charge $10/yd for wool fabric. Check carefully for holes. Shipping is just outrageous, I have no advice whatsoever for that.
