The first one was really serious so I feel hesitant to make too much light of it but Caridee was immunocompromised due to her psoriasis treatment and Ken Mok pulled her out because her body was turning purple. Her constitution was more delicate and sensitive to the cold. I just don’t get why they have to be that hard on them to begin with... like do you actually have to be in the pool? Like can’t you photoshop that background? That’s not the point but just that it’s not probably something she expected and so Tyra should’ve been a bit more sensitive in that moment I think.
@PlaystationSimmer4 жыл бұрын
@@MalloryNewcomb The whole thing could have been avoided if they had somehow heated the pool. The models would not only have been more comfortable, but would also be able to focus on delivering a good picture instead of how cold it was. I know models should be prepared to be a bit uncomfortable at times with things like clothes not fitting or complex photoshoots, but that pool was ridiculous. Someone said Tyra should be fighting to improve the working conditions for models, and I agree completely
@MalloryNewcomb4 жыл бұрын
Soul Calibur Simmer I agree as well. I actually read a story about Kate Upton having to model Sports Illustrated in a coat and bikini bottoms in Antarctica & how it raises some serious ethical issues when that’s actually really dangerous. It’s not about resiliency when she is in -20 degree weather for 5 days straight... that’s asking for someone to get hypothermia. They even referenced Caridee’s story and how the fashion industry (or rather ?photographers?) has done some really problematic things in this regard. Whether or not a person cannot get hypothermia is not what makes a model. Yeah that’s one thing that’s annoying about the show is it’s like “why not set conditions that are more realistic for this photo shoot ... they are so expensive and with novice models set it up so they can actually get decent pictures because that can be hard enough for these women”

They were upset that they were being “outshined” by a “man” when they were just making themselves look bad. Trans women should be allowed to model just as much as cis women. Trans men should be allowed to model just like cis men. Trans people don’t have an advantage when it comes to modeling, infact they have a disadvantage because of people like this. Everyone should be allowed to show what they’re comfortable showing and be proud of their bodies. (Also, as a trans guy, if I for some reason wanted to be a model and my competition behaved like this, I would be really upset.)

@Cybeldina4 жыл бұрын
I mean, they are definitely in the wrong. But it’s a valid excuse, or explanation for a better word. If that’s the type of mindset you’re raised in, it’s going to be ingrained in your brain and difficult to get rid of the beliefs. The same goes for religious indoctrination.
@NellIman4 жыл бұрын
刘凯琳 In my opinion at a certain point it’s your responsibility to choose if you want to keep those beliefs or not. Being from a small town doesn’t mean you’re closed off from the outside world. They have tv, internet, etc that with a bit of research can help you unlearn those beliefs. At a certain age you’re just choosing to be racist and she specifically was proud of it
@hotskaterchic99934 жыл бұрын
刘凯琳 It’s not a valid excuse. There is no excuse for being ignorant
@Cybeldina4 жыл бұрын
Nell Iman Actually, people don’t choose what they believe. I know this is an uncomfortable truth for a lot of people, because it removes some of the responsibility we want to place on others. But it doesn’t change the fact. Belief comes as a result of being convinced of something and no one chooses whether they are convinced or unconvinced. You cannot choose to believe that 1 + 1 = 6. You can choose whether to go and seek more information but ultimately whether or not it convinces you is not your decision. Obviously they wouldn’t hold the belief if they already understood that it’s wrong. They hold it because they are genuinely convinced it’s correct. Everyone wants to be right, no one wants to be wrong. And don’t underestimate the power of indoctrination on a developing and malleable mind. If you essentially brainwash someone from that age to hold a certain worldview, that will become their reality. How can you convince them otherwise? All you can do is show them facts and hope that they understand it enough to become unconvinced of their previous belief. It’s difficult but it’s the only way. Even some of the most hateful and stubborn KKK members have been shown to change their mind. They didn’t do it as a result of being called “dumb” and “disgusting” like so many of these comments have said. They were able to change by someone willing to offer a bit of caring and understanding.
@Cybeldina4 жыл бұрын
koriii liles What people aren’t understanding here is that the person doesn’t KNOW they are ignorant. Why would they go looking for information to contradict their belief when they’re already convinced they are correct? In other words, why would they try to become less ignorant when they don’t think they’re ignorant? Just like a religious person doesn’t purposely go and try to disprove their own religion.

Isis was the first openly transgender person I saw on television, and even though I didn't fully understand it as a kid I could see that she was really sweet, and I hated how the other girls were treating her. Tyra can be a royal shit with no shame and she didn't protect Isis. I wish I could say she did good paying for Isis's transition surgery but she featured her on her talk show rather than just doing it to be kind.

Tyra is self hating so she would never stand up for the black girls on the show. It’s crazy how much I used to love her as a child and now that I’m older I realize how horrible she and the rest of the crew were
@samcresp54404 жыл бұрын
Literally. I’m white as fuck man, and hearing her trying to disprove the judges assumptions but still being criticised for trying to show any sort of pride in her heritage is disgusting. There’s proper criticism and there’s plain “well you didn’t fit my box, and you’re still doing the thing that I don’t like so it’s bad!”. I cannot imagine the restraint she had to have not to call them out. I know this shit is like 10+ years old but damn man, Tyra should’ve said more. Defensiveness and explanation are different.

Hoo boy, I’ve got a lot of things to say. As someone who is actually mixed race, that last one was a big yikes. Like, we’re out here struggling with our identities and feeling like we don’t belong in any of the cultures we’re descended from, and ANTM’s just like, “Let’s mix it up and turn it into a fashion statement.” As if it’s that easy. And imitating that struggle and wearing it as an outfit, and claiming that this blatant racism is something “meaningful” or “empowering” is just so messed up. And it’s kinda similar with Yaya. She does translate her culture into her fashion, and the judges somehow think it’s not empowering??? Smh. Claiming your culture in a white-ruled society is difficult, but they’re out here treating her embracement of her African-ness as something that “hinders” her performance. Like, they’re really gonna say that while putting girls in black face? I feel so bad for Isis. Being trans myself, if I were to do a photo shoot and a bunch of cis men were behind me saying my chest stuck out or that I somehow looked like a woman, I would feel so frustrated and hurt. Screw those girls.

It's sad that mixed race people are degraded and dehuminised and you feel like you don't belong in any culture. You deserve to be proud of your heritages. Having a mixed heritage is something amazing and special and beautiful. Having two cultures to embrace and celebrate and almost fuse them together. And it's also especially beautiful considering how the idea of interracial relationships with taboo and wrong and still get rubbish today. Cultures coming together is something amazing.

@Lauren Perfetto feel bad for me? Lol girl don’t, I’m thriving. And no, I wasn’t raised to think like that. Most families are against homosexuals and stuff and my family was one of them, but I’m not because it’s a 100% normal thing that Christianity and other religions have wronged. Therefore that’s not the reason why I simply don’t accept the “trans” thing. Dressing with the clothes society says is for another gender doesn’t make you that. Harry Styles is one good example. He wears clothes targeted for women but doesn’t make him one, he’s just a guy wearing clothes. Same with long hair, nails and stuff. There’s nothing wrong with that

Print models like in VS take bikini photos for the catalog during winter so those photos of them on the beach is during very cold times of year. They must have been trying to replicate the experience with the challenge but they aren't fully submerged in water, they're usually right at the point where the tide is touching the sand, they may get down in sexy positions at the shore where the water is up to their thighs while sitting but they're not actually in the water. Their hair looks wet but that's all styling. So that pool stunt was pretty insane and dangerous

I almost cried watching Isis, I felt so bad for her. I'm from a small town too and grew up with people being transphobic. I also have seen friends transition and it is BEAUTIFUL. Seeing someone finally embrace and love their inner self they were afraid to show before. It was like truly meeting my friends for the first time. Trans people have been the kindest, most accepting and loving people in my experience because they know how it feels to have the world against you and they never want anyone to feel that way. Isis has such a unique beauty and the way she carries herself and doesn't lower herself to their level says a lot. ❤️ It's nice seeing people reveal what trash they are on national television too, I'm sure the other girls got what they deserved.
