I've finally learned how to play (an approximation) of this! I was put off by needing 'harmonic gloves' for my spider capo. Instead, just offset the capo and use light pressure on the 12th fret harmonics and it works a treat. The way he transitions though from the harmonics and quickly sets or unsets the spider is so goddamn smooth it makes you think it's something a regular human can accomplish. What a stunning piece from my now favourite guitarist of all time.

It's called the spider capo with harmonic gloves installed on it. I wish I could find a way to buy it and ship it to my dorm haha xD

so what does it do exactly?

The spider capo itself is a capo that can be put onto any fret without increasing the overall tension on the guitar neck. It's main feature is the fact you can choose to capo any strings within the range of that fret. For example, you can capo every string except the E string at the 2nd fret to make a Drop D tuning at capo 2. There are more good uses like Luca Stricagnoli's Thunderstruck, where he capos it at the 2nd fret (3 strings capo'd) with a drop tuning to form an open tuning. As for the harmonic gloves Antoine uses in this video, it's used to do harmonics. When pressed down slightly on he strings, they create the harmonic sound when the string is played. When pressed up so they don't touch the strings, the guitar is played normally.

I love this channel and Antoine Dufour is among my favorite. There are several who are very technically skilled, but the composition is basically just showing technique, not necessarily pretty or something you'd listen to again. Dufour always has a story to tell. Luca Stricagnoli is another among my favorites. I don't want a debate about who is more technically savvy than anyone else. I want something that is beautiful to listen to. Thanks for the upload.

I agree partially. There is something really spectacular about watching the self-actualization of the musicians that have practiced for cumulative years and becoming the best that they can possibly be, or perhaps anyone can be. But you're right, there are some artists out there that while being incredible musicians aren't necessarily groundbreaking or overly interesting composers. Antoine Dufour is certainly a unique and fantastic blend.
