2 years ago my two boys and I studied your swinging techniques and have greatly improved their success at the plate. Your positive attitude and easy approach is greatly appreciated Matt!

This is a huge key to fixing my daughter. This is exactly what she is doing. Made my night! Love love your videos. Thank you

Just line your middle knuckles up and start the swing from over the plate. The back swing will automatically put the elbows in a neutral, natural position but keep your hands at the top of your strike window ahead of the back elbow, in front of your “toe line,” and don’t swing “up.” Doesn’t matter if you’re pulling your head.

Great video. That’s exactly what I’m doing. Being late, not getting the barrel on the ball, dripping elbow, & popping up.

Same here, even after restructuring my swing I couldn't figure out why I was hitting shallow Flys or popping out this is HUGE!! I'll have to practive with a ball under the elbow.

Great video, this will really help my 8 year old with this issue. I also loved all the HLP hitting principles you referenced here! 😆

I've seen this with a lot of players (including my oldest son). They get away with it with lighter bats and then have to change their whole swing with BBCOR's, and it's hard to break. I'd recommend fixing this as early as possible.

What part of this is a strength issue (posterior chain, specifically the rear shoulder complex) and how do you sync your "fix" up with the lower half? I've seen a ton of kids not be able to fix this until they had sufficient strength to do so. Thx.

@@gomez3357 They do, but Matt is an actual athlete so when he demonstrates he actually looks competent. I think a lot of the issues with TM is not in what he's preaching, but in that he's an old out of shape guy who can't really physically move the way he is supposed to. He looks ridiculous demonstrating.

We cannot seem to break this habit. It's frustrating him to hear me harp, frustrating me that it's still there. Hopefully this video helps. There so much more untapped power in there he's slicing off.

With all respect, this doesn’t fix the drag for any kid under 10 years old. There’s only 1 way to fix drag for anyone younger and this isn’t it.

And the answer is…
@HudsonSelf Жыл бұрын
@@AntonelliBaseball top hand wrist activation. Kids with a flat wrist drag their elbow. Kids with a wrist at 45 degrees will allow them to keep their hands in front of their elbow. Try this: flatten your top hand wrist out and try leading with your top hand elbow… you’ll see how easy it is. Now, try and really keep your wrist flexed and try and lead with your elbow, it’s harder. Hope this helps. We’ve watched a ton of your stuff and are super grateful for your content.

@@HudsonSelfThis is a big point for Ron Sullivan’s videos. And I agree that having some top hand wrist flex is a big help in fixing bat drag.

Good info may not work for every kid though. Did Matt hit like this? If so I would be skeptical since career numbers are far from impressive with no power. He only played for 5-6 years and was a first round pick, and that's the only reason he got to the big leagues and that was so the GM didn't look bad. 57 AB in the big leagues surely doesn't make you the hitting guru....... Why did you struggle? was it mechanics or between the ears ? ....
@guyster231 Жыл бұрын
How many years did you play in the big leagues? Do you have some videos that would help?
@nesssixteen61069 ай бұрын
If you watch some of his other videos, you'll see him admit that his mechanics weren't great when he was a pro player. It's the stuff he teaches now that he WISHES he knew much earlier on. If you don't think his stats are particularly great, I don't think you're bringing up anything Matt doesn't already know. No doubt he'd be in another universe of hitting if he had the knowledge he does now.
