I love your approach to organic songwriting. Mine is similar but not so prodigious. Start with a riff or something in the wind/ether that is echoing in your head, then follow and nurture it. Sometimes it’s relatively quick, sometimes it’s a work in progress until you’re further along and have good building upon it. Sleep on it…. Maybe the best creative advice considering how our brains work. I have a few songs where I came up with a good riff idea many many years ago, and never thought twice about it because I wasn’t much in songwriting mode, but then I revisit it, especially songs I started on my 12 string guitar, and my musical ability has grown and I find more to the song in my head and then it becomes the song it was meant to be. Never give up on a good riff/idea… there’s potential waiting to be tapped once in the right state of mind.

Great compositions, if I still play guitar is because of you and Andy mckee. Both have great original songs. There are great guitarist now with great techniques but thier composition does not have the same emotion as yours.
