Lovely playing as always! Will have to look Alba up. Yes the quiet apoyando is a great musical tool to have. I confess I still find it too easy to misjudge, especially when a bit anxious...

Haha that is so true! One of the reasons to learn to play it softly 👍 check out Alba - mostly he has pretty simple stuff but there are a few neat concert pieces in there too (mostly romantic style).

Nicely done! Reminds me of Calatayud. Very pleasant.

Ah yes totally, that's a great comparison - they would have been contemporaries also buy Calatayud lived much longer.

Yes, this and the other habaneras are melancholic, simple and lovely. I didn't Know anything about the composer 👏 Me, as a no-nail player from the beginning experience the rest-stroke as a way to obtain a louder and precise sound. There are some difficulties ;as you cannot play scales so fast as no rest- stokes. The second one is that you close the sound of the immediately upper string, where you rest your finger. My best example for playing a rest-stoke is the leading voice in Romance Anonimo. I rest the highest string and not rest in the 2 other strings in the arpeggios. The difference in front no resting any string is absolutely huge Thx for sharing this !!😀

Thanks for listening to it, sir! Very interesting perspective on the rest-stroke as well. So you never played with nails? Ever?

Tate, never never .......... began playing at twelve !! Since 40 I also play the piano ..and this will be an added difficulty😀
@tateharmann30572 жыл бұрын
@@qveciana Wow! I think this is rare haha. I play the piano as well but it was never my primary interest so I did whatever it took to serve the sound of the guitar, including growing nails. But now that I don't have nails anymore, I can enjoy the piano again :)

Lovely piece, Tate! And a wonderful warm and round tone! I wish I could do like the cats so I don't have to cut my nails! But the next time they break again, it won't be the big catastrophe...
@tateharmann30572 жыл бұрын
Yes exactly haha. This way you can still play guitar if you break a nail or cut them off for some other reason 👍 thanks for the listen!

Well played, Tate, with a pleasant authentic sound 👏! I find the high e gut trebles are usually the first to go too. My current Martin set on the Ramirez probably has a week or two left on it, then I'm going back to gut myself, I miss the experience. 😎
@tateharmann30572 жыл бұрын
Thanks Josh - I appreciate your comments 👍 there's nothing quite like gut, that's for sure!

@@tateharmann3057 Hey Tate, quick question. Is my guitar tone sounding ok in my recent videos? I find your tone is exquisite, so you would know better than most. I just had a super negative comment on my new Knobloch review video that said my technique was "a pure catastrophe. You tear the strings with a claw hand and don't produce a round tone." And "Shouldn't you learn to play the guitar properly?" I've never disputed being a hobbyist, not a pro, but I wouldn't want to be making a fool of myself either. Is this just a troll with no life, or was there some merit to what he said? I already deleted the comment, but it made me wonder. Thanks man.
@tateharmann30572 жыл бұрын
@@Josh.Vanjani You absolutely are not making a fool of yourself. It's a troll with no life - probably knows a thing or two about guitar but how do we know how well that person even plays? That being said, tone can probably almost always be improved with practice. Tone has been the focal point of my guitar study but others choose to focus on something else like rhythm, speed, technique in general, etc and that's fine too. Why not challenge yourself and work on time production for a little while? Nothing to lose there - but I enjoy your guitar sound 👍
