I've watched literally hundreds of these restoration videos but this one is my favourite... I love the fact that you cared enough to salvage what you could by mating new wood with the old instead of just chucking the whole piece out and using completely new wood. Thanks again for sharing!!!!
@jameslawrence87345 жыл бұрын
I saw the state of it initially and thought to myself "measure the pattern off the old and remake. Salvage the metal where you can and replace the bent rods." I then watched and felt my way would have been wasteful where before I considered myself not wasting because of fixing "what could be fixed". Now I have to reevaluate my view of what could be fixed.

Cool, but if this wheelbarrow was to be used for normal work, the old wood and nails would not last long.
@joannetiffany80475 жыл бұрын
@@qkohe155 no as hes treated the wood and got rid of the parts that were ruined whilst keeping the wood that is just as good as new. All wood if not treated properly with rot but a true restore tries to reclaim everything from its previous life as possible to keep the age of the item. There are channels on KZbin that say there restoring an old object but make it look like it was bought off the shelf today which is wrong

That is an AMAZING piece of work!! There are a LOT of people doing restoration on KZbin, but the rang of your skills is impressive. I like seeing how you use old and modern tools together and I think this video is a perfect example with the different techniques used on the wood. It was a really nice surprise to see that you wanted to save as much of the original wood as possible, I have seen people just save the metal work and replace all of the wood. I really liked how you went about saving as much of the original materials as possible. Keep up the good work 👍👍👍👍

If you want a screw to be hidden, countersink it by a 1/2" or so and fill the countersunk hole with a bit of dowel or something. Works especially well if you're painting over it as it makes the screwed-down part of the wood seamless. In any case, you're a master craftsman 👍

Nice restoration. I like that you actually reused much of the original wood. Using all new wood would have made it a rebuild instead of a restoration.
