Monopolies only jack up the prices because of lack of competition. We see this playing out with the buyouts and consolidation of grocery stores across the nation. I hope the DOJ takes a hard look at this deal and decides what's best for consumers and their pocketbooks.

Merger makes them stronger but it also opens the door for more entrants, which may provide more competition for more inter island travel. Now that GO is gone you need someone with a good foundation to provide some mix of inter land service.

Oh Terrance you Tool and your frivolous lawsuit.... Alaska is the only hope to keep the Hawaiian brand alive and well. If any of the big four were to buy Hawaiian, it would be gutted before you could say "Big Kahuna." Hawaiian, while a great airline, is failing and they have already said they would take other offers if the Alaska deal fell through.

They file for banktuptcy, convert debt to equity and renegotiate with the unions...is that worse than having one carrier control 40% of the Hawaiian airline market????
