Brilliant and useful test Ollie! I'm sure this will help a lot of folks out with their filter decisions. Really good to see the difference side by side, and by by Halos with the Antlia! The Ha colour shift between the two was also very interesting to see! P.s. the more dad jokes the better mate :D

Like you, this filter was on my radar for the same reasons. I did get an IDAS NBZ UHS for using with the Rasa11 and there is definitely halo improvements with it over my previous filters. I'll have to do some more testing and see which way I go, as I still have the other scopes running at the same time. Thanks Ollie!
@OlliesSpace2 жыл бұрын
Gday Dave - I was actually looking at that IDAS NBZ filter too as I'd heard good things about it. I understand with the faster scopes it's also not as easy, I think for example the l-eNhance is recommended for those faster F2 systems. So many options and variables and the whole time the money flows out the door 😬.

It’s a huge difference. It’s even more graduated rather than a sharp outline. In this case you’ve made it obvious. What’s great about guys running tests like yours is that it forces the producers of these filters to step up their game. Years ago they only had to worry about articles on Cloudy Nights lol. I absolutely love social media for this reason. The consumers voice is everything. The only problem is you get a few hardheaded folks who don’t review things like the AZ-GTI. Really disappointed I don’t get to see another video on it. Lol!!! Keep your course That’s a pretty good print. I’m jealous of the Dolphin on the wall. I’ve given up completely on anything remotely broadband from here. More people have come. They brought street lights and neglected dogs. It looks like a Walmart parking lot and sounds like a kennel.
@OlliesSpace2 жыл бұрын
Hey Garnett ! Yes indeed it was really cool to see such a strong difference in the Halo effect. I think like you say it's good we all call these issues out. I would expect Optolong must have sorted this out for the Ultimate filter. Shame about those neighbors, I always imagine you to be semi rural with a big back yard. I also can't do broadband on anything faint especially to my North just gets washed out. Ye I really like that Dolphin, let me know if you want one I'll email you a copy.

Hi Mark always good to hear from another Aussie. Yes from the backyard I'm about a 5/6 so this filter really helps but that rural site for retirement sounds like a dream !!! Hey, sir. Since the Ultimate has been out, have you given it a try? How does it hold up to the ALP-T? I know it’s even narrower, just wondering if it reaches the point of being so narrow that it makes alignment/plate-solving difficult. I’m debating the Extreme and ALP-T right now for first narrowband filter. I’ve heard there are no plate-solving issues with Extreme .. any with Antlia or Ultimate (if you’ve tried it)? Enjoying your videos! 👍
@OlliesSpace Жыл бұрын
Hey there - I have not tried the Ultimate. Since I got the Antlia filter it's been great for OSC so I've felt no reason to change. I think with any plate solving issues you would just increase your exposure time up to like 10 seconds for example. Cheers 👍

@@OlliesSpace finally, after many weeks of researching and debating .. going back and forth, I ordered my first filter (3). Is the color on the Antlia a little off? The reds on the L-eXtreme look better or am I wrong?
